2 2018 Annual Report

Dear friends,

A Maine summer on the lake – waking up to peaceful, calm waters;

teaching your grandchild how to fish; taking a refreshing afternoon

swim; and hearing the call of loons as you fall asleep. Is there

anything sweeter?

All of these beloved activities are at great risk in our watershed. Just

last summer, two new invasive plant infestations were discovered in

a nearby lake, while another had a $1.5 million in-lake alum

treatment to prevent the algal blooms that had been plaguing the

lake for decades, buying only 15-20 years of clear water.

To prevent these destructive and costly problems from happening to

our waters, we must continue our vigilance. Thanks to ALL of you –

the individuals, businesses, organizations, towns, foundations and

government donors – for generously supporting our work. We truly

appreciate each of you for taking part in protecting all that we love

about this place.

Gratefully,
