Backboard shall be 3'-6" x 6'-0" to meet all NCAA, NFHS and professional requirements.
Backboard frame shall be of a welded, unitized construction fabricated from heavy wall rectangular steel tubing, aluminum-faced for professional appearance. Unitized frame shall be designed for use only on direct goal mounting (Center-Strut R ) type support structures.
Unitized frame shall be designed to allow the bottom two goal mount holes to pass beneath the glass section to further alleviate stress on the glass. Backside of goal mount structure is provided with two mounting holes and hardware to independently secure backboard to a direct mount goal feature which relieves all stress and shock on the backboard frame conforming to the latest NCAA Rules. Backboard frame shall be furnished with heavy steel gusset plates in the top two corners incorporating keyhole slots for mounting the backboard to direct-mount type support structures. Rear backboard frame shall be finished in a durable neutral gray powder coated finish.
Glass shall be provided in 1/2" thick, fully tempered (heat-treated) glass section with uniform load and impact strength. Official white border and target area is "fired in" permanently on front side of glass section so that it cannot wear away. Glass section shall be secured to unitized rear frame by means of an attractive, L-shaped brushed aluminum extrusion for optimum durability. Front perimeter frame shall be secured to unitized rear frame with structural truss head rivets. Glass section shall be fitted with shock absorbing neoprene material to cushion and protect the glass section. Goal mounting holes (4) to be on standard 5" (horizontal) x 4-1/2" (vertical) mounting centers (see B-200 for goal options).

RECTANGULAR BACKBOARD PAD MEETS ALL NBA, NCAA, NFHA, AND FIBA REQUIREMENTS
Pad shall fit any official size (72" wide) glass backboard. Pad shall consist of two pieces with molded type square corners for maximum safety, appearance and durability. Pads shall be molded from Polyurethane Foam (9 lb. density) with integral skin (self-skinning). Extremely durable skin minimizes the possibility of cracks and tears as on traditional extruded type pads. Pad is provided in colors as listed on chart below.
A positive, bolt-on type attachment system shall be provided to eliminate glue or peel and stick tape type attachment methods. Pad sections are provided with internal, molded in steel attachment channel sections, which are secured to the backboard with special self-drilling, self-tapping attachment hardware provided in kit. Pad sections shall include molded-in clearance for goal mounting plate and Center-Strut R feature, eliminating cutting in-field.

Winch shall be worm gear type, designed to hold backstop at any position when raising or lowering. Winch housing and cable drum are machined from high strength ductile iron castings. The cable drum shall be grooved to provide neat and consistent cable tracking. The worm is machined from high strain tempered steel bar. All surfaces of the worm shaft are ground and the worm teeth and seal surfaces are polished after grinding for the utmost in efficiency and sealing capabilities. Worm shaft shall turn in sealed, precision thrust bearings. The shaft shall also be sealed by an additional seal on the outside of the sealed bearings. Worm gear shall be machined from high strength forged bronze alloy for exceptional wearability and long life characteristics. The worm and gear set to run in an oil bath within main shaft housing which is completely sealed by the worm shaft seal, and by a double lip seal around the polished cable drum shaft where it enters the housing. This unit is filled with oil at factory, and sealed for maintenance-free service. Winch to be operated mechanically by means of a 1/2 H.P. (7 amp) capacitor type 60 cycle, 115 volt, single phase electric motor with automatic thermal overload protection manufactured to NEMA specifications. The motor shall drive the winch by means of a connecting V-belt and sprockets. Drum shall be mechanically interconnected to a special rotary counting Up-Down limit switch assembly, which shall be mounted and pre-wired to motor as an integral part of the winch. Limit switch shall be furnished in a special, extruded aluminum housing. Adjustment of said limit switches designed to be easily made without the use of tools. Winch shall be pre-wired with a 6'-0" lg. neoprene covered cable with NEMA L14-20 twist-lock grounded type plug attached. Specify type of control for winch: Key Switch control (provided as standard, unless optional control system (listed below) is specified)

Basketball backstop shall consist of a main center mast of 6-5/8" O.D. heavy-wall structural steel tube with diagonal side sway braces of 2-1/2" x 1-1/2" rectangular steel tubing. Ends of diagonal brace tubes shall be fully welded to main mast. Top horizontal mast member to be of a heavy 4" structural channel to support adjustable suspension hangers. Mast shall be fully welded and suspended by adjustable hangers (2) to provide for precise plumbing of frame during installation. Support hangers shall be offset a minimum of 1-1/2" behind centerline of welded mast to properly weight lock unit in playing position.
Goal shall mount directly through backboard and into a heavy structural steel Center-Strut R weldment which shall be clamped to the vertical 6-5/8" O.D. center support to eliminate any strain on backboard should a player hang on the front mounted goal (conforms to the NCAA latest rules). All fittings shall be attached to the 6-5/8" O.D. vertical drop tube by heavy 1/4" thick precision saddle die-cut formed steel fittings secured in place by 5/8" diameter `U'-Bolt type hardware.
Back brace assembly shall consist of heavy-wall 1-7/8" O.D. pipe, with internal telescoping tube arrangement to facilitate raising of backstop to overhead storage position. Brace shall be provided with adjustable collar to precisely plumb face of backboard during installation.
Backstop shall be supported from pipe anchored to roof framing members by precision die formed support fittings or custom attachments as required. All cap screws shall be rated a minimum SAE Grade 5. Grade 2 cap screws will not be approved as equal. Bridged pipes may be required when spans exceed 14'.

PORTER No. 10797-100 “SAF-STRAP” BASKETBALL BACKSTOP SAFETY LOCK
The “Saf-Strap” shall be directly speed sensitive to automatically lock a basketball backstop or divider curtain in position at any time. The device will lock, whether in storage or during the raising/lowering cycle, in the event of an over-speed occurrence due to a malfunction of the hoisting apparatus, such as winch, cable, pulleys, support fittings, etc., Any increase in cycle speed or tension, whether sudden or gradual, immediately activates the locking device. The “Saf-Strap” shall incorporate a 2” wide belt rated at 7,300 lbs., maximum breaking strength. The entire unit must be capable of withstanding a test using a 1750 lb falling weight, without strap failure or structural damage.
The locking mechanism must be fail-safe, meaning that any sticking, jamming or breakage of any of the components of the arresting mechanism results in immediate, positive locking of the reel.
The locking mechanism must react to the actual speed of the reel and prevent it from exceeding a strap speed of 1.5 feet per second regardless of whether the load suddenly drops by breakage of a component in the hoisting apparatus or whether it accelerates more slowly, as caused by a back-driving winch or the yielding of a structural component.
The locking mechanism must be self-checking, meaning that during normal use the mechanism is in constant motion to prevent long-term binding or seizing caused by dirt or corrosion. The mechanism shall actively and positively confirm, six times per revolution, that the reel is traveling at a safe speed, below 1.5 feet per second.
The action of the locking mechanism must be audible to facilitate pre-installation checking and to prove positive operation of the unit.
The locking action of the mechanism shall be by means of high strength metal components and shall apply on both sides of the reel for balanced loading and greater security.
The strap shall extend a maximum of 36 feet and shall have a safety alert patch stitched to the strap to indicate the maximum safe extension.
The strap shall incorporate a breakaway loop stitched into its lower end to indicate if the unit has been subjected to a heavy load. A bright colored warning label must be exposed if the loop stitching has been broken.
The strap shall be automatically retracted and stored on a reel equipped with a special negator type constant force spring.
The strap anchoring system must bear on the full width of the strap and be capable of taking the full breaking strength of the strap.
The reel must be supported in bearings on both sides to assure that there is no deflection under heavy load, which would cause the strap to be misaligned and suffer damage.
The unit shall incorporate a fully automatic reset requiring no poles, ropes, levers or buttons to be used.
The unit shall incorporate a universal mounting system to allow mounting either parallel or at right angles to the strap and to allow mounting on either a 4” O.D. or a 3 ½” O.D. pipe.
The unit shall have an interlocking all-steel frame for strength and be powder coated for corrosion resistance and a modern, aesthetically-pleasing appearance. Lower section of curtain shall be 8'-0" high Flexivide solid vinyl, polyester reinforced 18 oz. vinyl coated fabric (per square yard, containing antibacterial, fungi-resistant and flame-retardant chemicals to meet requirements of ASTM E-84 Class A Rating (25 Flame Spread, 450 Smoke Development), and NFPA-701 large scale, ULC S-109 large and small scale, and State of California test requirements). Panel shall meet the min. ASTM F2440-04 Standard Specification. Panels that have not been tested to this minimum standard shall not be considered as equal. Entire pad assembly has been tested and meets the re-quirements of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code for Class A rating (flame spread 0-25, smoke development 0-450) when tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 (also pub-lished as NFPA-255, ANSI 2.5, UBC 8-1, and UL 723). Entire pad assembly has been tested and meets the crite-ria set forth in the 2003 IBC section 803.2.1 when tested in accordance with NFPA 286, NFPA does not publish pass/fail criteria. Wall pad shall be 2'-0" wide x 5'-10" high. Panels shall be constructed with a 2" thick flame retardant foam. Interior foam shall be bonded to a 7/16" oriented strand wood board to minimize warping. Entire face of panel shall be upholstered in a heavy (14-oz.) fire-retardant, high tensile, vinyl-coated polyester fab-ric material with a leather-like embossed finish. Cover material shall be designated as flame resistant in accor-dance with NFPA 701, and State of California. The cover material shall have a tear strength of 100 P.S.I. and shall be mildew and rot resistant and fortified with an infection combating fungicide. Vinyl covering shall be folded and stapled securely to backside of oriented strand board. Vinyl covering is available in 14 colors – see color chart for options. Posts shall be telescoping type with infinite height adjustment settings to meet all USAV, NCAA and NFHS requirements for competition. Posts shall be furnished with height marking labels for BOYS’/MEN'S height setting of 7' 11-5/8" (2.43m), GIRLS'/WOMEN'S height setting of 7' 4-1/8" (2.24m), and 12 YEAR AND UNDER height setting of 7'-0" (2.13m). Posts that do not telescope (that extend above the top of the net) will not be approved as equal. Bottom upright shall be extruded of 6063T6 high strength, lightweight aluminum alloy with a special internal reinforcing rib pattern. (Non-telescoping or steel uprights will not be approved as equal.) Upright shall be 3-1/2" (8.9cm) O.D. to fit standard floor sleeves for new construction or existing floors. Specify No. 870, 872, 873 or 875 type floor sleeve. Bottom of upright shall be provided with a special molded, composite foot to protect finished floors when moving standards. Upper telescoping upright shall be infinitely adjustable in height by means of a special pressure locking T-handle mechanism located on the bottom upright approximately 5'-4" (1.63m) above floor level. Telescoping upright shall be counterbalanced in a static position when adjustment lock is disengaged by means of a special, constant tension spring mechanism located inside the lower upright assembly to eliminate the possibility of accidentally falling while making height adjustments. Bottom end of telescoping upright shall be equipped with special, internally mounted nylon rollers to minimize friction and wear of constant tension spring mechanism. Bottom upright and telescoping upright shall be finished in a durable clear anodized finish. Tensioning winch (Powr-Winch) shall incorporate a heavy duty, self-locking ratchet mechanism with a compression, disc-brake type release mechanism to eliminate a sudden release of the cable tension when removing net. Powr-Winch brake mechanism shall be self-adjusting to compensate for wear. Ratchet and disc brake lock mechanism shall be completely enclosed by means of a heavy formed steel cover. Powr-Winch shall be furnished with a heavy, 1-3/4" (4.45cm) wide, high tensile nylon strap, and forged snap hook mechanism. Nylon strap eliminates the need for the net cable to wrap on the winch drum, which could cause kinking. Powr-Winch furnished complete with removable handle to prevent unauthorized usage. Winch to be located on outside of upright for added player safety. Standards shall consist of one reel post and one end post. (For multiple court usage, specify additional No. 01992-000 Powr-Line or 01972-100 Powr-Rib II center standards as required). Weight of each post shall not exceed 41 pounds for the reel post and 37 pounds for the end post. Specify No. 02295-446 or 02294-100 nets. PORTER No. 02295-630 POWR-LINE VOLLEYBALL NET (FOR USE ON No. 1971 POWR-RIB II VOLLEYBALL SYSTEMS)
Net shall be 32' x 39" (9.75m x 1.00m) with a 37'-6" (11.4m) long top cable for use in No. 1971 Powr-Rib II, No. 1951 Powr-Trak, and No. 851 volleyball systems. Net shall meet the latest requirement as specified by the USAV, NFHS and NCAA. Netting shall be high quality 4" (10.2cm) square, heavy duty #24 Black Nylon Mesh, with a 2" (5.1cm) wide high-quality vinyl coated polyester hem double stitched across top of net. Top hem of net shall be furnished with a 1/8" (3.2mm) diameter (2,000 lb. minimum breaking strength) galvanized aircraft cable x 37'-6" (11.4m) long, with a protective coating to protect against frayed cable. Ends of cable to have loops with heavy swaged type fittings for ease of installation on No. 1971 Powr-Rib II, No. 1951 Powr-Trak, and No. 851 volleyball systems. End hems to be 4" (10.2cm) in width with a 1/2" (1.27cm) diameter fiberglass dowel to provide a neatly tailored, square hanging net. End hems shall also be provided with 1" (2.5cm) wide white polypropylene webbing type tension straps and special quick-adjust tension clips (three at each end) for the utmost in net tension and playability.

PORTER No. 02296-100 POWR-LINE COMPETITION NET ANTENNA (PAIR)
Net antenna shall be designed and assembled at the factory into a single unit construction to assure there are noloose parts, which may be disassembled or lost. Antenna assemblies shall be designed with unique moldedplastic clamps with a special wedge and screw type mechanism for securing to the top and bottom net hems fromthe floor without the aid of a chair or stepladder.
Antenna (3/8" dia. x 6' lg.) (9.5mm x 1.83m) shall be furnished in a high tensile strength, extruded fiberglassmaterial. Antenna shall be alternately marked with white and red stripes the entire length and shall be finished ina clear epoxy type finish for maximum durability.

or No. 01995-000 PORTABLE POWR-LINE® VOLLEYBALL SYSTEMS Judge’s Stand shall be designed with a special attachment fitting to seat in the cavities of the 3-1/2" (8.9cm) O.D. aluminum upright of the No. 01991-000, 01993-000 and 01995-000 Powr-Line® Volleyball Systems without the use of clamps, handwheels, locating pins or tools. Platform support side frames shall consist of formed 1-5/16" (3.3cm) O.D. steel tube handrail/ladder sections with a heavy angle weldment for the support of the platform. Formed handrails shall extend 38" (96.5cm) above the platform. Three (3) special, formed, 1-5/16" (3.3cm) O.D. ladder rung sections shall be equally spaced to allow for ease of mounting platform. Lower end of ladder side frames shall be equipped with heavy-duty diameter, non-marking rubber pads. Side frames are also equipped with 3" (7.6cm) diameter, non-marking caster wheels positioned for ease of tipping and transporting to storage areas. Side frames and ladder rungs shall be finished in a durable powder-coated finish. Platform shall be 23-5/16" x 23-5/16" (59.2cm x 59.2cm), constructed of a high quality 3/4" (1.9cm) thick birch laminate, with a reinforced understructure. Platform shall be finished in a clear lacquer with a non-slip top surface. Top of platform shall be positioned 3'-10" (1.17m) above playing surface when in use. Pads recommended for use on No. 00889-100 and 00999-000 Judge's Stands for player safety as required for all competition volleyball activities. Set of pads shall consist of a wrap around platform pad (1), ladder upright pads (2) front railing pads (2), and clamp pads (2). Wrap around platform pad shall be of 1-1/4" (3.2cm) thick polyethylene shock absorbing foam, covered in a red polyester reinforced vinyl cover, with grommet flaps for securing to wood platform by means of phillips, flat-head wood screws. Pad shall cover the front and two side edges of the platform. Clamp pads shall be of 1-1/4" (3.2cm) thick polyethylene shock absorbing foam, covered in a red polyester reinforced vinyl cover, with Velcro flaps for securing to clamp weldment. Grommet flap shall be provided for securing to railing by means of mounting hardware from clamp weldment. Ladder upright and front railing pads shall consist of 2-7/8" (7.3cm) O.D. shock absorbing polyethylene foam with special Velcro-attached, red polyester reinforced vinyl covers. Protective pads meet the latest requirements as specified by the USAV, NFHS, and NCAA for player protection and safety.

PORTER No. 01991-000 POWR-LINE® INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION VOLLEYBALL STANDARDS (PAIR)
Posts shall be telescoping type with infinite height adjustment settings to meet all USAV, NCAA and NFHS requirements for competition. Posts shall be furnished with height marking labels for BOYS’/MEN'S height setting of 7' 11-5/8" (2.43m), GIRLS'/WOMEN'S height setting of 7' 4-1/8" (2.24m), and 12 YEAR AND UNDER height setting of 7'-0" (2.13m). Posts that do not telescope (that extend above the top of the net) will not be approved as equal. Bottom upright shall be extruded of 6063T6 high strength, lightweight aluminum alloy with a special internal reinforcing rib pattern. (Non-telescoping or steel uprights will not be approved as equal.) Upright shall be 3-1/2" (8.9cm) O.D. to fit standard floor sleeves for new construction or existing floors. Specify No. 870, 872, 873 or 875 type floor sleeve. Bottom of upright shall be provided with a special molded, composite foot to protect finished floors when moving standards. Upper telescoping (adjustable) upright shall be extruded from the same aluminum alloy as the bottom upright with a special rectangular configuration to eliminate rotation. Upper end of telescoping upright shall be equipped with an integral 3" (7.62cm) diameter pulley to reduce cable drag and undue tension on entire system. Upper telescoping upright shall be infinitely adjustable in height by means of a special pressure locking T-handle mechanism located on the bottom upright approximately 5'-4" (1.63m) above floor level. Telescoping upright shall be counterbalanced in a static position when adjustment lock is disengaged by means of a special, constant tension spring mechanism located inside the lower upright assembly to eliminate the possibility of accidentally falling while making height adjustments. Bottom end of telescoping upright shall be equipped with special, internally mounted nylon rollers to minimize friction and wear of constant tension spring mechanism. Bottom upright and telescoping upright shall be finished in a durable clear anodized finish. Tensioning winch (Powr-Winch) shall incorporate a heavy duty, self-locking ratchet mechanism with a compression, disc-brake type release mechanism to eliminate a sudden release of the cable tension when removing net. Powr-Winch brake mechanism shall be self-adjusting to compensate for wear. Ratchet and disc brake lock mechanism shall be completely enclosed by means of a cover. Powr-Winch shall be furnished with a heavy, 1-3/4" (4.45cm) wide, high tensile nylon strap, and forged snap hook mechanism. Nylon strap eliminates the need for the net cable to wrap on the winch drum, which could cause kinking. Powr-Winch furnished complete with removable handle to prevent unauthorized usage. Winch to be located on outside of upright for added player safety. Standards shall consist of one reel post and one end post. (For multiple court usage, specify additional No. 01992-000 Powr-Line or 01972-100 Powr-Rib II center standards as required). Weight of each post shall not exceed 41 pounds for the reel post and 37 pounds for the end post. Specify No. 02295-446 or 02294-100 nets.
