I have been asked many times in the last couple of months “Why are we calling you a family pastor?” Statistics show that only 10% of parents who regularly attend church with their kids read the Bible together, pray together (other than at meal times) or par- ticipate in an act of service as a family unit. children. 2. To empower your children to make an impact—starting with their fam-

ily, their church, and their community

I am passionate about families not just surviving, but thriving in this life God has given them. I have been asked many times in the last couple of months “Why are we calling you a family pastor?” Statistics show that only 10% of parents who regularly attend church with their kids read the Bible together, pray together (other than at meal times) or par-ticipate in an act of service as a family unit.

Only 28% of churched youth have talked with mom about faith. Only 13% of churched youth have talked with dad about faith. And 69-94% of evangelical children are leaving the church shortly after they grad-uate from high school.

Admittedly, this problem is tempt-ing to lay at the feet of our culture. The Scriptures are, however, clear that the home is where faith is nur-

tured and passed from generation to generation. (Deuteronomy 6:1-9, 2 Timothy 1:5).

I am passionate about families not just surviving, but thriving in this life God has given them.

Because of this, we’re making a commitment to actively work to build bridges between church and home by providing resources to equip you, their parent, in the are-as of spiritual formation, parent-ing, and personal formation.

Moving forward we will provide opportunities for both your kids and you, the parent, to konnect, kommunicate, and kommit, starting with this newsletter : KidZone Konnect!

These are exciting times!

MOMENTS

1. Allow for generosity. If you give

your kids an allowance, label a

savings jar where they can do-

nate funds to go to a local charity.

Don’t make it mandatory; Let your

kids choose how much and when

to give of what they’ve earned.

2. A popular place for kids to vol-unteer is with local animal shel-ters. Kids love interacting with the pets, and shelters are often in great need of extra helping hands. Warning: You may come home with a new addition to the family! 3. When sharing biblical concepts with your kids, encourage their interruptions and pause often. Let children share their thoughts and pose questions. You’ll discover whether they have adequate “mental hooks” (or previous knowledge) on which to hang new information.
