It is that time of year again when we seek interested members of our school community to join us on School Council. Inverloch and Kongwak Prima-ry Schools each have their own inde-pendent Councils. “Acting as a team,
2nd March 2017
council supports the Principal to pro-vide the best possible outcomes for stu-dents.”(Improving School Council Gov-ernance Handbook 2016). The role of School Council includes: participating in the monitoring of the Strategic Plan, approving the Annual Budget and moni-toring expenditure, developing, review-ing and up-dating policies, raising funds for school related purposes, maintain-ing school grounds and facilities, re-porting annually to the school commu-nity and to the Department, creating interest in the school in the wider com-munity, informing itself and taking into account the views of the community and regulating and facilitating the after hours use of school premises and grounds. School Council at each school meets at least 8 times a year (twice per term) with some involvement expected on sub-committees such as Buildings and Grounds, Finance and Education. A huge thank you to Dermot Griffin, Karl Scothern and Sandy Norton from Inver-loch whose terms conclude this year. They are able to renominate. Roman Schmidt is retiring from the Kongwak School Council and on behalf of the whole school community I would like to thank him for the 6 years he has served on the Council, including 2 years as President. Mel Gibson-Goldsmith is also retiring following a number of years on Council and again, on your behalf I would like to thank her for all she has done during her term. Kath Brown’s term on council is also complete but she is eligible for re-nomination. At this time I would like to thank all our School Councillors for their time and support of our school. If you would like to nominate for School Council please collect a form from the office.

Your help would be very much appreciated. Please contact Kath Brown 0438 574 531 for further infor-mation.
FARMERS MARKET A big thank you to George Fairlie, Gab Patterson and Jessica, Ash & Isla McLean for helping at the Farmers Market last Sunday. Your time and help is really appreciated.
What a lovely morning tea we had on Monday morning for Gab’s 50th Birthday!
We were joined by her husband Marty and children Hannah, Ruby & Hamish.
Marty played the guitar and entertained us all, which the children really enjoyed.
