LAB SAFETY BEGINS BEFORE YOU GO INTO THE LAB!

§ Always read through the lab instructions before you go into the lab

§ Ask if you have any questions or do not understand something!

PROPER LAB BEHAVIOR§ No horseplay is allowed in the lab§ Never indulge in horseplay or behavior

that could lead to injury of others

DRESSING FOR THE LAB§ Use goggles/safety glasses, gloves, and lab

aprons when instructed to do so§ Close toed shoes must be worn at all time§ Tie up your hair if your hair is long

IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT IN THE LAB…§ Report all accidents– regardless of how minor– to your teacher!§ For minor skin burns, immediately plunge the burned area into

cold water and notify the teacher§ If you get any chemical in your eye, immediately wash the eye

with the eye wash fountain and notify the teacher§ Immediately notify the teacher of any chemical spill or if any

glassware has broken

AT THE END OF THE LAB…§ Wash and dry all equipment and clean up your lab area§ Return all lab materials and equipment to their proper

places after use§ Dispose of all chemicals as directed
