About Kyle’s Scholarship

On August 10th 2003, Preston County lost one of its sons, when Kyle Hartman Metheny was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. Kyle was a standout student athlete for Preston High School from 1994 to 1996. He was a member of the Preston High basketball and football teams, as well Honor Society student. In his senior year as quarterback, Kyle led the Knights to their fi rst ever WVIAC playoff berth. Upon his death, the Kyle Metheny Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to assist future Preston High student athletes. The scholarship is given annually to an outstanding Preston High student athlete, selected by the committee. In May of 2005, the committee voted to extend the scholarship to a 4 year award. Each recipient of the scholarship must meet & maintain certain criteria as set by the committee to receive the additional disbursements. Special thanks to the owners and staff of ProPT. Without you, Kyle’s scholarship would not have been possible.

Sponsorship Opportunities

The Kyle Metheny Memorial Scholarship Fund is primarily supported by The Kyle Metheny Memorial Golf Classic. Please consider sponsoring a hole at this year’s tournament. For a $100 donation, your name (or company name) will be featured on prominent signage at a tee box or greenside.

About the Course

Nestled at the foot of Cadell Mountain on Cheat River, famed for its world class rapids, Preston Country Club offers championship golf, fi ne dining, and tennis. At 7001 yards from the blue tees, PCC golf course is one of the longest in West Virginia. And, for a northern West Virginia course, it is fl at, although the tight, tree lined back nine more than compensates for the level fairways. At 1862 feet, golf here can be refreshing when courses at lower altitudes swelter in summer heat.
