is an outspoken Black Trans activist and the critically acclaimed actress of Orange is
the New Black, playing the groundbreaking role of “Sophia” an incarcerated African
American transwoman. Laverne Cox explores how the intersections of race, class,
and gender uniquely affect the lives of trans women of colour. Drawing from her
own personal narrative to share how she has been able to navigate the world and
all its challenges; a journey of professional achievement, self-acceptance, and love. A

Friday, March 27
10:30-12:30 FILM SCREENING: Pride Set in the summer of 1984 – Margaret Thatcher is in
power and the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is on strike. At the Gay
Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money
to support the families of the striking miners, but the Union seems embarrassed to
receive their support. The activists decide to ignore the Union and go direct to the
miners. They identify a mining village in deepest Wales and set off in a mini bus to
make their donation in person. And so begins the extraordinary story of two
seemingly alien communities who form a surprising and ultimately triumphant

radical accessibility? What can radical accessibility look like in campus and
community organizing? How accessible are social justice movements now? Using an
