THE 249 SUBS OF THE 27 NAKSHATRAS OF THE ZODIAC

Krishnamurthi Padathi takes into consideration the 27 nakshatras as mentioned in the first article. These nakshatras are divided in unequal divisions of 249 subs, known as the sub lords.

In actual fact, there are only 243 subs. In 6 cases, the same star and the same sub is found in the adjoining signs, as given below, to make them 249 subs totally.

1) In the nakshatra of the Sun in the signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius, the sub of Rahu is split into 2 parts:

2) Similarly, the nakshatra of the Jupiter in the signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius, the sub of Moon is split into 2 parts: From 29° 26' 40" to 30° and this continues to form 3 additional subs in the following signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces from 0° to 1° 23 ' 20 ", thereby giving 3 more additional subdivisions. By adding thee 6 sub-divisions to 243, we get 249 sub-divisions, known as sub lords, in all.
