Kindergarten

The vision of the Strategic Plan is to create a learning environment that enables our students to be responsible and accountable for their own learning. Students must clearly understand expectations in order to take ownership for their learning. The expectations are developed by our teachers and are aligned with the Illinois State Standards and Illinois Assessment Frameworks. These expectations, written as Essential Learning Targets, are in student friendly “I Can” statements and are what students should know and be able to do by the end of a specific school year.

Kindergarten - Reading

Kindergarten - Reading

Kindergarten - Science


1. I can distinguish between living and non-living things.

3. I can name ways to stay healthy (exercise, food, rest, dental care and keeping clean).

4. I can use my 5 senses to explore and observe to gain information.

5. I can record information through pictures or a graph.

6. I can use simple tools (thermometer, scales, magnets, rulers).

7. I can observe and describe the life cycle of plants and animals.

8. I can observe change and growth in myself and the things around me (seasons and weather).

9. I can name features of our earth (ocean, rivers, mountains, daytime, nighttime) and how to take care of it.

3. I can perform locomotor and non-locomotor skills at different levels (high, medium, low) when provided a visual demonstration.

5. I can perform basic manipulative skills (throwing, kicking, rolling a ball) when provided a visual demonstration.
