BASICS HOW DO I WIN KRATER

Collect many characters

Try different character combinations

Try different set ups on your characters

Don’t be afraid to revisit areas that you already been in

to build your team and prepare it for next step in the

main campaign

Take your time to explore the world, no need to rush to

the end game

CHARACTER AND ITEM LEVELS

Items and characters come in varying levels. High level

characters have higher base stats and more slots available for

upgrades.

Items and weapons have higher damage output, better effect

decreased cast and cool down times the higher their level is.

LEVEL COLOR CODING

High level items can give other benefits as well such as

stat increases, leach ability or increased critical hit

chance.

COMMON (white/no color) – these will not affect these

stats

UNCOMMON (Green)

RARE (Blue)

EPIC (Purple/Pink)

TERMINOLOGY

DPS – Damage per second. Your average damage value per hit

times the number of hits per second gives your DPS.

LEACH – Your character will gain health based on a percentage

of the damage output.

CRIT – Every attack you make has a 10% chance to cause 1.5

times the damage

CHARACTERS THE SQUAD

You control a squad of three characters in the world. The

characters are of different races (the main release contain

humans and mutants) and classes (Bruisers, Medikus, Regulators

and Slayers).

You will be able to add new members to your roster as you set

out to explore the world.

This is something you should aim to since there are many

different combinations of races and classes to try out. You

Page 5: Krater User Guide

should also take into consideration that injuries and perma-

death (depending on the game mode) could potentially force

you to find a replacement for a character.

BRUISER

The Bruiser is excellent at soaking up damage, equipped with

the right gear he is truly a force to be reckoned with.

MEDIKUS

Having trouble staying alive? Bring a Medikus along to keep your

troops going. Some of their abilities can even be boosted to deal

damage as well.

REGULATOR

Regulators slow and stun enemies, but with the right implants

and boosters they can become fierce damage dealers, or

healers, as well.

SLAYER

The Slayer is excellent at dealing damage, however keep him out

of harm’s way or his life will be shortly spent.

CHARACTER STATS

Your characters have five basic stats:

STRENGTH - increases melee damage output and

decreases duration of status effects on the character.

DEFENCE - mitigates damage taken from all sources

FOCUS - increases damage with ranged weapons and

increases healing done by abilities

INTELLIGENCE - Decreases the cast time and cooldown

of all abilities.

STAMINA - increases health

CHARACTER ABILITIES

Characters have two abilities that can be accessed at any time

by pressing the corresponding ability key or clicking on the icon

on the Ability Bar.

Most abilities require you to select a target. When a target is

required, the cursor will change into a crosshair.

MOVING YOU CHARACTERS

Select one of your characters by left clicking or use box selection

to select multiple characters. Interact with other people like

myself by left clicking. Move your characters by right clicking.

Page 6: Krater User Guide

make your characters gain in rank. Gaining rank unlock upgrade

slots where you can fit implants and boosters that will increase

their stats and improve and modify their abilities.

CHARACTER WEAPONS AND GADGETS

Weapons will affect how much damage your characters do and

also determine the range of their attacks.

The injury meter has three states. Once it is full it indicates that

next knockdown will harm your character in one way or another

depending on the game mode.

The XP meter resets every time you level up.

INVENTORY The inventory is the storage of different items and weapons.

The inventory window is opened with (I) or the inventory button

in the ingame menu.

The inventory is a storage for your team and regardless which

character you have selected the inventory contain the same

items.

EQUIPPING WEAPONS AND GADGETS

Weapons and gadgets are equipped from the inventory.

Right click on an item in your inventory to equip it to the

character you are currently viewing. If there is another item

already equipped it will be replaced.

INVENTORY SIZE AND SECTIONS

The inventory is divided into four sections, each with 30 slots.

Items of the same type are stackable, meaning that they only

occupy one slot. A small number in the right down corner show

how many you own have of one item type.

SELLING INVENTORY ITEMS

Find a vendor or an arms dealer in the world (check for the gun

or shopping cart icon) and click on them to open their shop

window. Once the shop window is open you will be able to sell

items by right clicking them in the inventory. They can be bought

back as long as the shop window is kept open in the BUY BACK

window.

WEAPONS

That means that a

bruiser weapon can

only be used by a

bruiser.

carry one weapon

at a time. Weapons

characters do and

the range of their

attacks.

VALUABLES

Valuables is a catch

all tab. Here you

ingredients, quest

items and valuable

Page 13: Krater User Guide

loot that you can sell.

BLUEPRINTS

Blueprints are the first step to craft an item. They are found in

the world and can either be sold or learned. The latter is done

by right clicking them in the inventory. Once learned you will

know them forever.

UPGRADES

Upgrades are either Boosters or Implants. Both can be found as

loot, bought from a vendor or crafted from a blueprint.

Boosters are used to customize your abilities. They will affect

your casting /cool down time and/or add buffs/debuffs to your

abilities. A Slayer can for instance add heal to his STAB, meaning

that he will heal himself as he deals damage to the enemy.

Implants are used to increase your character stats by fitting

them in your characters implant slots.

Both are fitted in the TEAM MANAGEMENT WINDOW.

Page 14: Krater User Guide

TEAM MANAGEMENT The team management window is where you select characters, install implants and boosters and monitor their stats and injuries.

Page 15: Krater User Guide

Page 16: Krater User Guide

COMBAT and HEALTH Your character health is based on the STAMINA value (the higher

stamina stat the higher health). Every time a character is hit in

combat her health is decreased based on the damage output

minus the character defense value.

Your health regenerates but you will find that you in tense

combats probably need to have access to additional healing. The

Medikus character is specialized in healing her team mates but

all characters can add heal boosters to their abilities.

KNOCKDOWN

Once the health meter reaches zero your character suffers a

KNOCKDOWN and their INJURY METER fills up one step.

A knocked down character remains out until revived.

REVIVING KNOCKED CHARACTERS

You revive a character by right clicking on him or her (the

cursors is changed to a blue angel icon to indicate that this is

possible).

NOTE: You are only allowed to revive a character when you are

out of combat. That means that at least one of your characters

needs to survive and win a combat to be able to revive the

others.

GAME MODES and INJURIES Depending on the GAME MODE you are playing it will have the

following consequenses:

CASUAL

A character who suffers a KNOCKDOWN will have their injury

meter increased with one step. Once the INJURY METER is filled

up (on the fourth KNOCKDOWN if the character is not taken to

see a Doctor in between) she will receive an injury that will

affect her stats negatively. Some injuries can be cured by a

doctor (found in different settlements throughout the Krater).

The INJURY METER is reset once an injury is suffered.

Please note that a character can only suffer from three injuries,

after that she becomes immune to any further suffering.

NORMAL

The normal game mode works in the way as the CASUAL but

when a character received her fourth injury she is dead -

forever.

HARDCORE

In HARDCORE game mode every KNOCKDOWN causes an injury.

Page 17: Krater User Guide

THE WORLD You will explore the Krater world and the Solside nation through

the 3D map. The cursor represents your squad as it traverses the

land.

You will find that locations appear as you closing in on them.

Some of them are locked and in order to open them you might

need to complete a quest. Other are open for access as soon as

you find them. Right click on a location to enter them

DIFFICULTY LEVELS

There are no boundaries as long as you stay within Solside but

you should know that the further you travel away from the

starting areas the more dangerous the bandits, beasts and other

threats you might encounter will be.

A wise choice is to stay on the roads as they are generally safer

that the surrounding wilderness.

SETTLEMENTS

As you travel the map you will encounter different settlements,

towns, villages or even cities. The start location, Norrmalm is

one.

Here you will find merchants and vendors where you can buy

and sell loot, weapons, crafting materials and implants for your

characters.

Settlements have small icons next to their name in the 3d world

map which indicates the services available in them.
