NSW State Championships

Junior members, Lottie Adrians and Grace Ricketts

headed to New South Wales to compete in the State

Championships in Penrith.

L-R Lottie Adrians and Grace Ricketts (Loving the tee shirt

Lottie)

The girls competed in the unde 17 single and double

events. Whilst the girls did not win their events they

rowed brilliantly and should be proud of themeselves.

Apologies

In the last edition of the yabbie I had the crew

names incorrect. The above crew is (L-R) Lisa

Bates, Dahni Houseman, Jo Jackson and Marion

Kinkead. Cox. Alison Hallahan. Again, my

apologies.

Scull Racks

The scull rack that is housed next to Carey (eights

bay) is often left out after crews have put their boats

away. If you are the only YYRC boat out of that side

of the shed can you please put the rack back. If

anyone else takes a boat from that side of the shed

they can get the rack out.

Regatta Entries

Please make sure that your regatta entries are

complete when you post them on the website. Entries

with no coxswain name will not be entered.

Oars

Can members please put oars back in the correct

rack. All oars racks are labelled. The Jo Jackson/John

Roche oars go in the rack labelled “Jo Jackson/John

Roche” etc. Again, time was wasted looking for oars.

It can’t be that hard can it?

We asked that members do not take oars allocated to

quads or men’s sculling oars when taking out doubles.

Please use Lisa Brown/Mark Brown oars or the Ron

Mitchell oars

Trestles

The Safety Committee has requested that members

do not use the trestles as chairs. Trestles are not

designed to be sat on and once again, members are

asked not to use them as seats. The club will not be

held responsible for any injuries caused by members

ignoring this request.

Boat Bookings & Boat Allocations

The On Water Committee would like to remind

members to book their boats in advance (not as they

are taking the boat out of the shed). With the Jack

and Stu not being suitable to be rowed as a pair any

more, the committee would like members to be

receptive to taking out the Mark Brown and Ron

Mitchell when booking doubles. Doubles do not

require foot steering and the steering has been

removed from these two boats.

Thank You

An huge thank you to Craig Andrians and Carey for

allowing us to borrow two boats for Henley and

providing us with an elusive cox. Without Craigs

support we would not have been able to field the five

Female Masters Crews. Thanks must also go to Tim

who was happy to help out with adjustments.

Legends.

Henly On The Yarra

The sheds were buzzing on Saturday morning with

crews getting ready to compete in various events.

Yarra Yarar fielded 10 crews across six events.

We had five crews competing in the Female

Masters Coxed Quad. Not sure how the draw

worked but the first two heats saw four Yarra

Yarra crews up against each other. Out of the

five crews competing, two made it through to

the semi finals. Well Done.

L-R Melissa Cameron, Jule May, Tracey Jones

and Jenny Hall.

L-R Maxi Wiliams (Cox), Lil, Sabine, Dahni and

Lisa winning their first heat.

Male Coxed Quad. L-R Deb Spring (cox), Andy,

Ed, Stu and Jack. The boys made it through to

the semi final after some tough competition.

Congratulations to the Mens C Grade Coxed Quad

Scull who beat 29 other crews to win this event. The

boys had to battle it out over four races but in the end

the best crew won – Yarra Yarra! Oarsome win

gentlemen.

L-R Gareth McShea, James McDdonell, Neil Williams,

Ben Elgar-White and Jeremey Hofsteede (Cox).

Mens Masters 8 heading of to do battle. After being

knocked out in the first heat, the “boys” were not too

disappointed and decided to enjoy the racing YYRC

style.

Happy Chappies.

Good Luck to those members competing in the

Sate Championships this weekend.

Words fail me.

A Special Thanks to Liz Bolam who between

competing in the three heats in the FM4X+, was

making lunches for the volunteers. With time

running out and her “support” team also in her

crew, Liz was frantically trying to assemble 30

lunches in between three heats of the WM4X+.

With the clock ticking, Dahni, Lil, Lisa and

Sabine were sabotaged whilst putting their oars

away and asked if they could please help out.

Happily said they would even though they were

desperate for a coffee. (Lil I can still see that

haunted look in your eyes when I said coffee

would have to wait. It was like someone had

taken away your puppy.) They pitched in with

huge smiles on their faces. Thank you.

All signs point to Yarra Yarra. Roadside sign on

the way home from NSW State Championships
