For this action research I will choose the Kurt Lewin Model. Kurt Lewin, a German social
psychologist, has been credited with the development of the idea of action research. He first
found that eperimental methods, in many cases, were inade!uate and unsatisfactory. He then
tried to see" for a method that based on people#s realworld eperience$ from that time on, actionresearch has entered the world of researchers. %ccording to Kurt Lewin , action research is &a
comparative research on the conditions and effects of various forms of social action and
research leading to social action'$ this type of research uses &a spiral step,' each of which is
&composed of a circle of planning, action and fact(finding about the result of the action'. &Lewin
developed the classic model of action research that proceeds four(step repeating spiral of
planning, acting, observing and reflecting)Fig. *.+ can be considered the basis for many of the
more modern definitions of action research' Meyer, )+--.

5.1 Planning
I will ma"e a preparation to conduct the research. I will write lesson plans for the first
cycle. I will be the teaching material based on the topic stated in the curriculum. /he action plan
would be implemented by me. In this research, I will observe the whole phenomena during the
teaching and learning process in the classroom. I also will choose the appropriate techni!ues
supporting the process of the teaching of writing using guided writing. I will use a guided
composition activity being supported by series of pictures which pupils need to arrange words to
form a correct sentence and also se!uence the orders of all those correctly arranged sentences.

5.2 Acting
I will implement the action . /he essence of this lesson will be to provide pupils with new
materials and to ma"e preparation for the net class. I will start the lesson by reviewing the last
discussion and gave some !uestions dealing with the topic as brainstorming. I too will eplain to
pupils that they are to arrange words to form correct sentences and se!uence those sentences
accordingly to the storyline of series of pictures given. %fter the brainstorming, I will eplain
more about guided writing. I will go around the class to ma"e sure that all the pupils do their
tas". I also will give individual feedbac" to some pupils who really needed it. 0uring the pre(test
activity, I will wal" around the class again to control their activity.
0uring the following activity during the post test, I will be giving eplanations on how to
arrange word to form a correct sentence and also se!uencing those sentences into correct
order according to the story line. I will start the lesson by reviewing the last material and
collecting pupils# homewor". 1upils will be to do some tas" in their wor"sheet. I will be wal"ing
around the class to control their activity.
5.3 Observing
I will be observing their performances during pre(test. /his is to identify the wea"er
pupils and what will be their wea"nesses. Later, I will be setting the post(test which I believe
could improve pupils# understanding and "nowledge towards writing a better guided
composition. I believe that my pupils will be able to do it because I am going to use the
se!uencing method which I choose to be implemented in my study.
5.4 Reflecting
%fter I implement all those above stated strategies according to this module I believe that
my pupils should be achieving the followings2
+ /he pupils will be able to arrange ideas correctly. In this case, the sentences they will be able
to construct based on the my eplanations and eamples. /hey also will be able to use more
vocabularies in their writing.

3 /hey will have better understanding about the essence of guided writing so that they could
write without any interruption.
%ll pupils will be active enough in 4oining the lesson.
/he use of guided writing will be only one of the ways of improving the pupils# writing
s"ill. It can still be improved by the teacher as long as he or she is willing to do betterment on
his or her teaching, especially in teaching writing. 5here there is a will there is a way. He or she
can ma"e use of any techni!ues appropriate to the teaching of writing s"ill. /his activity re!uires
proper lesson plan and material. It should be designed to gain the pupils interest so that they
are actively involved in the lesson. It also needs considerable efforts from the teacher to find
suitable materials especially in modelling paragraph. 6ince the time to do the research was
limited, it is rather difficult for me to teach directly the topic stated in the curriculum by guided
writing.
% teacher cannot encourage the pupils to write freely whatever they wanted to write that
could accustom their selves to guided writing. In short, the use of guided writing as a means of
improving pupils# writing s"ill should be preceded by non threatening writing activities that can
help pupils get the essence of it. 7nce they found the overall writing process, they will be eager
to begin writing. 8y considering the improvements above, I strongly believe that guided writing
by se!uencing methods could improve the pupils# writing s"ill, especially on the aspect of
sentence construction which deals with structure and vocabulary. 8esides, the pupils will show
more positive attitudes towards writing although they could be reluctant to write the first time
they were as"ed to.
