L13 Absorber Review Action Items• Look at Shielding options that use special shapes of heavy mix concrete
around pipes on inside wall.– Mars Calculations show we can achieve shielding goals with steel and standard
concrete. Will continue to refine solution avoiding high lead time methods.
• Use marble masks on upstream face of absorber. Protect downstream side corrector with mask also. Aisle side marble would protect personnel additionally. – This is being looked at now and will be implemented in some form.
• Do not use sand filled bags in odd shaped areas around absorber.– Looking at robust Ceramic cloth based option to make small shielding bags. Also
looking at small cut steel option.
• Use Transverse Damper system to map Notch beam kicker wave form– Will look into this method for commissioning purposes.
Work In ProgressRelated to Noker Kicker Systems and Absorber assembly
• Fabricating CX1168 Thyratron Aluminum Cabinet enclosure.
• Working on Power Supply Control cables and Control Chassis.
• Testing Short BKEE(Short) Series magnets.• L13 Absorber pre-assembly at MAB in progress• Working with Controls Group to implement
absorber motion controls
• New Copper Absorber Jaw(Liner) design in progress to help dissipate heat.
• Database work and naming conventions for Notched beam Kicker System in progress.

Preliminary Short Kicker Magnet Pulse Testing using CX2610 Pulser
• The test facility used was provided by Chris Jensen at the A0 kicker test cage. Thanks to Chris and EE Support.
• We tested a long standard magnet, BKED012 and a short magnet BKEE001.
• We kept test variables the same with changes in the magnets only. When changes were made with ferrite sharping beads etc., test were conducted with both magnets again.

L13 Region Aisle Clearance issue
• Aisle Restriction issues.• Looking to increase aisle side clearance for
magnet and material moves through area.• Need 54” or more.• New design has 56” aisle clearance.
• Corner of original position of Concrete blocks.• Was 49” clearance now with new design has 56” clearance.
• Steel Plate 6” thick with marble overlay V. Sidorov
Steel plate rather than concrete blockson aisle side
• Polyethylene mask currently in design.V. Sidorov
