SPECIAL NEEDS RETREAT Congratulations to all the participants and leaders who had a fun and exciting retreat last Saturday.

Give Your Amen! Today’s 2nd reading takes us to John’s heavenly vision in Reve-lation. Between chapters 4-7, John leaves us with seven short “hymns” that he hears in heav-en. Beginning with: “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” (Rev 4:8) Today we hear the voices of heaven crying out in praise of the Lamb. It is the Lamb “that was slain” and the Lamb “who sits on the throne.” This Lamb of God is worthy of all praise and all worship. It is itting that in our season of Easter we meditate on the appearances of the resurrected Christ in our Gospels, and also that our eyes look to heaven’s rejoicing in this Paschal Mystery. That salvation comes to us through this Lamb. All of heaven rejoices at this act of salvation. This is true worship. And so, we must rejoice over this on earth. Our worship should look like heaven’s worship, because we are not a Church on earth that is distinct from the Church of heaven. We are members of the same Body of Christ. So then it shouldn’t surprise us that as we begin the Eucharistic Prayer (where the saving act of Christ is made present before us on the Altar) we sing the hymn of heaven from John’s vision: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of Hosts! And that at the conclusion of the Eucharistic Pray-er we give the same response as those in heaven: AMEN! Today, as we worship, let us give our Amen!
