00 Main Interface Introduction

Here is a quick introduction to the main interface in Krita.

By default, you can find in the main window:

01- the menu

02- the top ar

&et's take a quick look at each of these components.

01- The Menu(lassic component for a desktop application, the menu )i*es you access to different functions,

02- The Top Bar

"he ar at the top, ao*e the work area, contains the toolars. "hose are quick access to frequently

used features. 7sers can add4remo*e uttons in this area to adapt it accordin) to their workflow

ri)ht click in an empty area inside the ar: (onfi)ure "oolars ....

By default as on the screenshot, from left to ri)ht:

-8radient: select and edit )radients

-9atterns: select and edit patterns

-(olors: select fore)round and ack)round colors

-Brush preset editor: access the panel to edit and create rush presets

-Brush preset selector: access the list of presets complete, filtered y name or y ta)s

-ode: select the lendin) mode for current rush preset

-/raser: select the erase lendin) mode for current rush preset. (an also keep a separate

sie settin) if the option ;/raser switch sie< is acti*ated in the rush preset editor.

-=lpha: pre*ent the rush to paint on transparency

->eload: reload sa*ed settin)s from last rush preset selected

-"wo shortcuts for opacity, sie or flow settin)s for current rush preset. = third one is

03- The Tools Docker

"his docker contains all the different tools a*ailale. t is y default separated from other dockers,

04- The Work Area

"he area to display the current document. ultiple documents can e opened in tas y default or

in 3uwindows menu 3ettin)s (onfi)ure Krita 8eneral ultiple 6ocument ode. 5hen in

suwindows mode, you can automatically arran)e your opened documents in tiles or cascade

suwindows from the 5indow menu.

= ri)ht click in this area acti*ates the pop-up-palette, in which you can access your fa*orite presets

y )i*in) them a ta) and select it in the palette settin)s and so switch etween se*eral fa*orites set

with different ta)s .... "his palette also contains a simple color selector and last color used.

3ome position cursors are a*ailale on ottom and ri)ht sides.

05- Essential Dockers

By default on the ri)ht side, some essential dockers are acti*ated. Cou are free to acti*ate otherdockers, to or)anie them differently and to sa*e your workspaces. "his is e*en recommended ...

Cou can do this from the 3ettin)s menu, or with a ri)ht-click on the top of any docker.

3o y default you can find:

-the =d*anced color selector: you can confi)ure it for your needs y clickin) on the utton

on the top left corner

-"he 3pecific color selector: to select color *alues y channel, or y headecimal code

-"he (olor sliders: to select color y Hue, 3aturation and &i)htness

-&ayers: to mana)e your layer stack

-Brush preset selector: same as the one in the top toolar, to select one the installed presets.

Cou can filter presets y name, or creatin) )roups with ta)s.

-"ool options: options of the current selected tool

Ather dockers are a*ailale from the 3ettin)s 6ockers menu.

06- The Notiications Area

=t the ottom of the window, from left to ri)ht:

-the selection display mode switch ants or mask

-the name of the last selected rush preset

-the profile and color space of the file

-the resolution of the file

-the oom cursor

-the display mode: y default adapted to piel sie 1:1 piel for 100D oom,

allows to display the document accordin) to its print sie.
