EuroSDRPresention

EuroSDR is a not-for-profit organisation linking National Mapping and Cadastral Agencies

with Research Institutes and Universities in Europe for the purpose of applied research in

spatial data provision, management and delivery.

EuroSDR (formerly OEEPE) is a pan-European organisation established by International

Treaty, as OEEPE, in 1953 in Paris.

EuroSDR is a network of delegates from 18 European-Countries (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus,

Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands,

United Kingdom).

EuroSDR – 3D Special Interest GroupActivities

The EuroSDR 3D Special Interest Group is responsible for the following activities:

■ Organise a workshop series to share experiences, monitor state-of-the-art and identify

open research questions/future requirements concerning 3D national mapping activities

and to collect best practices of 3D national mapping initiatives.

■ Carry out a study on “Economic value of 3D data”

■ Start a working group on 3D standardisation: define implementation profiles for CityGML

to be adopted by EuroSDR, in close collaboration with the OGC 3D Special Interest Group,

the OGC CityGML working group and INSPIRE.

■ Collaborate in the definition of e-Learning Courses (EduServ)

Economic value of 3D data

The members of EuroSDR are currently examining the potential to augment national mapping

products and services with 3D geo-information to help them better meet the needs of their

customers. Understanding the socio-economic benefits of a number of key applications (use

cases) of 3D data will enable them to prioritise investment and plan further research.
