G eliefdes in die Here Jesus Christus

Oktobermaand is die mooiste maand...dit sê ons en hoor ons in hierdie tyd. Dit is so, want die aankondiging van die somer en die eerste reëns gee ons HOOP. Ons het weer ‘n lus om

te leef, te sien en te geniet!

Maar helaas! Dit is ook die tyd van die jaar wanneer mense ‘n gevoel van moedeloosheid en ‘hoop-loosheid’ ervaar. Dis die tyd wanneer baie mense op die lewe wil opgee.

Daarom was daar altyd in ons Gemeente die gewoonte om ‘n Oktober-fees te hou. Ons wil weer HOOP kry, nie vae, onseker hoop nie, maar Goddelike Hoop! Ons wil die lam knieë en hande weer versterk hê, weer opgewonde raak oor die lewe. Oktoberfees 2014, het dit presies gedoen. Dr Stephan Joubert het by verskeie sessies met ons oor HOOP gepraat. Ons is versterk deur die sekerheid dat Jesus ons hoop is, want deur Sy onvoorwaardelike liefde, sterwe en oorwinning het Hoop vir ons ‘n Persoon geword. In Hom het ons hoop om in hierdie lewe en die lewe na die dood, voluit te kan lewe en te geniet.

‘n Klompie mense is getref deur hierdie woorde van Stephan: “As jy in ‘n kop-aan-kop-botsing met Jesus betrokke was...is jy mors-dood. Jy leef nie meer nie, maar dis Hy wat nou in jou leef...jy is ‘n nuwe mens, die oue is dood!” Ons wil weer op Jesus fokus en nie op ons probleme en omstandighede nie. Ons wil nie toelaat dat negatiewe gedagtes en seermaak-optrede van mense ons fokus vernietig nie.

Daarom wil ek elkeen weer oproep om uit te sien na die somer wat kom, die natuur wat bot en groei. Maar ek wil jou ook aanmoedig om weer Goddelike Hoop te kry deur jou sorge, hartseer en probleme vir Jesus te gee en uit te sien na ‘n wonderlike Kersseisoen. Die Kerstyd wil jou herinner dat ’n lewe in Jesus se voetspore, die krag en hoop is wat jy nodig het.

Mag die genade en liefde van Jesus self, jou HOOP wees...vandag, môre en in alle omstandighede!

B eloveds in the Lord Jesus Christ

The month of October is the most beautiful … we say this and hear it said in this month. It is so because spring announces the arrival of summer and the first rains bring us HOPE! We

want to live fully, to see and enjoy everything around us! Sometimes however, it is the time of year when people feel discouraged and hope-less. It can be the time when people want to give up on life.

That’s why our congregation has the habit of holding an October Festi-val. We want to engender HOPE, not vague, uncertain hope, but Di-vine Hope! We want to strengthen lame knees and hands, become excited about life once more. The October Festival 2014 has done just that. Dr Stephan Joubert spoke to us in various sessions about HOPE. We are invigorated by the certainty that Jesus is our hope, because through His unconditional love, death and resurrection, our Hope be-came a Person. In Him we have the hope, in this life and the life after death; that we can live life fully and with joy.

A number of people were struck by these words from Stephan: “If you are involved in a head on collision with Jesus … you are as dead as a door nail. You live no longer, He is the one that lives in you … you are a new person, the old you is dead!” We want to focus on Jesus and not on our problems and circumstances. We don’t want to allow nega-tive thoughts and the painful actions of people to change our focus. Therefore I want to call on each one of you to joyfully anticipate the coming summer and all nature that buds and grows. At the same time I urge you to let Divine Hope blossom by giving your anxieties, heart-aches and problems to Jesus and looking forward to a wonderful Christmas Season. This Christmas time will remind you that by follow-ing Jesus throughout your lives will bring the strength and hope that you need.

May the grace and love of Jesus Himself, be your HOPE… today, tomorrow and in all circumstances!

Die NG Kerk Constantiakruin het pas hul eerste vrou as Voorsitter van die Gemeenteraad aangestel.

Andriesa Singleton is verkies tot dié posisie in ’n onlangse vergadering. Sy dien reeds die afgelope vier jaar as lid van die Gemeenteraad, waar sy aanvanklik Departement Kommu-nikasie en Bemarking verteenwoordig het.

Buiten vir dié aanstelling, is daar ook reeds drie ander vroue wat op die Gemeenteraad dien. Ds. Jana de Lange as Leraar; Juvika Wiese (Diaken: Opdrag—Visionêr); en Ilza Engelbrecht (Ouderling: Opdrag—Visionêr) verteenwoordig die vroulike geslag op die raad. Die Gemeenteraad bestaan uit 17 lede.

Ds. Jana de Lange, betrokke by die Engelse Dienste van Con-stantiakruin, het as boorling van die Wesrand, ook die geskiedenisbordjies van Constantiakruin verhang, deur die eerste vrouepredikant te word wat hier aangestel is.

Tweespalt, konflik en skeuring in gemeentes is alombekend! Baie hiervan begin by leraars en/of leraarsvroue, wat vir welke rede ookal, nie klaarkom nie. In talle gevalle word onberekenbare skade aan die werk van die Here gedoen.

Daarom is gesonde kollegaskap vir ons leraars van uiterste belang. Om verder hiermee te help, verplig die kerkraad sy leraars om jaarliks saam met hulle eggenote vir ‘n paar dae tyd met mekaar te spandeer. Hierdie jaar was ons leraars vir ‘n heerlike paar dae saam in die Bosveld.

Dr. Stephan Joubert van e-Kerk was gaspredikant en -spreker by NG Constantiakruin se Oktoberfees. Dr. Joubert het die vergrootglas geplaas op Goddellike Hoop.

G een warm water, geen spoeltoilette en water wat in die dorp ná ses in die aand afgesny word.

Dit was ons ervaring op die eerste dag — maar dis nie wat Makatini is nie.

Asemrowende vlaktes, vriendelik gasvrye mense. Makatini is ‘n plekkie in KwaZulu-Natal waar mense nie net sê hulle is Christene nie, maar dit uit-leef in hul gebede en lofsang. En alhoewel ons nie die woorde wat hul bid en sing verstaan nie, het ons die passie in die

woorde ervaar.

Makatini is soveel meer: mense wat van ver af stap om God te eer, wat so hard sing dat dit voel asof die tent se dak gaan lig en so bly is dat ons daar is om hul van God te vertel dat hul ons oorlaai met geskenke, pere, handsakke en tot ‘n hoender wat ons “Ken, die hen” gedoop het.

Ek sluit af met die woorde “Jeso Bambylena” wat hou vas aan Jesus beteken. En alhoewel die meeste mense wat na die tentdiens toe gekom dit nie breed het nie, hul elke dag só vashou aan Jesus en dit inderdaad vir ons ’n voorbeeld was van hoe om God regtig met jou hele hart te dien.

MEMORANDUM VAN EENWORDING TUSSEN NG GEMEENTE CONSTANTIAKRUIN EN

NG GEMEENTE FLORIDA

Die Kerkraad van NG Gemeente Florida het na deeglike besinning besluit om NG Gemeente Constantiakruin te versoek om een gemeente te word. Weens die veranderde demografiese omstandighede in die Florida gebied, die ouerwordende gemeentelede en min kinders kan daar nie meer sinvol met 'n bediening voortgegaan word nie.

Die kerkraad van Florida het toe besluit om Constantiakruin te nader om een te word sodat daar 'n beter bediening vir die lidmate van Florida kan wees. Nadat die leiers van die twee gemeentes mekaar ontmoet het, is daar 'n konsep Memorandum vir Eenwording opgestel en is dit aan die verskillende kerkrade vir goedkeuring voorgelê. Altwee kerkrade het die konsep Memorandum teen 28 Oktober 2014 aanvaar en goedgekeur.

In hierdie Memorandum van Eenwording kom die twee kerkrade ooreen dat die twee gemeentes op 1 Desember 2014 een gemeente word ooreenkomstig die Kerkorde se Reglement 23.3 en sal funksioneer onder die naam NG Gemeente Constantiakruin tot eer van God se Koninkryk. Die lidmate van NG Gemeente Florida kan eredienste by enige van die bestaande eredienste-punte van NG Gemeente Constantiakruin bywoon.

Daar is ooreengekom dat die twee jeugwerkers van die NG Gemeente Florida, Johan Woest en Shané Pienaar, vir ten minste een jaar deel sal wees van die bediening en dat hul sal voortgaan met hul bediening in Laerskool en Hoërskool Florida. Die Bejaardesorg in Ons Huis, Kosprojek saam met WCC in Florida se kerksaal en die Baksteenbende-uitreik na Florida Laerskoolkinders sal voortgaan.

Hierdie besluit en ooreenkoms word nou aan die twee gemeentes voorgehou en Belydende Lidmate mag tot en met 16 November 2014 daarop reageer. Alle reaksie moet skriftelik by die kerkkantore van die onderskeie gemeentes ingehandig word.

Tydslyn:

28 Oktober 2014: Besluit van beide kerkrade oor die goedkeuringvan Memorandum van verstandhouding en besluit tot eenwording.

Afkondiging van die besluit van die twee kerkrade vir approbasie aandie gemeentes op twee Sondae (2 en 9 November 2014).

16 November 2014 besoek dr Anton Fick met 'n groep vanConstantiakruin die gemeente Florida tydens die erediens om dieFlorida lidmate oor Constantiakruin in te lig en hulle uit te nooi om bydie nuwe gemeente in te skakel.

Na sewe dae verstreke is en as daar geen besware ontvang is nie, ligdie kerkrade die Ringskriba op 17 November 2014 van die besluit toteenwording in.

23 November 2014 is daar 'n Nagmaalsdiens by die kerkgebou vanNG Gemeente Florida en eet ons na die erediens almal saam in dieKerksaal.

30 November 2014 is die laaste erediens by die kerkgebou van NGGemeente Florida en ontvang ds. Ferdinand Boll sy demissie.

1 Desember 2014 word NG Gemeente Florida een met NGGemeente Constantiakruin en sal deur hulle bedien word.

7 Desember 2014 kom alle lidmate van NG Gemeente Florida watgraag na die erediens by NG Gemeente Constantiakruin wil gaan bydie kerkgebou van NG Gemeente Florida bymekaar en vertrek saamas groep om die eerste erediens by NG Gemeente Constantiakruinby te woon.

MEMORANDUM OF UNIFICATION BETWEEN THE CONGREGATIONS OF

NG CONSTANTIAKRUIN AND NG FLORIDA

The Church council of NG Florida has after deep reflection, decid-ed to request that NG Constantiakruin allow them to join together as one congregation. Due to the changing demographics in the Florida area, the ageing of the congregation members and few children attending, to continue a fulltime separate ministry no longer makes sense. The Church council from Florida decided to approach Constantiakruin re amalgamation so that better ministry is available for the members at Florida.

After the leaders of the two congregations met together, a Memoran-dum of Unification was compiled and presented to the Church councils of the different churches for approval. Both Church councils accepted the concept Memorandum by the 28th October 2014 and it was ap-proved.

In this Memorandum of Unification the two Church councils agree that the two congregations become one congregation on the 1st December 2014, in accordance with the “Kerkorde” Regulation 23.3 and will func-tion under the name NG Constantiakruin to the honour of God’s King-dom. The members of NG Florida may attend any of the services at the existing service venues at NG Constantiakruin.

It is agreed that the two youth workers from NG Florida, Johan Woest and Shane Pienaar, will be part of the ministry for at least one year, and will continue with their ministries at Laerskool and Hoerskool Flori-da. The Care for the Aged at Ons Huis, Food project together with WCC in Florida’s church hall and the Baksteenbende (Brick Gang) out-reach to Florida Laerskool children will continue.

This decision and agreement is now being put before the two congre-gations and Members in good standing have until the 16th November to comment. All comments must be handed in to the church offices of the relevant churches in writing.

Time line:

28th October 2014: Decision by both church councils about the ap-proval of the Memorandum of Understanding and the decision of Uni-fication.

Announcement of the decisions of the two church councils for approv-al by the congregations on two Sundays (2nd & 9th November 2014)

16th November 2014 Dr. Anton Fick, together with a group of Con-stantiakruin members will visit Florida during their service to advisethe congregation about Constantiakruin and invite them to join thenew congregation.

After seven days have passed without any objections being raised,the church councils will inform the “Ringskriba” on the 17th November2014 of the Unification decision.

23rd November 2014 a Communion Service will be held in the NGFlorida church and after the service a luncheon for everyone will beserved in the Church hall.

30th November 2014 will be the last worship service held in thechurch building of NG Florida, and Ds Ferdinand Boll will receive his“demissie”, a farewell ceremony.

1st December 2014 NG Florida will become one with NG Constan-tiakruin and will be served by them.

7th December 2014 all the members of NG Florida who wish to at-tend services at NG Constantiakruin, will meet at NG Florida Churchand travel together as a group to attend the first worship service atNG Constantiakruin.

Na ‘n paar jaar se fun in die garage (dis nou ons jeug se uithangplek), het ons besluit dis ‘n goeie idee om die plek bietjie op te knap. Van die verf het ons as geskenk gekry. So, op braaidag het ons die jongklomp van Wipeout en die 20- Something-sel

bymekaar gekry om die dag saam met die Gemeente te geniet, saam aan die

hoender te smul wat op die spit gebraai is en om die garage so bietjie van ‘n ‘facelift’ te gee. En glo ons: dit was ‘n ongelooflike lekker dag.

The story of humanity starts with a kiss, a kiss from God.

What He exhales is what we inhale. God wakes humanity

up in the Garden of Eden.

We are the end product of His creation and we are created in

His image. Our story starts in a garden and in this garden we

receive an invitation from the Creator, an invitation to live, to

dream, to imagine, to risk and to create. The Scriptures end

with a city on a hill. But what is a city? A city is just gardens

that have been organized. So it starts in a garden and ends

with a city and in between we have an invitation to be co-

creators under the auspices of God.

This is Urban Poet3 (pronounced “poetry”): urban is our area

and our surroundings and poet3 is about beauty, rawness

and truth found in the Triune God. So this invitation is to cre-

ate beauty in our surroundings. From our soul we have all the

material to bring beauty, goodness and truth to life. Jesus is

the ultimate Artist and through our lives He paints a picture on

the worldly canvas, that picture we call: A Masterpiece. Jesus

invites us to not only know that we are works of art, but also

artists at work.

The world needs your artisan soul to give birth to the dreams

God has placed within your hearts and imagination. Nothing

will ever be as significant as your own life which you create

with the Creator... So you have to ask yourself: “What would

the world look like if my life was my greatest work of art?” This

is what Urban Poet3 calls you to.

Elsa Portwig is die afgelope paar maande reeds hard besig met die mooimaak van Constantiakruin se tuine. Met die Lente wat sy verskyning gemaak het, is die tuin ’n lus-hof vir ieder en elk.

Tannie Marielienne Botha wasvir bykans 40 jaar betrokke by die tuine van Constantiakruin, waar sy op eie onkoste ’n lushof vir die oog geskep het.

Some 12 years ago I was given the opportunity to attend the Methodist Synod held at Calvary Methodist Church. I was merely an observer, but it was very interesting and I learnt many things. Towards the end of the Synod, Bishop Paul Verryn an-nounced that he was bringing someone to address the Synod, and by the way he spoke, and ushered her in with deference, I realised that she was someone of importance. It was Sheena Duncan, one of the activists of the Black Sash Movement that had been active during the apartheid era.

What she had to say was fascinating in many ways, but for me, the one comment she made that had great impact in my life, was that "Here we were, years past the apartheid time, and yet, as Chris-tians, still caught up in a bunker mentality, where we do not inter-act, generally speaking, with people of other races." The example she used was that we all travelled around in our vehicles with the windows tightly closed. She wondered how we would ever get to know one another if we couldn't even chat through the window at the robot. I knew that generally it was deemed a safety measure, but her words so touched me that I decided to travel, whenever possible, with my window open and make contact. It became an issue of Trust. Did I really believe that God would take care of me or not? The years have passed, my Faith in God's promises has grown, and my fear levels decreased to zero most of the time. This is my ongoing Journey with God.

The first trip was early in the year, I was returning from Sandringham area through Balfour Park. There is a large intersection outside the Balfour Park shopping centre, 3 roads intersect, turning lanes every which way and I was far from the pavement waiting for the robot to change. My passenger win-dow was wide open, it was hot.

Out of nowhere, it seemed, there was a face peering in the open window, a Jewish woman, well dressed, makeup and hair in place, asked if I could give her a lift. I asked where to and she asked where I was going. Not a reassuring answer. I said Florida; she wanted to be dropped off in Parkhurst. I agreed and she got into the car. We chatted, the story of her car breaking down and so on, was I believe the truth, but not ALL the truth, and I got the impres-sion that if I had offered her a bed for the night, she would have accepted with alacrity. By now I was asking God what to do, but we were having a pleasant if somewhat wacky conversation.

She told met that shes looking after a vriend’s cat in Parkhurst, She directed me to the home in Parkhurst; I was concerned for her, but believed that she would be fine. I said that I hoped that she would travel safely and believed that God would keep her in His care.

Then, she turned towards me, took my hands in hers and prayed the most beautiful prayer,

asking Jehovah to Bless and Keep me. It was stunning and I replied with a similar prayer in the name of Jesus. We parted with Joy.

The second trip was coming home from Krugersdorp. There is a double road through Wentworth Park with a wide pavement. As I travelled along the road, a young woman, shabbily dressed and grubby, was walking and begging for a lift. I thought, "I hope

someone gives her a lift" as I drove by. The thought came to me, "Give her a lift." "Really Lord?" So I turned back and went to fetch her. She said she lived in Krugersdorp with her mother and small son, and needed to get to her begging corner in Delarey. I took her along. We chatted about family, hard life, did she know God? She knew about Him, I believe, someone she had heard about, didn't know Him though. I took her through to Delarey, stopped out-side a house in a side street, she got out, I asked her to wait, reached behind the seat to get my handbag and couldn't find my purse.

She peered in the window and pointed to the floor. I thought it had fallen out of my bag, picked it up and discovered that all the money, notes and change was gone. She swore she knew nothing about it, I told her that I had wanted to give her some money, but seeing as how she had helped herself, so be it. She crossed the road. I sat for a few moments gathering myself together, felt rather shaky and then drove off. I planned to go round the block and back to Ontdek-kers road, then the thought came to me, go

back and tell her what she's done. Oh no! Just want to go home. Again, Go back and tell her what she's done to herself! Alright Lord.

So I drive round the block. Stopped outside the house and ham-mered on the gate. A young boy looked out the window, and came out. I told him to call her. Finally she comes to the gate with her arms crossed and her hands under her jacket. "Have you any idea what you have done to yourself? You have put yourself under the curse. When you steal, you move away from the Blessing of the Lord and call the curse upon you. You can repent and go back, but if you don't, you will be cursed. During this time she constantly repeats that she hasn't stolen anything, upon which I said to her that that is nonsense and she's done herself great damage. As I was about to leave, having said what I felt was necessary, she sud-denly pulled her hand out from under her jacket and handed me my l.D. book and Driver's License.

How God cares for us in every detail, think of the hassle of apply-ing for those necessary documents!

God is wonderfully and Gloriously good to us. He is Love, and He loves and cares for us always. He kept me safe on the 2 trips that I have taken, and He continues to Bless me on my ongoing Journey with Him.

Nie-lidmate wat uiteindelik lidmate geword het weens hul in-teraksie met lede van die Beradingsspan, getuig graag dat juis dít hul tot Constantaikruin aangetrek het.
