SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Dombivli Shikshan Prasarak Mandal’s K. V. Pendharkar College aspires to be
a model institution of higher education, shaping the overall personality of the
students, creating a healthy teaching learning atmosphere to make students
morally conscious, socially responsible human beings and to enhance their
employability. In order to put this vision into practice, the institution routinely
undertakes innovative and student-centric activities.
Apart from the academic practices enlisted in the SSR till June 2015, a number
of new initiatives were undertaken during the academic year 2015-16 and the
first semester of 2016-17 too. In deference to the directives issued by the
National Assessment and Accreditation Council, we hereby put on record these
activities in this supplementary report. The updated report of these additional
activities is as follows:
Group Mentoring System: On the basis of the observations of the students’
problems, the management arrived at a decision to introduce a ‘Group
Mentoring System’ in the college. Under this system each teacher was
appointed as a Mentor for around thirty students. It was decided that the mentor
would be held responsible for the academic, financial and psychological
problems of his / her protégés. This system facilitated the communication and
interaction between the teachers and the students. It eventually turned
instrumental in generating effective learning environment. The planning for this
system was completed during the year 2015-16 and the mentoring system was
implemented from the year 2016-17.
Workshops for Change in Curricula and Evaluation: The University of
Mumbai has introduced major changes in the evaluation pattern for many
subjects of Arts, Science and Commerce faculties at first year level from the
academic year 2016-17 along with the relevant changes in the curricula. As a
result University level workshops were conducted for different subjects to orient
the teachers about these newly introduced changes. Our teachers participated in
these workshops and are implementing these changes successfully.

Governance, Leadership and Management
Policy towards expansion of Education Environment:
A proposal to start Tally Training Programme and Microsoft Certification
Programme was given immediate consideration and these programmes were
started in the beginning of the academic year 2016-17. A Coaching Centre
for Competitive Exams and Professional Exams was opened in July 2015.
Such initiatives reflect the efforts taken by the management to enhance the
academic environment of the institution and to increase the employability
of the students.
Policy towards Staff :
Along with academic audit the IQAC has started conducting
administrative audit from the year 2015-16. The administrative staff in
aided and unaided sections was asked to maintain the files for the last
five years according to duties allotted to them and display their
portfolio at their sitting place.
Management always encourages teachers to be technosavy so from the
last year they are asked to submit soft copies of question papers to the
examination committee and the committee carries out printing work of
question papers in the college itself. This strategy is used for bringing
qualitative change in the examination system.
DSPM’s K.V.Pendharkar College, Dombivli. Supplementary Report (3rd Cycle) 26
