&assion, and Ignorance. ow hear about these from /e. (17.0
O )rjuna, the faith of each is in accordance with ones own natural disposition (that is
go2erned b3 latent Karmic impressions ('amsara. One is nown b3 ones faith. One can
become whatever one wants to be (if one constantly contemplates (or visualizes) the object of
desire with deep faith in God and a burning desire). (17.!)
One can attain success in any endeavor if one perseveres with firm determination ("#
1$.1%!.11&). 'ou do not fail until you give up.
he doer of good acts becomes good and the doer of evil becomes evil. One becomes virtuous
by virtuous deeds and vicious by vicious acts (#r* +.+.%). ,e all have the power to change.
One becomes what one constantly and intensely thin-s of irrespective of reasons such as
reverence fear jealousy love or even hatred (# 11./.$$). 'ou always get what you loo- for000
consciously or unconsciously. he thought produces action action soon becomes habits and
habit leads to success in any endeavor when it becomes passion. #ecome passionate about what
you want to achieve and you will achieve it. #urning desire brings out the dormant forces.
4e are the products of our own thoughts and desires that ha2e accumulated o2ernumerous lifetimes. !houghts create our destin3. 4e become what we thin. !here is a
tremendous power in our thoughts to draw on the negati2e or positi2e energies around us.
4here there is a will, there is a wa3. ,e should harbor noble thoughts because thoughts
precede deeds. !houghts control our ph3sical, mental, financial, as well as spiritual well5
being.2ever allow any negative thought or doubt to enter. ,e have such a great power at our
disposal yet the irony is that we fail to use it. 3f you do not have what you want you are not
committed to it one hundred percent.
'ou are the cause of everything that happens to you. 'ou should not e4pect life5s very best if you
are not giving your very best. 6uccess is achieved by a series of well planned steps ta-en slowly

dreams without also being given the power and means to ma-e them come true. simple method
to order your subconscious mind to fulfill a noble desire is to visualize your goal during lpha
(half awa-e) state of mind just before sleeping every night for 1% minutes and have an absolute
faith that you will get what you want000within the limits of one5s abilities fate and destiny. 8aith

ersons in the mode of goodness worship celestial controllers those in the mode of passion
worship supernatural rulers and demons and those in the mode of ignorance worship ghosts and

3gnorant persons of demonic nature are those who practice severe austerities without following
the prescription of the scriptures who are full of hypocrisy and egotism who are impelled by theforce of desire and attachment and who senselessly torture the elements in their body and also

spiritual life. !he mind will be health3 if the bod3 is health3. &ersons in the mode of
goodness lie 2egetarian foods. One can also become a noble person by ta-ing vegetarian food
because one becomes what one eats.
&eople in the mode of passion lie foods that are 2er3 bitter, sour, salt3, hot, pungent, dr3,
and burning, and cause pain, grief, and disease. (17.0;
&eople in the mode of ignorance lie foods that are stale, tasteless, putrid, rotten, refuses,
and impure (such as meat and alcohol. (17.10
&urit3 of mind comes from purit3 of food. ruth is revealed to a pure mind. One becomes free

ual relationships, and meat5eating are a natural, negati2e tendenc3 of human beings, but
abstaining from these four acti2ities is reall3 di2ine.One must a2oid these four pillars of sin

!ruth is the root of all noble 2irtues. One should present the bitter pill of truth with a sugar
coating of pleasantness. #e truthful in a pleasant manner but do not deviate from truth for the
sa-e of pleasantness. *se candor with courtesy and avoid flattery. 6peech should always be
beneficial truthful and sweet. 6peech is the verbal reflection of one>s personality thin-ing and
mind therefore we should prefer silence to almost anything negative. bstinence from harmful
speech is very important.
he austerity of thought includes serenity of mind gentleness e?uanimity or silence self0
control and the purity of thought. (17.1&)
