Women as a class have different functions to

fulfill in the social economy from those of

men…both national and social economy

require that women should occupy a station

of their own, distinct from that of men.

“Our aim in establishing Women’s University is

neither to copy the higher institutions for

women in America and Europe nor to rival the

men’s university courses in this country. We

aim to frame our study to suit the mental and

physical conditions of women at present…”

“There is a widespread tendency to regard

women merely as a tool or a machine destined

solely for services at home or for propagation

of family line; …we feel the necessity of

educating women as human beings, that we

may be able to call forth their consciousness as

personalities with infinite aspiration and

longings…”

helping women to become innovative leaders in

their fields and promote intercultural

understanding and sustainable development in

Asia and other parts of the world.”

We visualise the SNDT Women’s University as a

world class university that continually responds

to the changing social realities through the

development and application of knowledge.

The purpose of such engagement is to create

an inclusive society that promotes and protects

the dignity, equality, social justice and human

rights for all, with special emphasis on

empowerment of women.

Students participate more fully in & out of class.

Students report greater satisfaction than their

co-ed counterparts with their college experience

academically, developmentally and personally.

Students tend to choose traditionally male

disciplines like the sciences.

Students develop higher levels of self-esteem than

other achieving women in co-ed institutions.

After two years in co-ed institutions, women

showed to have lower levels of self-esteem than

when they entered college.

Have a higher percentage of majors in economics,

math and life science today than men at

coeducational colleges.

Nearly half the graduates have earned advanced

degrees and 81% have continued their education

beyond college.

Women's College students are more likely to

graduate.

They are more successful in careers; that is, they

tend to hold higher positions, are happier and earn

more money.
