Gday again folks and welcome to the weekly for another run. Thisweek saw the end of the A.F.L footy season for my Mighty Pies asthey were out classed by the Hawks on Friday night. A few teamswent on holidays this week, but I think the biggest win was for theTigers against Sydney. What a great game and i t should be a ripperfinals series. One thing is the tipping is all done now so no morerushing to get the tips in before the first bounce each week. Whatthis also means is the tipping parties are about to begin with

arguably the best one being held each year at the Kuta Town houses. I find it strange that as an expat youwould actually miss this shin dig. The powers that be put on the best feed I have ever eaten at a party withthe bar being open and flowing for as long as you want to stay. Im not sure when they are having it this year

but I will let you all know as soon as the verdict has been given.

One thing I do know and can tell you is that the Roof Top venue at Kuta Townhouses is putting on a bigGrand Final Day Party. They are opening the bar and I mean FULLY OPENING THE BAR and that'sincluding all the good stuff along with the all you can eat Brazillian Aussie BBQ. They have scored one ofthe biggest television screens on the island for the venue, so all the action can be watched live on the bigscreen. There will be door prizes, half time entertainment and lots of give aways on the day. Bali Moon andSan Miguel are getting involved and will also be throwing a few free gifts around so should be a great day. There is a limited number of tickets available so Id say get in quick as they are selling fast. The event startsat about 11:30am and will run through until about 4.30pm so plenty of time to get a few quiet beers or redlabels down. Adult tickets will be a milly per head on the day and 900k for pre paid tickets. Kids tickets forages 5yrs -17yrs are a bargain at 200k (no alcohol) and no Mr Steve, you are not a kid anymore and allCollingwood supporters will be charged double. Tickets are now available from the Kuta Townhousereception or by giving the event organizer a call. Check out the advert on page 13 and we will see you onthe day.

Moving along, and on a final note I must say last Friday night at the Crusoes pressure hour I believe I sawthe funniest thing I have ever seen in my many years being on this island, when a punter hell bent ondrinking the bar dry in the hour, misjudged just how much he needed to take a leak, and ended up trying touse one of the pot plants, but while stepping into relieve himself, he has misfooted and tumbled head longinto the wall with the pot and plant topling on him, then while laying there in the mess, he has lost all

bladder control and let rip in his pants. I think the rest of us actually pissed ourselves laughing so the hourwas extended just to see a few more mugs pay the price. Ifyou haven't had a chance to get down to Crusoes for theFriday arvy pressure hour Id say do yourself a favour andgive it a try. The fact that there are no longer any pot plants inthe front section aside, it is a great place to catch up with

friends and an even better way of starting your weekend. Thanks for the support Crusoes.

Ok folks that's about my lot for the week and I trust that themost of you stay safe, happy, healthy and always try yourvery best to remember, I believe that if life gives you lemons, you should make lemonade... and try to find somebodywhose life has given them vodka, and have a party.

    Enjoy Your Week,

Gypsy at the WheelWidespread V iolat ion ofLaws on Taxi Meter UseDamaging the Reputation ofBali as a Tourism Destination

    B i s n i s B a l i r e c e n t l ypresented a page-one review ofthe state of metered taxi service in

Bali and the negative impact thepoor behavior of taxi drivers ishaving on the Island's reputationas a tourist destination.

The report alleges that manydrivers refuse to use tax meters, preferr ing negot iated faresimposed on unsuspecting visitors. When passengers adamantlyinsist on the meter being used, many drivers will take retaliate bytaking circuitous routes to ensurethe highest possible fare..

At the end of a tax ride, according to Bisnis Bali, taxidrivers retaliate further by feigningan inability to make change,

    upping the fare even more.T h e d i r e c t o r o f t h eConsumer Protection Agency inBali (YLPK-Bali), I Putu Armaya,explained the term "argo tembak"is used to describe the refusal oftax drivers in Bali to engage a taxi-meter, favoring instead tonegotiate a more lucrative pricedirectly with the customer.

A recent survey conductedamong passengers at Bali's

Ngurah Rai Airport revealedwidespread disaffection with taxiservice to and from the airport, specif ical ly ment ioning thepractice of "argo tembak" and theresulting victimization of Islandvisitors.

Armaya said: "Until now, there are many taxis refusing touse their meters. This requires firmaction."

The use of taximeters isunder the supervision of the BaliTransportation Office that has it

within their statutory power to jaildrivers and revokes the operatinglicenses of taxi companiesrefusing to use taximeters in thetransport of their passengers.

    J o i n i n g A r m a y a i ncondemning the failure of manyoperators to use taximeters isEddy Dharma Putra of the BaliT o u r i s t T r a n s p o r t a t i o nOrganization (Organda), whoshares the view that the

unprincipled behavior of taxicompanies and their drivers isdamaging the reputation of Bali.

In response to thesecompla ints , Wayan PandeSudirtha, the chairman of Koptax(Taxi Cooperative) at the airport, blames taxi customers citing themas the party requesting thatrequesting negotiated instead ofmetered taxi rides. Sudirtha alsocontends that the negotiated priceoffered by taxi drivers is oftentimesless than the fare would be if themeter were used.

Sudirtha claims t raf f iccongestion in Bali can often resultin high metered taxi fares that aresubstantially more than whattmight be agreed beforehanddirectly with the driver.

Sudirtha. nonetheless, insisted that sanctions are stillimposed on drivers proven to berefusing to use official meters.

The official metered tax ratein Bali is Rp. 6,000 (US$0.52) onflag fall and Rp, 5,700 (US$0.50)per kilometer of distance traveled.

Pande complained that the907 taxis registered in hiscooperative enjoy very limitedincomes.

The coal-driven steampowered electrical generationplant at Celukan Bawang(PLTU Celukan Bawang) inNorth Bali continues to beplagued by delays withinvestors now targeting electricalproduction to commence inDecember 2014 - more than ayear behind schedule.

There a variety of reasonscited for the delay, includingte ch n i ca l d e l a ys a t t h econstruction site and delays inthe construction of a high voltagepower lines.

Egon Wisjnu of PT GeneralEnergy Bali the first phase ofactive operations by PLTUCelukan Bawang in Decemberwill add 142 megawatts to theBali power supply with phase twoand three adding a further 142megawatts to the system inJanuary-February 2015.

    T h e p r o j e c t b e i n gconstructed by PT GeneralEnergy Bali (GBE) and China

Hundian EngineeringCorporation (CHEC) is nowestimated to be 75% completed.Wisnju explained: "If we see ourcontract with PLN, indeed theoperation of the plant has beenpostponed a little. We are nowstriving to finish the physicalconstruction of the power plantand targeting operations to starti n De ce m b e r 2 0 1 4 a n d

completed in phases two andthree in January-February2015."

He said the delay inconstructing high-voltage powerlines caused by the refusal ofmany local citizens to allow high-power lines to be placed overtheir lands at Celukan Bawang.Wisnju confirmed that the PLTUCelukan Bawang was largely

ready to go wi thgenerators and fuel tanksalready installed, and readyfor commissioning.

Wisnju added: "I don'twant to fault PLN becausewe understand the problem

    of building the high-voltagepower line network is not yetcompleted. But this is onefactor why we cannot quicklystart operations. If then e t w o r k o f P L N i s

    completed, the production ofe l e c t r i c a l p o w e r c a ncommence."

In addition to the failure tocomplete the high-voltage powerlines leading into the PLTUCeleukan Bawang, PLN is alsounable at this time to provide the20 kilovolts of power needed forthe new plant in North Bali to

undertake operational testingprior ro full commissioning.GEB and PLN are currently

in discussions to find a solutionon the inability to supply the 20kilovolts of power in order thatoperations at PLTU CelukanBawang can commence inDecember.

Drew Petrie says Kangaroos looking forward totaking on Essendon at MCG in elimination f inal

NORTH Melbourne veteran Drew Petrie says alack of MCG experience will not c ount against hisside in Saturday night's elimination final againstEssendon.

The Kangaroos have played just twice at thehome of football this season losing to Collingwood

by 35 points in Round 5 and defeating Melbourne by 41in Round 14.

While conceding that playing on the 'G doe s posedifferent dilemmas as compared to the Roos' homeground of Etihad Stadium, Petrie said he didn't see thatas an important factor leading in to the weekend'sgame.

I think we're all pretty happy to be playing at the'G this week, Petrie said.

It's the home of fo oty, it's where the big dance isin four weeks time. So hopefully we'll get a win thisweek, get some practice there there's nothing betterthan running out on to the MCG in front of 70,000people so I'm looking forward to that on Saturdaynight.

North has played just six games at the MCG inthe past four seasons, winning three, as opposed toEtihad Stadium where it has played 51 games in fourseasons for 33 wins.

The dimensions are bigger, there's more spaceand requires more running, Petrie said of the MCG.

And obviously just being an outdoor stadium itdemands your skill level to be up and better than it iswhen you're playing under the roof.

    I don't think it's going to favour eithe r side, but it's

certainly different than playing at Etihad.Having made the shift from St Kilda last off-

season, Nick Dal Santo said featuring in Septemberagain made the move all the more worthwhile.

In regards to playing finals, absolutely, DalSanto said.

It's been a long year, this is what we've all beenworking towards and it's finally here.

It's been coming for a little while, you go throughthat winter period where it's a little bit tough from week-to-week, but it's really exciting now not only for me butthe whole footy club.

I'm really looking forward to the weekend.North Melbourne players completed a light

training session indoors on Tuesday morning ahead oftheir main session of the week at Arden Street onWednesday afternoon.

Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie names squad forTest with Springboks in Perth

    WARATAHS halves NickPhipps and Bernard Foleyhave been promoted intothe Wallabies startingside for Saturday night'sT e s t a g a i n s t t h eSpringboks in Perth.

Wallabies coach EwenMcKenzie on Tuesdayunveiled Foley and Phipps astwo of four changes to hiss t a r t i n g s i d e f o r t h ePatersons Stadium clashwith James Hanson's inclusion athooker the only fresh face in thepack.

The Reds rake is Australia'sfourth-string hooker with NathanCharles joining Stephen Moore andTatafu Polota-Nau on the injured listfollowing the Wallabies' disastrous51-20 loss to the All Blacks inBledisloe II.

Saturday night's match willalso see Tevita Kuridrani return atoutside centre with Adam Ashley-Cooper shifting to the wing after PatMcCabe's injury-forced retirement.

But the biggest talking point isFoley's inclusion at No.10 withMcKenzie reverting to the 10-12combination with Matt Toomua atinside centre that was sosuccessful against France in June.

Nic White and Kurtley Bealedrop back to the bench after startingboth Bledisloe encounters.

McKenzie said the selectionof the Waratahs halves would givethe Wallabies the best chance ofbeating the Springboks.

While the size of thechallenge isn't any easier this week, the South Africans do play a uniquebrand of rugby which we will need to

adjust to, McKenzie said. That's reflected in ourselections somewhat, where we feelthe partnership of Nick and Bernardwill best suit the style of game we'llbe trying to play.

They've got a provencombination at a Super Rugby leveland we look forward to seeing howthat translates into the Testenvironment.

I t ' s n a t u r a l l ydisappointing for the twoguys who missed out onthe starting team in Nicand Kurtley, but the realityis we have a lot of good

    p l a y e r s i n t h o s eplaymaking positions.

    We expect them torespond in a positivemanner and to make ani m p a c t p l a y i n g a nimportant role in how we

close out the match. There are some changes on

the bench as well with Saia Faingaa,James Horwill and Matt Hodgson allincluded in a six-two split.

Needing to combat theSpringboks' physicality in theforwards, McKenzie has opted forjust two backline reserves in Whiteand Beale.

Full squad: (15-1) IsraelFolau, Adam Ashley-Cooper, TevitaKuridrani, Matt Toomua, Rob Horne,Bernard Foley, Nick Phipps, WycliffPalu, Michael Hooper, Scott Fardy,Rob Simmons, Sam Carter, SekopeKepu, James Hanson, JamesSlipper. Res: Saia Faingaa, PekCowan, Ben Alexander, JamesHorwill, Scott Higginbotham, MattHodgson, Nic White, Kurtley Beale.

    Indian Contemporary Resto & Bar

What a find!19 August 2014After reading the reviews on TA, we setout to find this restaurant as I washankering for a good curry. Afterchecking the map it wasn't hard to find

and we are very glad we found it. Thisplace has only been operating for 8months and at the moment their menuis a little limited but after enquiringabout the heat of one of theiradvertised dishes, the manager kindlysaid they could do a vindaloo ormadras version of that dish if I wanted. He said they will be graduallyincreasing their menu options and arein the process of organising wine toadd to the beer they currently serve. (Icheekily suggested they stay awayfrom the Hattens!). The service wasvery friendly and they were helpful indescribing some of the appetiserswhich I hadn't seen in Australia. Wereally enjoyed the food and theycatered to our (heat) tastes (I like minespicy). The restaurant decor is verycontemporary and, very importantly, the toilets are clean! I would definitelyrecommend this little gem, it can onlyget better.18 August 2014Good choices , beautiful flavours, coldbeer, very clean, friendly and attentivestaff, looks very small from outside butplenty of room inside . Good value formoney .Aalo Gobhi is superb . Willdefinitely go back.

Ricciardo awarded F1 honourDANIEL Ricciardo's winning ways on trackand winning attitude off it has earnt him oneof Formula 1's most prestigious awards.

Ahead of this weekend's Italian Grand Prix,Ricciardo has been awarded this year's Trofeo LorenzoBandini in recognition of his speed, his on-trackachievements, and his approach to the sport.

The honour roll of previous winners reads like a listof the sport's modern greats, with Michael Schumacher,Fernando Alonso, Kimi Raikkonen and Ricciardo's RedBull teammate Sebastian Vettel all previous recipients.

He was presented with the trophy in the mainsquare of Bandini's home town of Brisighella in the northof Italy, a stone's throw from the headquarters ofRicciardo's old Scuderia Toro Rosso team at Faenza.

Hundreds of fans filled the square for theceremony, where Ricciardo's arrival was heralded by aband of drummers and trumpeters dressed in fullmedieval costume, along with knights dressed in fullchain mail and armour.

I was quite overwhelmed with the reception Ireceived at the event. The Italians really love theirmotorsport, Ricciardo said.

To be awarded with the Lorenzo Bandini trophywas an honour and to join the many great drivers on that

list makes me proud. The award is named after Lorenzo Bandini, Italy's

great Formula 1 hope of the 1960s. Bandini was a Ferraridriver through and through, rising through the ranks tobecome the team leader of the Maranello marque.

An F1 race winner, Bandini also tasted victory inthe Le Mans 24 Hours and the legendary Targa Florioroad race.

His career was cut tragically short in 1967. A fierycrash late in the Monaco Grand Prix left him with thirddegree burns to over 70 per cent of his body. He woulddie three days later at just 31 years of age.

His fighting spirit was held dear by his home town,

who first presented the trophy to mark the 25thanniversary of Bandini's death, but is now awardedannually to figures within the sport as determined by apanel of judges.

Ricciardo is the second Australian to be awardedthe trophy, following in the footsteps of Mark Webber in2006.

After being presented with the trophy by the mayorof Brisighella and Bandini's surviving 80-year-old sisterGabriella, he was awarded a medal of the town ofFicarra, the little community in Sicily where Ricciardo'sgrandparents and father lived before emigrating to

    Australia.

Found in abdomen 36 years after pregnancyDoctors in India have removedthe skeleton of a foetus that hadbeen inside a woman for 36years in what is believed to bethe world's longest ectopicpregnancy.

The woman, 60, becamepregnant at the age of 24 but

suffered a miscarriage because thefoetus had been growing outside ofher uterus.

The woman, from a poor ruralarea of central India, was "terrified"of having surgery to remove theremains of the foetus at the time andinstead sought medication for thepain at a local clinic.

Although the pain graduallysubsided, it returned years later andforced the woman to seek medicalhelp at a hospital in western India.

    "She came to us complaining

of pain in the abdomen," DrMurtaza Akhtar, head of surgery atthe NKP Salve Institute of MedicalSciences in the city of Nagpur, said.

Doctors felt a lump on thewoman's lower right abdomen andfeared it could be cancer but furthertests and scans revealed a calcified

mass."Once we saw the scans, ourfirst reaction was 'what are wedealing with?' It was actually amatured skeleton encapsulated in acalcified sac," Dr Akhtar said.

"A 60-year-old woman with afoetus lying in her abdomen for 36years is a medical marvel. It'ssomething we had never heardabout."

The doc tors searchedmedical literature and discovered awoman in Belgium who had retainedthe remains of a foetus for 18 years

    f o l l o w i n g a n e c t o p i cpregnancy, the longest they couldfind on record.

An ectopic pregnancy occurswhen the egg implants outside theuterus, usually in the fallopian tubes.

    A t e a m o f d o c t o r ssuccessfully performed surgery to

remove the mass."She was shocked when shefirst got to know what hadhappened. But she is fine now and isrecuperating," Dr Akhtar said.

Indonesia eyes 12.7m touris t arrivals in 2019Indonesia is aiming for highergrowth in foreign tourism withinthe next five years as theTourism and Creative EconomyMinistry has set a target of 12.7million foreign visitors by 2019,a 25 percent increase from theestimated 9.5 million inbound

tourists this year. That was according to the

ministry's 2015-2019 National Mid-Term Development Plan (RPJMN)draft, marketing director generalEsthy Reko Astuti said.

In the past five years, thenumber of tourists has increased 35percent from 7 million in 2010 to anexpected 9.5 million in 2014,according to data from the ministry.

Backed by this significantgrowth, we've decided to increasethe growth in foreign tourist arrivals[in the next five years] from 20percent in the previous RPJMN to25 percent,

The ministry will boosttourism promotion in Middle Easterncountries, as recent data shows thatfour member countries of theOrganization of Islamic Cooperation(OIC) top the list of the fastestgrowing numbers of tourists arrivingin the archipelago in the first fourmonths of this year.

Bahrain topped the list with73.56 percent growth, followed bySaudi Arabia (54.42 percent), theUnited Arab Emirates (49.58percent) and Egypt (38.07 percent).

Overall, foreign touristarrivals in Indonesia grew 10.6percent from January to Aprilthis year compared with thesame period last year to 2.9million tourists, according todata from the Central StatisticsAgency (BPS).

We have to generatemore tourists from thesecountries because based on ourexperience, when a Middle

Eastern airline opens direct flights toIndonesia, they tend to attract moreoutbound tourists from Indonesiarather than inbound tourists toIndonesia,

The seat capacity of foreignairlines that serve routes fromMiddle Eastern countries toIndonesia amounts to 52,994 seatsper week, while that of Indonesianairlines amounts to 18,424 seats perweek, based on data from state-owned airport operator AngkasaPura II.

Indonesians are the Happiest People in the WorldIn a survey conducted by Ipsos,a global independent marketresearch company, Indonesiacame out on top as thehappiest people in the world. Idon't place much faith in thesekinds of polls, but it is nice tosee Indonesia at the top of atable, instead of down thebottom in these kinds ofsurveys.

I f mo n e y c a n n o t b u yhappiness, well this is certainly truein Indonesia, where there is amassive divide between rich andpoor. At least next time someoneasks why I want to live in Indonesia, Ican say that they are the happiestpeople in the world.

While many people haveproblems with money, trying just tosurvive from one day to the next, people will usually greet you with asmile. So what makes Indonesianshappy? I don't know the exact

reason, but if I had to come up withsome reasons, I would say it comesdown to: family, community, tolerance and religion. All of which ofcourse are inter-connected.

Most Indonesians marry at afairly young age and then don'twaste any time having babies. Oftenthe grand-parents take care of thekids, so the parents can work. Thereis no government welfare, so thereis no choice but for families to takecare of each other, even into oldage. It is for this reason why couplestry to have a lot of kids, so they canprovide support later in life, whenthey become too old to work.

There is a strong sense ofcommunity in Indonesia, whereveryou go in the country. Around 60 percent of the population live in villages,

where they rely on agriculture forsustenance. The village is anextension of the family in itself, where everyone knows each other.Houses tend to be small, so people

spend a great deal of timeoutside, where it is also cooler. Withnot a lot of entertainment options, people sit around and do whatIndonesians love the most chatting.Maybe because people are happy tocommunicate openly, it is easier tosolve problems.

With Indonesian people livingclose together, I believe they arevery tolerant of other people. If aneighbor is playing loud music, there is tendency to accept it, ratherthan openly complain about thenoise. If you open a newspaper, ofcourse you will find many examplesof intolerance to other people, but Ido believe that this is still a smallminority.

When I mention religion, Iknow many people will point out themany conflicts it creates, but thepositive aspect that I believe it has,is that it brings people together, which relates back to community.

Please tell me what you think,

what do you th ink makesIndonesians the happiest people inworld? Or is this survey inaccurate?

    Kuta Weekly 4 Sept - 10 Sept 2014 (403) Horoscope

Aries Mar 21 - Apr 20Is there such a thing as 'negative motivation'? It could be argued that anaction that has been fuelled by negativity, anger or resentment is thereforenegative or counterproductive. Yet, the person doing it believes whatthey're doing is positive and necessary, even if they themselves can seehow it can be perceived as negative! This week, allow yourself to bemotivated in the way you feel you are being motivated. You might havereason to question your reasons for following an urge but can trust that itintended to bring about a very positive outcome.

Taurus Apr 21 - May 21If you had a jury at your disposal and were able to explain your case clearlyand honestly, how do you think a jury would respond? For some time, youhave been aware of injustice in an area of your world and have, over time, likely convinced yourself that you were instrumental if not integral tocausing it. That's why it would be helpful for you to receive an unbiasedopinion. This week brings the delightful discovery that you don't have asmuch reason to be apologetic as you believed. Prepare to have your faith in

    justice restored.

Gemini May 22 - Jun 22Everyone has different pain thresholds. What might be agonizing to oneperson is a mild irritation to another. With that in mind, the coming weekpresents you with an interesting challenge. A situation can be painful or,with the right attitude, can be a positive development. If you're willing to seeit as the latter, then the sky insists you'll see what transpires as mildlyirritating and brief. There is no need to make it any more than that. Summonoptimism and all will be fine.

Cancer Jun 23 - Jul 23We are told 'he who hesitates is lost'. Sometimes, there's nothing wrongwith hesitation, especially if we believe good reason exists to be cautious.

As one of the most intuitive signs, you learned long ago to trust what yourinstincts tell you. This week, whilst it is undoubtedly worth heeding whatthey're telling you about a need to be cautious, avoid a tendency to becometoo cautious. A situation needs to move forward and you're superbly placedto make progress. Just don't allow reticence to replace proactivity. Be braveand take a much needed step forward.

Leo Jun 24 - Aug 23The Cowardly Lion in 'The Wizard of Oz' was an expert at creating reasonsnot to do something. His reasons were always fuelled by fear. His ability tocreate reasons was so sharp that he probably scared himself knowing howgood he was at creating them. We all create reasons not to do something iffear plays any part in the plan and, this week, you're being encouraged toface a fear and take a brave step forward in some way. Ignore any reasons

you can identify for not doing something. Focus instead on the one majorreason why you must.

Libra Sep 24 - Oct 23When something doesn't make sense and we want it to make sense, wefind ways of attaching logic to that which appears illogical or nonsensical. We dismiss what doesn't 'add up' and focus instead on what we know isbased on fact or holds some sense of reality. That, in itself, is sensible. With that in mind, look closely at the nonsensical situation you're trying tofathom this week. There is a grain of sensibility within it. Don't invest toomuch time focusing on what doesn't make sense. Look instead at whatyou know to be truthful and accurate.

Scorpio Oct 24 - Nov 22Enthusiasm sells. Even the most negative and reticent person can findthemselves 'buying into' or agreeing with someone who makes a pointwith enough enthusiasm. It's as if the enthusiastic person knowssomething the rest of us don't and manages to encourage us to take aquick glimpse into the world they are so enthusiastic about. This week, aggression will get you nowhere where making a point where winningsomeone over is concerned but heartfelt belief definitely will. Someone

just wants to see for themselves how much you believe in what they need

you to believe in.Sagittarius Nov 23 - Dec 21There's something pictorial about us being described as 'captains of ourown destinies'. We steer personal crafts through both choppy and stillwaters. We learn how to identify rocky shorelines from a distance. Wealso learn how to set sails to maximize help strong winds blowing in theright direction can provide. That's why it's important to recognize nowhow much control you do have in an area you might be feeling rudderlesswithin. This week brings an opportunity to set sail in a very new direction.

Capricorn Dec 22 - Jan 20'Whistle while you work'. Such was advice given by Snow White with thehelp of various forest-dwelling creatures. Whether or not we see certaintasks or obligations as enjoyable or downright depressing depends uponour attitude toward what we're undertaking. You have an option thisweek. You can smile and take on a duty or obligation that doesn't fill youwith inspiration or allow yourself to become despondent and resentful.Do the former and you'll make light work of whatever it is. A small changein attitude will bring some impressive results.

Aquari us Jan 21 - Feb 19We are sometimes easily persuaded by others. Much depends on howskilful they are at persuasion. If we're given a list of practical andbelievable reasons to do or not do something, then that's usually goodenough for us. Things become more complex when we try to convinceourselves of something. We identify many reasons but will disregardwhat our conscience is telling us. It's your conscience not someone else

that you need to be listening to this week. Trust the message yourconscience and intuition are trying very hard to convey to you.

Virgo Aug 24 - Sep 23Within gadget and appliance manuals is a 'troubleshooting' section. Ifsomething isn't working properly, then manufacturers often include a list ofthe most likely problems, what's causing them and what can be done to fixthem. Wouldn't it be helpful if we had access to such manuals where peopleare concerned? You appear keen to put something right between you andanother. To do this, you need to identify the problem correctly. This weekoffers a chance to identify and easily implement a solution. Someoneneeds careful handling but you can do a superb job of doing this.

Pisces F eb 20 - Mar 20Some people will always see a half empty glass as half empty. Theyprefer to focus on what's missing than what they have available. Suchpeople even overlook the fact that the situation would be even lessdesirable if they were dealing with a completely empty glass. With that inmind, how might you be looking at a seemingly less than desirablesituation? This week brings a very good reason to start feeling optimistic ifyou're prepared to recognize it. Prepare to discover that a situation youbelieved to be cut and dried or set in stone is more flexible than youthought.

Bad Company are an English rock super group founded in

1973 by two former Free band members singer Pa ul Rodgersand drummer Simon Kirke as well as Mott the Hoopleguitarist Mick Ralphs and King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell.Peter Grant, who managed British rock band Led Zeppelin, agreed to manage the band (he managed Bad Company until1982, when Swan Song Records folded). Bad Companyenjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. Many of theirsingles, such as "Bad Company", "Can't Get Enough", "GoodLovin' Gone Bad", and "Feel Like Makin' Love", remainpopular with rockers of both the past and present, and theirhits remain staples of classic rock radio.

Original Paul Rodgers era (19731982)There was a rumour that singer Paul Rodgers was soenamored with the Jeff Bridges film Bad Company that hechose to name his band after it, but Rodgers, in an interviewwith Spinner.com, explained that the idea came from a bookof Victorian morals that showed a picture of an innocent kidlooking up at an unsavory character leaning against alamppost. The caption read "beware of bad company."

Bad Company consisted of four seasoned musicians: twoformer members of Free, singer Paul Rodgers and drummerSimon Kirke; former Mott the Hoople guitarist Mick Ralphs;and ex-King Crimson bassist Boz Burrell. The band signed toSwan Song Records/Atlantic Records in North America, andwith Island Records in other countries. (Island Records haduntil that time been the UK home to both Free and KingCrimson, as well as to Mott the Hoople for their first fouralbums; Atlantic, in turn, released King Crimson's and Mott'searly albums in the US through a licensing agreement withIsland). Atlantic/Warner Music would later acquire the non-North American rights to the band's catalogue.

The 1974 debut album Bad Company was an internationalhit, eventually going platinum. The album peaked at No. 1 onBillboard's Pop Albums chart (North America) and includedtwo singles that reached the top 20, "Can't Get Enough" atNo. 5 in 1974 and "Movin' On" at No. 19 in early 1975.

In 1975 their second album, Straight Shooter, reached No. 3on Billboard's Pop Albums chart and also went platinum. Thealbum also spawned two hit singles, "Good Lovin' Gone Bad"at No. 36 and the slower "Feel Like Makin' Love" at No. 10.

Run With the Pack was Bad Company's third platinum-certified album, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard chart andfeatured the cover song "Young Blood," which peaked at No.20 on the Pop charts. Bad Company scheduled a British tourwith the band of former Free member Paul Kossoff, BackStreet Crawler, to support Bad Company's 1976 album RunWith the Pack as well as a new album by Back Street Crawler.

KECAK DANCEBali's Famous and Ins piring Kecak Dance Has a Richand Varied HistoryThe iconic Kecak dance, performed by large groups ofshirtless men chanting in rhythmic counterpoint as otherdances presents scenes from the ancient Mahabrata, is astaple of the Balinese dance repetroire that is enjoyed bythousands of Bali visitors each day.Performed by groups of tens or more men - oftentimesnumbering as much as 150, each segment of the kecak ispunctuated by choruses of chanted "cak...cak....cak"(pronounced as 'chak, chak, chak') .Dance aficionados in Bali argue endlessly that the hauntingsounds of the kecak represents the sounds of an army ofprimates in the service of monkey-like warrior Vanara;duplicates the percussive sounds sounds of the drums andgongs of a gamelan orchestra (gamelan suara); imitates thesound of the household gecko lizard or, at its most basiclevel, draws its inspiration from the "cak" singing of farmersheard in the evening from roadside arak stands across Bali..When we sat all these alternative descriptions before anaged Bali dance master, the old man scratched his chin andsuggested that each explanation of the unique sound of theKecak, considered individually or severally, might well betrue. Not subject to debate is that the fact that Kecak dancepresents a scene from the ancient Ramayana tale of thebattle between good and evil within the context of theabduction of Sita and the ensuing battle by Vanara againstthe evil King Rahawana.Setting aside the hour or so to attend a Kecak dance duringa Bali trip should form part of every visitors "must do" list.Village-based dance groups present dances on an almostdaily basis across Bali, with one of the most popularpresentations found at sunset each evening at the UluwatuTemple in South Bali. Those contemplating taking in a kecak might find the followplot synopsis useful in following the story line.Scene 1

Rama, Sita and Laksmana enter the dance area where theKecak chorus of men, sitting in concentric circles haveliterally "set the stage" by singing a mesmerizing chantedprologue. As the three dancers circulate a golden deerappears, begging capture by Prince Rama. In pursuit of thegolden deer, Rama leaves Sita and Laksmana alone on thedance floor.Suddenly a scream for "help" is heard, prompting SIta to

insist to Laksmana that the voice in distress must be that ofher husband Rama. Sita implores a reluctant Laksmana toinvestigate the screams, snidely suggesting Laksmanaperhaps seeks advantage in the death of her beloved Rama.Insulted at Sita's insinuations, Laksmana departs the stageleaving Sita utterly alone in the forest.Scene 2The evil King Rahwana appears, intent on kidnapping Sita. His initial attempts are unsuccessful causing him totransform himself into Bhagawan - an elderly man beggingwater from the Goddess Sita. When Site returns with the oldman's water she is kidnapped by Rahwana still posing as theaged Bhagawan.Sita's screams for assistance are heard by the mythicalGaruda bird flying nearby who responds by trying aid thecaptured Goddess. The Garuda's efforts to assist, however, are thwarted when Rahwana shoots the bird's wing with anarrow. The dastardly Rahwana then brings Sita to AlengkaPura - his personal palace.

Scene 3Meanwhile, Rama, his loyal servant and Laksmana havebecome lost in the forest of the Ayodya Palace. Longing forhis beloved wife Sita, who is now in the palace of the evilRahwana, Rama seeks the assistance of the White MonkeyHanoman to deliver his ring to the captive Sita as sign of theirenduring love.Scene 4Accompanied by the demoness niece of Rahwana, Trijata,Sita now spends her days lamenting the absence of herhusband Rama.Later, at the Alengka Palace, the White Monkey Hanomanappears, declaring himself the Emissary of Prince Ramaand presents Sita with the ring of her husband. Sita, in turn, presents flowers to Hanoman to be given to Rama, togetherwith a message imploring for urgent rescue. Wasting notime, Hanoman wreaks havoc on the Alengka Palace, destroying much of Rahwana's princely estate. In retaliation, the guards of the palace capture Hanoman who is bound

and prepared to be burnt at the stake. Calling on hisconsiderable reserves of magical power, Hanoman escapesand rescues Sita to be returned to Rama.
