Audi Japan Sales K.K. Audi Japan Sales K.K. (Audi Japan Sales), a 100% subsidiary of Audi Japan, has a widespread IT footprint throughout Japan that caters to more than 400 active users in 23 locations. Audi Japan Sales recently hit its highest sales figures in Japan in the first half of 2012, and will be expanding its business by adding hybrid models to its line-up in the second half of the year. Audi Japan Sales’ Business Challenge Audi Japan Sales had been using Audi Japan’s wide area network to access and host its core business applications. The major challenges were strengthening the security of its computing platform as its workforce became more geographically dispersed across its various domestic outlets and increasing accessibility to the corporate email system for sales representatives who regularly work remotely. Also, as the business continued to grow at a rapid rate, Audi Japan Sales wanted to improve IT operational efficiency by managing its IT environment from a central location and enabling instant and secure access to information as it is required. To address these needs, Audi Japan Sales decided to leverage partner capabilities. Reason for Selecting KVH Services Audi Japan Sales decided to revamp its computing platform, including its network, email, file, and printing systems, as well as renew its desktop and laptop hardware by deploying Microsoft Windows Active Directory. KVH was selected as a valued outsourcing partner for its highly reliable and flexible service capabilities. KVH was responsible for transforming the existing work group computing into a secure Windows domain-based network that leverages KVH’s IT Management Solution, a combination of KVH IaaS, KVH network, and KVH Professional Services. The cloud-based solution allows Audi Japan Sales to rapidly deploy industry best practices through its IT platform, tools, and operation processes and has enhanced scalability to deliver on-demand computing without significant upfront initial investment. Future Plans for Audi Japan Sales Since Audi Japan Sales’ successful migration of their information services to a secure IT environment, they are now focusing on their next steps, which include deploying efficient and advanced Document Storage and Viewer. KVH Solution KVH customized a solution to address Audi Japan Sales’ IT requirements, covering a range of services from developing a secure computing platform to improving operational efficiency. System design and consultation were covered by KVH Professional Services and, by choosing a cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution, Audi Japan Sales was able to significantly decrease their TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

• KVH IaaS A subscription-based cloud infrastructure environment, including dedicated servers, network and storage were used to build a system that manages the user organization unit structure. User identity, passwords, access control, authorization, and the group security policy are controlled through Microsoft Active Directory.

• KVH MailScan MX KVH MailScan MX is a cloud-based (SaaS) email filtering service that provides high filtering accuracy with a false positive rate of less than 4/1,000,000 and SLAs covering the filtering of 99.9% of SPAM.

• KVH Professional Services KVH offered tailored Professional Services as outsourced technical system consultation services by experienced professional engineers. KVH engineers deployed Microsoft Windows Active Directory, file servers, Microsoft Exchange Servers and network configuration on KVH IaaS.

• KVH IaaS External Port The existing environment was connected via WAN (Wide Area Network), enabling the sales outlet and workforce to access a newly implemented Active Directory environment with higher security.
