EXPERIMENT 2 : HARTLEY OSCILLATOR
OBJECTIVES : After doing this experiment you will able to 1. Build a Hartley Oscillator and observe the output waveform2. Measure the frequency of the oscillator3. understand the working principle of the Hartley oscillator
EQUIPMENT : 1. Oscillator circuits module (EFT-ETX-S7) 2. Base station 3. Oscilloscope 4. Digital multimeter 5. Digital frequency counter 6. Jumper cables
PROCEDURES 1. Prepare the equipment required in this experiment on your bench
2. Ensure that the power switch of base station is OFF and AC power cable is not connected to power source. Install the oscillator circuits module (EFT-ETX-S7) on the base station’s sliding rail.
3. Observe the circuit on figure 1 below
4. Make jumper connections between the oscillator circuits module and the base station. Use figure 2 as the guidance (Do not connect the module to the DC power source before it is adjusted to right position)
Figure 2
5. Make sure your circuit connections are correct and get approval from your lecturer.
6. Connect the AC power cable to power source.
7. Turn ON the power switch
8. Observe the output waveform of the Hartley oscillator. Also measure the frequency.
9. Adjust the coil L1. Use the special tool to turn the tuning slug of the coil. Observe the waveform. Measure the minimum and maximum frequency while you turning the slug.
f max = ____________Hzf min = ____________Hz
10. Turn OFF the power switch
11. Consult your experiment result to your instructor
12. Remove all the jumper connections and remove the oscillator circuit module from the base station’s sliding rail.
13. Return the equipment to their place and clean your work area.
QUESTIONS AND TASK :
1. Explain the working principle of triangular wave oscillator?
2. What is the effect by turning the ferrite core of the coil?
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION :Make your discussion and conclusion
