Lµ 1000 - Programmable Smart Relay
Lµ 1000 is a Microprocessor based Programmable Relay which replaces the conventional hard
wired devices such as Timers, Counters and Relays used for logic operations. This is a compact
device with an onboard display that can be used as an HMI as well as for onboard editing of the
program.

Programming software with Offline simulator and a powerful
compiler
The programming software Lµ Soft has an Offline Simulator which helps to debug the program
even before loading it onto Lµ 1000.
A Compiler continuously scans the program at the time of programming. Thus the program is
rectified at the time of programming.

I/O handling capacity upto 48 I/Os
Base Unit with 8 DI, 4 DO can be expanded with three Expansion units of 8 DI, 4 DO each, thus
making it a 48 I/O system.
Ease of Programming for Small Scale Automation
Onboard LCD screen comes with 8 function keys which help in programming and editing. No
need to connect the device to laptop and programming cable.
The LCD screen can be used as an HMI for viewing alarms, timer/ counter set values / process
values.

2. Optional Port
Lµ 1000 also has an optional module for Modbus communication on RS 485. Thus multiple
Lµ 1000 can now be hooked on a Modbus network and can communicate with HMI or SCADA
system.

Lµ 1000 has a RS 232 port for downloading and uploading of the program. This port can also be
configured as Modbus Slave Port on RS 232. Thus an HMI or SCADA system can easily
communicate with Lµ 1000.

More Functions
Analog Inputs
In DC models, 2 inputs (Base modules &
Extension modules) can be configured as
Analog Inputs with a 10 bit resolution and
a sensing range of 0-10 V DC. Thus for a
system of Base module + 3 Extension
modules, total 8 inputs can be configured as
Analog Inputs. Using the Analog comparator
function in the Lµ Soft, these Analog Inputs
can be compared with each other or with an
absolute value.
Timers, Counters, Auxiliary Coils, Time
Switches (Real Time Clock)
Timers: Can be configured as ON Delay,
OFF Delay, Single Pulse and Asymmetric.
Counters: Can be configured as Up
Counter, Down Counter and Retentive
Counter.
Auxiliary Coils: Used as internal bits in the
Ladder Logic.
Time Switches: Can be configured based
on Real Time Clock.
Memory Card
Ladder Program can be stored in the
Memory Card and can be transferred into
Lµ 1000 by simply plugging the Memory
Card in the programming port and selecting
the option CARD>DEVICE.
Password
Programs in the device can be password
protected.
Soft Text Messages
The front screen on Lµ 1000 can be used for
following:
1. Parameters such as Timer, Counter
Set / Process values etc. can be
displayed.
2. Alarms can be configured as per the
priority.
Example: If more alarms come at the same
time, then the alarm with highest priority will
be shown on the screen. Rest of the alarms
will be logged.

Applications
Pump Control
Number of pumps in the field are often required to
switch ON or OFF as per the programmed time
periods. Lµ 1000 has inbuilt Time Switches as well
as expandable I/Os to give desired control of the
applications.
Communicable MCC Panels
Lµ 1000 plays a vital role in MCC panels for
controlling and interlocking sequences. It helps
in reducing the size of the panel as Lµ 1000
replaces the relay - contactor architecture. Lµ 1000
is programmable as Modbus Slave and helps to
make MCC a communicable MCC.
Conveyors
In any industry, the most common application is a
Conveyor. Lµ 1000 gives command to the VFDs
which make them run at the preprogrammed speed.
Also, with the help of Timers and Counters, the
conveyor works more efficiently.
Machine Control
Automation of Packaging Machines, Textile
Machines, Bottling Machines, Capping Machines,
Filling Machines can be efficiently done by using
Programmable Analog Inputs and Built-in Onboard
HMI.
Utilities
Numerous utility applications such as Sprinklers,
Exterior lightings, Interior lightings with automatic
ON/OFF, Door Gate Controls can be addressed by
Lµ 1000 as it has Expandable I/Os, Weekly timer
switches, Timers/counters and Real time clock.

1000 can be programmed through Ladder Programming using Soft software.
Program Length
Program length can be upto 250 lines. Thus applications with complex programming can also be
addressed.
Simple Drag and Drop programming
The Operands such as Inputs, Outputs, Timers, Counters etc. can be simply selected by drag
and drop operations.
Program Error Display Window
While programming, a Program Error Window continuously displays the errors in the ladder
logic. Thus an error free program can be written easily.
Offline Simulator
Soft comes with an inbuilt Offline Simulator. Thus program can be debugged before
transferring it to the device. Hence the time required for commissioning is reduced.
