SHARING

2 PPT2 - SCREEN CLIPPING, AUTHORSHIP, PUBLISHING, AND SHARING

In this part 2 of our exploration of PowerPoint we will look at how to use a screen clipping tool.

2.1 IN-LAB Scenario: You will need to create a presentation about the current issue of rhino poaching:

You will need to create at least 7 slides

Use the images in your Files folder

Following the instructions below

2.1.1 In-Lab Materials

1. Microsoft PowerPoint 2. Access to the Internet 3. BLK_Mamba_Snake_Firstname_Lastname.pptx (presentation file we did on the last lab)

Page 3: Lab 14: PowerPoint Part 2 - iClassBook...2 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016 2.1.2 In-Lab Instructions 2.1.2.1.1 Step 1: Setting your files 1. Launch MS PowerPoint and open the document

2.1.2 In-Lab Instructions

2.1.2.1.1 Step 1: Setting your files

1. Launch MS PowerPoint and open the document as rhino-poaching-firstname_lastname.pptx. Resave the file as rhino-poaching-firstname_lastname-complete.pptx to your Desktop.

2.1.2.1.2 Step 2: Using Screen Shots and Recording

Using any web browser go to www.google.com and type the following subject on the search:

Open the WWF report

Leave this page open so we can take a picture of it in PowerPoint.

Now go back to your presentation and create a new slide at the last slide using layout Title Only

Page 4: Lab 14: PowerPoint Part 2 - iClassBook...2 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016 2.1.2 In-Lab Instructions 2.1.2.1.1 Step 1: Setting your files 1. Launch MS PowerPoint and open the document

3 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016

Type the title

Result so far:

Now we are going to do a selective screen capture of just the WWF article:

4 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016

Your screen will fade with a plus sign cursor:

Page 6: Lab 14: PowerPoint Part 2 - iClassBook...2 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016 2.1.2 In-Lab Instructions 2.1.2.1.1 Step 1: Setting your files 1. Launch MS PowerPoint and open the document

5 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016

Drag to make a selection.

If you made a mistake repeat the process.

Result:

6 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016

Now use the handle bars to resize the image without losing the aspect ratio of the image. To do that use the corner

handle bar to resize the image:

Final result:

Now let’s record narations in PowerPoint so that each slide will have vocal naratives.

7 | P a g e Armand Poblete © 2016

This should start the presentation at the very first slide. Please note the record controls that appears on the upper left

corner:

Go through the entire presentation either with your navigation keys or the mouse. Once the presentation is complete

you should see the narrative icon appear on the lower part of your presentation:

You can click on this and it will playback the vocal recordings for each slide.
