out this season - you have all contributed to making this season a great one for our kids, and our Friday

nights could not run without you. Thank you to all athletes who have been a part of the 2014/15 season,

and we look forward to seeing you all together again at our Presentation Night. Don’t forget to RSVP by

the venue, or the club facebook page, to find where we are

withdrawing from any events so that we are not searching

for athletes for events in which they are not competing.

over the weekend, you can do so on 0402 917 126.

As with any Championship event we have been allocated

jobs to do at State, and parents of all participating athletes

Presentation Night – Change of venue to Windsor RSL!

Presentation Night for our U6 – U17 athletes will be held on Friday 17th April. Please note there has been a

change of venue due to renovations occurring at The Richmond Club, and we will now be at Windsor RSL.

The formalities will be starting at 6pm sharp, so please arrive and be seated before then. Athletes will be

KURRAJONG TRAINING SQUAD RESULTS by Marilyn Pearson

Australian Junior Athletics Championships, SOPAC,

Wed 11th-Sun 15th March, 2015

Five athletes from the Kurrajong Training Squad competed at the Australian Junior Championships at

Homebush from the 11th - 15th March. There were some very inspiring performances with some huge

personal bests recorded.

Most successful athlete was Caitlyn Ferrier, running another personal best in the U14 400m final to score a

Bronze medal in a very fast time of 59.49s. Tully Murphy jumped his way into the U15 Triple Jump final

with a gigantic 70cm PB where he placed an excellent 6th. Phoebe Young also performed well with 6th in

Long Jump and 9th in Triple Jump.

A good race also from Renee Hardy competing up an age in the U14 3000mW for 8th with another PB.

Page 4: Kurrajong-Bilpin Little Athletics Centre 2014-15 Summer Season · Chairman Darron Blanch Secretary Suzy Murphy Treasurer Alison Dunning Club Coach Marilyn Pearson Equipment Officer

Matilda Ryan had a very exciting race in her 800m heat lowering her personal best again by 2 seconds and

making her very first National final.

Individual results:

Caitlyn Ferrier U14G 400m Final BRONZE medal 59.49s (PB), 200m heat 5th 27.92

impressive 52.08m in the U17 Boys Javelin to take home a Bronze Medal. Competing at her very first

Nationals was Alanah Wiblen who finished 19th in the 80m hurdles in a time of 14.55s.

Sydney Track Classic

Two Kurrajong Training Squad athletes were invited to compete in the

Sydney Track Classic during the evening of Saturday 14th March at

Homebush. Sara Klein was again amongst the placegetters in the 400m

hurdles with 3rd place in another good time of 59.11s, while Jack Bangel

finished an excellent 6th place in 55.34s. Unfortunately a strong

headwind again affected times in the event. Sara flies to Melbourne at the

end of the week for the IAAF Melbourne World Challenge on Saturday.

The following week Jack, Sara and sister Kirsty, who will be contesting

the 10,000m race walk, will travel to the Gold Coast for the Australian

Open Championships.

KBLAC kids were also out in force at the Sydney Track Classic to see some of Australia’s top athletes in

action, including Dani Samuels and Melissa Breen. World 800m record holder David Rudisha was also a

big drawcard and crowd favourite.
