Learning Journal Week 3 - National Conflict

TRANSCRIPT

  • 1. Driving age in NZ Learning Journal term 3 week 10 National Conflict The driving age was 15, but at the start of this year the government decided to raise the driving age to 16 to prevent some accidents.

2. What is the conflict ?The conflict is that the government want to make it so that you have to be 16 to drive. This caused major conflict, especially to those who are nearly 16 and now have to wait even longer to drive. 3. What is the cause of the conflict? There have been too many road accidents involving teens in these past years. John Kay says one of the reasons he raised the age is because the accident rate of 15 to 19 year olds is 60% higher in New Zealand than Australia. That's a lot ! 4. How does this conflict affect the peoples' lives? It affects people who are nearly 16 because they might think it's really unfair how they have to wait another year before they can drive. It affects most of the country but not all. It also affects adults, 111, hospital and ambulance because they are supposed to have less road accidents. 5. What are some peaceful wats to solve this conflict?I don't think there are much ways to solve this peacefully and fairly. It might be good to just keep it as it is. This is really unfair to those who are nearly 16 and are very responsible and careful, it's sad how other people that age have to spoil it for others. But overall I think the best resolution is just to leave it as it is. 6.
