The trade and economic relations between India andRepublic of Korea (Korea) have gathered momentum inrecent years with annual bilateral trade reaching $21.5billion in 2018, crossing $20 billion mark for the first time.Bilateral trade in Jan-Nov 2019, the latest data as ofDecember 2019, recorded $19.05 billion. The bilateralComprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement(CEPA), set in place since 2010, has spurred the trade andinvestments both ways.   Few of the products fromPlastics (Chapter 39) are part of the CEPA.

South Korea, the world's leader in plastic consumptionper capita were plastics are widely used, from daily lifeto the industrial or construction industry, due to theirlightweight design and low cost. In modern society inKorea, living without plastic would be almostimpossible in everyday life.   The potential to ventureinto this market is huge.

The Government of India has identified some tarifflines which have the potential for increased exportsfrom India to Republic of Korea. In addition to this,Council has undertaken further analysis and enlistedcertain products based on the information from theEmbassy of India, Republic of Korea for which exportsfrom India can be enhanced. The details of theproducts are as below:
