(GLA) Trashy Fashion Show will for the firsttime cross the borders of the Kouga regionand take to the catwalk at theNelsonMandelaMetropolitan University (NMMU) in PortElizabeth.“We have been invited to form part of the
opening ceremony of the prestigious First Le-goLeague (FLL) tournament at theNMMUIn-door Sport Centre on October 24,” says anelated Lizette Kemp, organiser of the TrashyFashion Show.“This means that not only will the models
showcase their outfits at our show, but theywill also showcase their ‘trashy wear’ at thetournament.“This will furthermore grant us the oppor-
tunity to promote GLA’s Echo Campus.”In addition to the fashion show, the mod-

in the industry because of his training, skilland commitment. He started learning thefundamentals of the trade nine years agowhenhe joined Shoprite as a student sausagemaker. “Before that, I knew nothing aboutboererwors,” says Dyanse.Now, he has perfected grinding, seasoning,

is by no means only the ignorant whoare duped. Unsuspecting taxpayersreceive an SMS from “SARS eFilingAlert”, informing them that theyqualify for a tax credit payment by theSouth African Revenue Service E-Fil-ing. The victim is then prompted tosend his or her banking details.When the scammers are equipped
with the necessary information, theycan steal funds from your account atany time.Sars warns taxpayers to be extra
vigilant.Sars urges all taxpayers to rather

THE third edition of the Core Sokkie Jol pre-sented by Sector 9, went down in torrentialconditions at the Die Vrieskas BlueWater Es-tate on July 18.
The Sokkie Jol is a fun skateboarding eventthat combines downhill riding with obstacles(turns, berms and ramps). The day startedwith two-hours of practice runs for the ridersto get used to thewet conditions. Theweathercouldn’t deter the riders who attacked thecourse with gusto.When the 43 entrantswere thoroughly used
to the course (and thoroughly soaked, manywearing black bags to keep them dry) the rac-ing got underway with a time trial. Fromthere the top 32went into aman-on-man, elim-ination race format.The ‘godfather’ of downhill racing in South
Africa, Kent Lingeveldt, who travelled from
CapeTown for the event. “Sure it’s dangerousin thewet, but only as dangerous as youmakeit,” he commented during the early runs. “It’snew tar here, so even though it’s wet, it’sslightly grippy so cats can still go fast. Ob-viously not as fast as if it were dry, but it’scontrollable,” he said.Tyron Coetzee took the win. “It was very
interesting coming up here to help out withthe setup. It was dry and I was amped, but to-day was pouring with rain, so it was wet andslippery,” he said afterwards. “There were alot of guys sliding out. It was really intense,so you really had to think about what you’redoing.”
