I have always been a believer. A believer in the transformational power that lies within the love one has for oneself and for others. The Chinese philosopher, Lao Zi once said “At the center of your being you have the answer, you know who you are and you know what you want.” This rings as true to me now as it did when I first heard it back in college on a rainy day, sitting on the lawn after a Physical Education class.

Our cover title ‘You Are Magnificent’ is both a profound and simple message. Profound as magnificence comes in all forms and cannot be quantified, yet so simple, it is our greeting and compliment to you. We know for sure there is something truly brilliant and worthy of celebration in each one of us.

In this issue we welcomed our Thought Ambassador Kat Dawes, to explore the meaning of Magnificence with us in her open letter to you, page 242. Kat started her art and creative journey as a professionally trained ballerina, and her modern practice, NOWism which is all about living in the now, has brought me clarity during life’s character defining moments by bringing my focus back to the present moment. So it is my honour to share with you this special feature that is very close to my heart.

Our love and passion for beauty has never been so palpable. We opened this issue of KONCIERGE with the exquisite work shot by Michele Aboud featuring the stunning Lucy Blay in the story simply titled Beauty, page 32, honoring the simplicity of this universal quality that is everywhere in life. I am absolutely thrilled that Charlize Theron is the first actor and Hollywood star we have ever interviewed as not only is she a modern day beauty icon but her candid voice and talent outshines the extraordinary beauty she was born with making her success both spectacular and grounded, page 61.

EDITOR’SLETTER

Travel takes on a new meaning in our Peking Opera story featured in Michele Aboud’s interview, page 38. Since day one, it has been our desire to discover unique ways to bring the Eastern and Western cultures and economies closer, and seeing one of Australia’s most respected photographers travel far and beyond to capture moments through her eyes of one of the most important cultural assets of China, reaffirming the value of cross cultural and industry collaborations.

In A Horse With No Name, page 218, contemporary Chinese artist Qiu Jun revealed that his connection with horses dates all the way back to the year of 1999. In a moment of solitude and reflection of his own path, a horse emerged out of nowhere and moved towards him in a clear field in Mongolia. The surprise shocked him into another realm of reality and suddenly he saw with his own eyes that beyond a living being, this life force was running towards him as if it was his own soul returning home. Deep down he knew a new journey was about to begin.

Airline travel used to be all about excitement and glamour. Not accessible like it is today with thousands of commuters on peak-hour flying-people-movers, air travel in days of yore meant dressing up – it was an occasion to experience in style.

Photographer, Sonny Vandevelde, and KONCIERGE Fashion Director Michael Azzollini teamed up to bring that style back, and there was no better fusion for designer gowns than with a Singapore Airlines A380 jet.

In our view, one of the world’s finest, Singapore Airlines was the first to fly the double storied A380, and treat their passengers in all classes to a new era in comfort. We were lucky enough to be given access to all areas, even the turbofan engine!

But an aeroplane as a location is no easy task… International carriers don’t hang around airports for very long. Our plane arrived that morning and was due to depart at lunchtime. In the meantime it needed to be cleaned, and we needed to shoot eight outfits – something that could normally take a whole day – and before that we had to pass security checks. We needed passports, and time.

Make-up and hair began in the wee hours so we were ready to go as soon as the plane was. Security checks and passes at the airport were made, and then we were on the plane being towed out of the way to a remote bay for cleaning and our shoot.

For what could have been a logistical nightmare, everything went like clockwork. It was fast paced, and full of energy (just the way Vandevelde likes to shoot). Out on the tarmac, with planes roaring past, taking off and landing, the adrenalin was high. We had to shout over the tremendous thunder of the engines, hair and make-up touch-ups were fast, we were dwarfed by the huge machinery, and the photos are strong, fierce, because of it.

Inside the aircraft was quieter. The light was soft, filtered and subdued. The first and business class cabins were refined, and models Yifan and Anne-Sofie made it their own, gave their own beautiful style, and the resulting photos are sublime.

Two hours of shooting is all it took, in a superhuman feat from all of the crew, nine outfits in total, and it all came together. An incredible experience for all involved, and so much fun!

IN THIS ExCLuSIVE INTERVIEW, MICHELE ABOuD SPOkE WITH kONCIERGE EDITOR IN CHIEF, CHAO xIAN YANG, OPENING uP PuBLICLY FOR THE FIRST TIME TO TALk ABOuT HER LIFE, HER JOY, AND THE RELATIONSHIP SHE HAS WITH HER WORk.

1. How old were you when you started taking photos? 你何时开始摄影的?I was a sweet age of 19 当我19岁的时候。

2. When did you know that this would be your profession? Photography found me. I had the opportunity to work in the professional field from the beginning. I always wanted to work creatively with something I loved doing, it became a perfect match. My first few rolls ever shot showed an eye for the medium. And presto! A career was born.

3. What do you like most about your profession? The creative collaboration is the best part of the job, I love working with the team; it’s such a great way to spend your day.I have no problem working free hand creatively or with a brief, we're all there with the same objective. I treat the technical aspect as part of my palette, coupled with hair and make up, styling, the talent and my wonderful assistants.

4. What do you like least? It's always a little tricky when time is short on a shoot, you have to think quickly and ‘do’ even quicker.

5. What is your relationship between art and emotion? My relationship with art is always shifting, I look at wonderfully inspiring videos, great fashion shoots, thoughtful portraits. This year I experienced this personally. One of my portraits that was entered into the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize* was selected from a field of 4,300. Only 70 are exhibited in the National Portrait Gallery, London. I mention this because the image was of a friend’s teenage daughter, Stella, captured in her mother’s bedroom, quietly sitting. Both Stella and I felt it when we got the shot. 6. In your opinion is the purpose of artistic expression to evoke an emotional experience? We are all emotional, that comes with being human. The purpose initially is to create whatever you feel at the time, people will view art in the way they choose. We all have our own stories running around in our heads.

7. In one of Oscar Wilde’s essays he said, “ life imitates art far more than art imitates life”, what is your point of view? One of my favourite scenes in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is a woman holding a glass of champagne looking at herself in front of a full-length mirror and laughing. The party is in full swing around her. A little later she's still in the same position, several glasses on but this time in a flood of tears. In answer to your question, yes [I do agree with Oscar Wilde’s statement].

8. Please tell us about your childhood? Some of my fondest memories have been associated withfood! I'm [a] quarter Lebanese on my father's side and Irish/English on my mother's.My Lebanese great aunt would have the extended family around at Easter time. It was a feast, the table was full of the most wonderful array of food, the best kibbeh I've ever had. Then my maternal grandmother would make the most unbelievable lamb baked dinners, truly I ate so well during my childhood.Another amusing aspect of my childhood was that I had several ponies but what I really wanted was a bike. I grew up in the green belt of Sydney, lots of land and my father has horses, it was a fete de complete!

9. What has been your pursuit of happiness? Over time I've learnt that life is to be very much in the moment. I know this is often spoken about but to live it is another thing. If you pay attention to the moment then you feel more supported in life. Hence, less anxiety and more Joy!

10. Oscar Wilde postulated that “what is found in life and nature is not what is really there, but is that which artists have taught people to find there, through art.” As an example, although there has been fog in London for centuries, one notices the beauty and wonder of the fog because “poets, painters and photographers have taught the loveliness of such effects...they did not exist till art invented them.” Michele what did your parents teach you to find in life? And growing up what effect has that had on others?

My parents taught me about seeing things with a different perspective. I love that this is part of how I choose to express [myself] now through photography. My mother was a milliner; her fashion eye has greatly influenced me, in particular to fabric and design. My father is enterprising in his own way, his influence was through [his] ability to get up and do it.

11. Aside from photography what other mediums of self expression and the release of that energy have you found? Directing video has become the latest medium I've started to play with. I love the acting element; that coupled with movement and sound, so much fun. I've shot a couple already, one featuring the Japanese fashion designer, Akira Isogawa. It's hauntingly beautiful. www.micheleaboud.com/video

12. If there were a soundtrack of your life what songs would be on the album? It would have been Cole Porter's "You're the Top" sung by Ella Fitzgerald. But people change, I'm not sure what it would be now. I love the way the lyrics are so playful about another.我以前会选Cole Porter的“You're the Top”, Ella Fitzgerald演唱的版本。

13. Is there a character in a movie that you identify with most? They leave an impression but I don't identify with any characters. Maybe facets of what is being portrayed.

45

Page 48: Koncierge issue 04 gold

14. What's the side of you that the public never sees? My knowledge of musicals, I love breaking into the odd Broadway tune with a friend who has similar interests. I'm ridiculous in New York, way too much to reference.

15. What challenges have you overcome and what key moments have defined you? 有哪些经典时刻?I started photography at a time in Sydney where there were no female photographers, that was already a challenge. Throughout my career I have had the pleasure to collaborate with wonderful visionary creatives. It's when I do some of my best work. Alison Bell was an inspiring art director of Interior Architecture magazine. We rocked with concepts. The magazine was one of the finest during the 90s worldwide. It not only featured architecture but also allowed the photographers to showcase innovative technique with a fashion aesthetic.

16. How has photography changed the way you now see the world? 摄影怎样改变了你现在对世界的看法?I'm like a little beacon, aware of my surroundings, always open to the possibilities. I'm not obsessive, I just keep the awareness turned on. If I see someone I would like to photograph, I take a deep breath; I'm about to ask someone to bare their soul. The next step is to introduce myself. My style of photography with portraiture is considered. I like to go into people's environments. The communication between us becomes quite personal, quite quickly. 17. When are you completely satisfied with your work? When we say: “that's a wrap!” Conditions on the day have a great influence on your work. It’s

best to accept this. I do my homework beforehand and then feel I've considered every detail.

18. What work are you most proud of? I love the Cate Blanchett portrait that was taken on the day of The Sydney Theatre Company shoot. Her expression is exquisite.

19. What's the magic formula for success, in business and in life? There is no formula; keep it simple. Eat well, go to bed earlier. There is no perfection.

20. If you could go back in time, what would you do differently? If I had foresight at the time then plenty! But then here I am!

21. What’s next for Michele Aboud, where to from here? There is a whole new chapter ahead but if I tell you I will have to kill you!! All I can say is that it's super exciting!

Why did you choose to be the face of Dior J’adore perfume?

The house of Dior always reflected a beautiful image to me. My mum always used Dior products and I like the authenticity of the

brand, there is a real heritage behind it. J’adore evokes the feeling of a strong woman who is comfortable with herself - her sensuality, her power, her own beauty, and celebrates her unique strengths. I like this J’adore woman and I would like to think that I am a woman who is comfortable and celebratory of my strengths and indulges in the qualities that make myself feel beautiful.

2. What scents were important to you growing up? I would say probably the smell of being outdoors, natural scents. I can still remember what South African nature smelled like. I grew up on a farm, so we certainly were not at a loss for smells! Smell is very powerful – for me it instantly brings back memories and the feelings and sensations that you experienced in that memory. I love that a scent can whisk you back to a certain moment, remind you of a specific person, a special location. I love light, natural scents – scents that naturally make you breathe and smile.

3. What was the first beauty product you borrowed from your mother’s makeup kit?Growing up, my mother was an incredibly busy woman, but always took care of herself and looked put together and sharp. She had a pretty extensive makeup kit and my pleasure was to look at her products… until I borrowed a red lipstick from her. I wanted to look like her, like a woman!

4. What did you want to be when you were a little girl?An actress! I grew up as a single kid and I had to play on my own so I used to imagine people around me and play roles.

5. Being a busy working actor you must spend considerable time in a makeup chair. What is the single most life saving makeup trick you have learnt from the experts?A good tip I got from my makeup artist is to use nude eye-pencil on the inside of the lower lid when you feel tired. It’s an instant lightener! But other than that, I always make sure to cleanse all makeup off at night to stop any breakouts, and I apply Dior Prestige Night, the serum and the cream, before I go to bed.

6. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. If there was a Dior colour palette that represents your soul’s journey to date what would it be?It would be the famous Dior 5 Colours Palette with contrasting colours: Pink for femininity, for the woman I am and the love I have for other women in this world. Black and brown because, as everyone does, I had to face difficulties, in my personal as much as professional life. Some grey too! Because I think nothing can be just black or white in life. And finally some gold. Gold for all the happiness I have in my life and for my son Jackson that enlightens my world. And because… The future is gold!

7. What is your must-have product in your hand bag?My fragrance! J’adore evokes memories of when I have felt the most elegant, the most beautiful – whether it be at a premiere, a photo shoot, dinner or just a day out. I always try to carry it around with me because wearing it makes me confident.

8. What are your travel tricks when flying? I travel a lot and long flights means air conditioning, jet lag, dull skintone… My skin and my lips get very sensitive. I love using Dreamskin, because it gives me an instant glow and also has anti-ageing properties, it’s my ‘all-in-one’ must have. Other than that I try to drink as much water as I can, it really helps with the jet lag!

9. As a working mother, how has your beauty routine changed in the last couple of years?Haha, yes! I have to be efficient, and I try to reduce my beauty routine as much as I can. I use a good serum, a moisturiser, a touch of foundation and mascara and I am ready to go. I don’t spend 30 minutes in front of the mirror; it’s now reduced to 5! Also, over the last couple of years, I learned that taking care of my body was an integral part of my beauty routine. I try to eat well and exercise as much as I can.

10. What is your favourite Dior skincare or makeup product?I would say two: Dior Dreamskin as it’s the moisturiser I use every day and the Dior Lip Glow for my lips.

Australian summers mean long, lazy swims in the ocean, fresh mangoes for dessert as you soak up the beach atmosphere, warm breezes, blazing sunshine and letting the salt dry on your skin as you read a good novel. Evenings are seafood barbecues and drinking cocktails by the pool.

With this in mind there are a few key beauty rituals you need to observe in order to keep your limbs bronzed and beautiful, your skin soft and ready to handle the effects of chlorine and sun exposure, and your makeup gorgeous and glow-y. In order to achieve one’s maximum Bronzed Goddess potential, certain products will come to your rescue all summer long. Here are my key picks of the season to bring out your inner beach babe:考虑到这些,几个关键的美容步骤需要留意了,以保证肤色健康美丽,皮肤柔软并做好防泳池水中的化学成分和阳光灼伤的准备,以及确保妆扮华丽焕发光彩。

Let’s be honest, it’s hard to get that summery feeling without a tan. But it doesn’t need to be real - never fear if your skin is more lily-white than super-bronzed. St Tropez Bronzing Mousse is the ultimate natural faux tan – simply apply using the St Tropez Tan Applicator Mitt, and buff in after a shower. It dries in 60 seconds and is ready to go in the water a mere four hours later. It looks completely natural (no strange orange-y tones here!) and it has a pleasant scent, which anyone who has had a bad fake tan experience in the past knows is key.

Beautiful skin is hydrated skin, and nothing will dry out your skin faster than a day in the sun. Add in some chlorine or salt water and your face can feel positively taut by the end of the day. Enter EVOHE’s 3 6 9 Omega which is a beautiful 100% natural Australian oil with Arctic Cloudberry and Sea Buckthorn that is compatible with the skin’s natural sebum.

Après sun it makes your skin feel like new again.

Lancome Flash Bronzer for Face. You can’t go to all the trouble of bronzing your body if you don’t do your face as well (and we all know that a real tan from the actual sun is only good if you want to ruin your skin and give yourself wrinkles.) Not only is the packaging beautiful – it looks like the sun in a bottle – it’s a lovely smelling gel that applies super fast to leave a gorgeous natural glow.

This is a medium-toned matte bronzer that I like to apply with a big, fluffy brush wherever the sun would hit. Even paler skin tones can use this colour (although it looks quite deep in the packaging) – simply use a bigger brush and a lighter hand.

Little Bird Organic Paw Paw Balm in Tangerine is my go-to lip balm this summer – in fact I have one stashed in every handbag, in my car, at my desk and in my beach bag. Anywhere the dreaded dry lips might strike! I love it because it’s organic, petrochemical free and is rich in soothing paw paw. It seals in moisture, softens lips and I love the super-cute grey packaging.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Striking, Mischievous and Showy and Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Tease. Nothing is chicer after a long day in the sun than adding just a simple swipe of lip colour, and these Revlon crayons come in a range of textures and finishes to suit your every mood. I love a statement lip for summer and they have everything from hot oranges to bright watermelon reds, violets and fuchsia pinks. Throw them in your bag and after the beach you’re ready to go out dancing, or wherever the night takes you.

66

Chantecaille Lip Gloss in Folly香缇卡唇蜜Chantecaille is such a beautiful range of makeup, and this gloss in the soft coral-peach colour Folly is no exception. A simple kiss of shine and a light tint is perfect for day.

Lancôme Rouge in Love lipstick in 345B兰蔻迷恋润泽口红 345BFor a shock of Barbie matte pink colour that looks amazing with a tan, I’m reaching for Lancôme’s Rouge In Love lipstick in 345B. This is a super intense pink that isn’t for the faint of heart as it has a very fine metallic finish – but given how many metallic lips walked down the Spring/Summer 2015 runways, this is the perfect warm-weather way to work this trend.

Chanel crème blush in Affinité 香奈儿腮红膏In summer a cream blush gives you the freshest finish possible, and it’s so easy as cream blushes have a transparent texture that makes it almost impossible to overdo. Chanel blush in Affinité is the ultimate candy-pink, girly flush and that pop of brightness really lifts a tan. Or the new YSL Babydoll Kiss and Blush in no 7 is another lovely option. Both can also be used on lips as well for just the barest hint of healthy colour.

Summer hair should be simple, easy and work with the beach life. I hydrate mine with Kérastase Nutritive Masquintense after a long day by the sea. Just three minutes of conditioning under the shower brings even the most sun-parched strands back to life.

However sometimes you want that amazing beach-y texture you get from the ocean, and the perfect beach hair comes from Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray. They have literally bottled that amazing texture you get from a day in the surf, without any of the damaging dryness. Simply spray in your hair (either wet or dry), scrunch through, and voila! Giselle’s hair can be yours.

A good mascara is essential as it opens and frames the eyes, and really who can be bothered doing full liner when you’re out in the heat all day? I love Shu Uemura’s mascara because it’s long-lasting, smudge-proof and waterproof, and gives a natural yet clean finish - your lashes but better.

It is simply NOT POSSIBLE to go to the beach without a pedicure. My favourite is a beautiful, bright polish, to contrast with the sand and your tan. My pick of the season is Chanel’s le Vernis in Phenix, the perfect red.

For night you want something quick and easy – poolside cocktails are calling! A quick slick of Dior’s Intense Brown eyeliner along the waterline and then a smudge of either Bobbi Brown’s new Long Wear Sparkle Gel Eyeliner or Laura Mercier’s genius Caviar Sticks in whatever colour takes your fancy, and you’re good to go. Everything you need for a long, hot summer.

Abeauty purist who broke all the rules is showing us that WELLBEING is the foundation of all beauty.

Meg Forrester is one of those rare people that are completely authentic, in everything they do – whether it is starting her day with meditation or yoga on the beach near her north Burleigh home, or running her flourishing 100% natural skincare business, EvohE. For Meg, everything begins and ends with this simple philosophy – that by running her business in an ethical way, she can contribute to creating a world of peace and harmony.

Meg started EvohE with the unconditional support of her late husband Barry at the beginning of the new Millenium. it was a natural progression of events from their initial meeting and the start of their relationship.

“when Baz and i got together there was a great momentum and shift.  we met at an organic market – literally our eyes met over a bunch of coriander! i was into raw food at the time and Baz was an international chef, so i guess you could say food brought us together. we moved from the gold coast to the hills of the northern rivers to an amazing property that had verandahs all around it and five acres with farm animals and misty mountains in the background. we just knew that something good would come of it.”

Baz’s background as a chef working all around the world (in more than 30 countries, with every type of food) meant it was a natural progression for them to turn their homestead into a thriving organic restaurant. it was a completely bespoke experience, for a selective clientele that was soon booked out a year in advance. “we made everything from scratch – the bread, the cheese, the ice-cream.  it would take us two days of prep to do one service on a saturday night for just ten people.”

“through this practice i came to understand that if the body doesn’t recognise something as food, then the immune system gets called on to ‘deal’ with it instead of the digestive system.  it became clear to me that the extra burden we place on our bodies was simply due to lifestyle choices.Applying this same philosophy to skincare made so much sense to me. if you can’t eat it then you wouldn’t want to put it on your skin, as we all know the skin absorbs everything it comes in contact with. the skin is our largest organ, so it makes sense to think about what we put on it. if it creates a toxic load on the system in any way - simply don’t use it.  Find an alternative.  not always the path of least resistance but with some stubborn commitment we feel that we have created a product that is genuinely good for us.  A clear conscience is the byproduct of living with integrity.”

Page 74: Koncierge issue 04 gold

After immersing themselves in the world of organic cuisine for some time, the seed for what would become EvohE was planted when one night a regular customer asked the pertinent question, “what would you like to do if you weren’t doing this?”  Baz responded with an explanation of my desire to create a skincare product that was natural and that actually really worked.  the customer responded with wise yet grandiose simplicity, “well what’s stopping you from building this fabulous skincare empire?” From that point on, we were committed to making EvohE a reality.

Meg immersed herself in natural ingredients, and in particular, bush flower essences. “Australian ingredients are always a priority for us.the bush flower essence blend that we have specifically blended for EvohE products is based on a clear intention that is then infused into the products - seeing the beauty in yourself and seeing the beauty in others.”

not content with just the purest natural ingredients, Meg wanted all her ingredients to also be the highest efficacy grade so that the products would be as effective as possible. she also wanted to ensure the integrity of all the supply chains of every ingredient in every product in the EvohE range to be completely cruelty-free and to make sure the sources were sustainable as well as not harming the natural environment. For instance, they committed to making sure no palm oil was used in any of the products, due to many palm oil plantations endangering the wildlife of the countries they are in.

Meg

“often when we were researching skincare ingredients that seemed natural or organic we would discover additional components that were either hidden within the ingredient or used in the manufacturing of the ingredient.  By hidden i mean the manufacturer would only declare the main raw material as the name of the ingredient and not what was used in the manufacturing of the ingredient. Even if the ingredient had a stamp of assurance we were left with doubt about what level of standards were required within the industry.the conscious living checklist that we use as the basis of everything we do at EvohE is our way to set our own standards that apply to our personal choices for a conscious lifestyle.”

she goes on to say, “At EvohE we won’t compromise on ingredients because it’s just not necessary.  in many ‘natural’ products they use incidental ingredients that can actually be quite harmful. For instance, citrus seed extract is used in many products and it’s actually contaminated with chloroform and formaldehyde. there are so many good ingredients and natural alternatives to the commonly used synthetic versions.”

Meg had a quintessential Australian childhood that involved classic Australian activities such as swinging on the clothes line, eating pomegranates and plums straight off the tree and picking flowers with her grandmother. when she was older she would spend holidays going four-wheel driving over sand dunes in south Australia, and swimming with dolphins off the coast of Fraser island.

Meg

72

Page 75: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Meg believes that true luxury now is about the richness of loving connection and quality interactions rather than of having symbols that represent luxury. when asked about her beauty philosophy, Meg says “Emanate beauty from within because you feel it. i believe that innate beauty comes through as you cannot be anyone but you. Because of this you share a responsibility to be the best version of you that you can be.  Knowing you’re worthy and beautiful is the foundation for everything to flow in your life and then you can genuinely give to others”. true beauty comes from a healthy body, mind and spirit, which is something that Meg consciously calls into existence in her own life. when Meg isn’t running her thriving business, she spends time nurturing herself. she has what she calls her ‘tool Kit’ of daily practices that she turns to in order to make every moment of life count. she loves to cook, meditate, exercise and spend time sharing and interacting with friends and family.

A spontaneous holiday to the great Barrier reef inspired a new chapter in the EvohE story, by inspiring Meg to create her makeup range, EvohE colours:“snorkeling that trip was the first of many new experiences for me.  i knew from pictures and movies that it was going to be beautiful but when i dived in that first time and saw with my own eyes the majestic richness that exists within our oceans it seriously took my breath away.  i was in complete awe and appreciation.  i felt alive and exhilarated - we all know from experience that when you feel a joy like this you just want to share it and so the EvohE colour story was actualised.”

EvohE’s next chapter is to keep growing with conscious collaboration and participation in community, as well as becoming a platform for sharing, celebrating life and sharing the celebration with others. “My humble hope is that EvohE could be an instrument for this to unfold in our world.”

Using large fringe pins and the Cloud Nine Standard Iron, start at the nape of the neck and work up the head, taking small sections of hair (about one centimetre square) and twist the section around the pin in a figure of eight pattern. Clamp the straightening iron onto the pin for about ten seconds, making sure the hair is evenly heated before you release from the iron.

Once all the hair is set, allow to cool completely. Start releasing the sections from the pins one row at a time, beginning at the bottom.

Separate out each section with fingers and lightly spray with a flexible hairspray like Kérastase Paris Laque Couture.

This look is all about luscious, big, wonderful, elegant volume.

To achieve a more wearable version at home, start by applying Kérastase Paris Lift Vertige into the roots of freshly washed hair.

Work Kérastase Paris Mousse Bouffante throughout the mid-lengths and ends then blow dry with a large round brush, lifting the root area up off the scalp for maximum root lift.

Once the hair is dry, take large sections and wrap around a large curling tong for big, open waves. (Try The Wand conical iron from Cloud Nine for a long lasting wave without the excessive heat that can damage hair).

Finish by adding back combing into the roots and push back from the face with your hands for a soft, luxurious finish.

Using Kérastase Couture Stylingwww.kerastase.com.au

Page 85: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Prepare the hair with a few layers of Kérastase Paris Volume In Powder throughout the lengths to maximise volume and to give an airy, light texture.

Section the hair into the pattern that you’d like to create with the braids.

Do the side sections first, keeping them tight and close to the head for a more beautiful streamlined silhouette.

Then move on to the two centre sections down the head.

Start each braid at the top, gently pulling the first sections out into a quiff as you go.

Loosen the loops of the braid as you work down the head and tie off the ends with tiny latex bands.

Finally, bring the two big loose braids together and link together with fringe pins to create a high, textured, mohawk shape.

Soft Braids软辫

To create your own beautiful, soft braid you’ll need hair that is to your shoulders, or longer.

Blow dry Kérastase Paris Mousse Bouffante through the hair with your fingers for extra volume. Once the hair is dry spray Kérastase Paris Volume In Powder through the hair, from roots to ends.

Pull all the hair over to one side and start braiding the hair together into one large plait. As you plait the hair, loosen up the hair by gently pulling the loops of the plait out a little.

Finally, wrap the plait across the front hairline and secure underneath with bobby pins and gently pull the plait into a loose whimsical shape that frames the face.

This story was about line, form and simplicity of tone. I wanted to showcase the model’s classic beauty with polished skin and elegant contouring and frame her with the strength of black lines and curves. I wanted it to feel quite Film Noir in its intensity. Working with photographer Tane Coffin is always a creative joy. He showcases my work so beautifully that it takes on an almost magical vibration.

How did you become a makeup artist?

I began as a hairdresser and, out of curiosity, watched the makeup artists on photo shoots closely. I tried their techniques and product recommendations on myself then unleashed my practice on friends who became my muses. I spent countless hours doing their makeup and hair and photographing them. I am self-taught but feel like I had about ten teachers in the form of the makeup artists I learnt from. I loved starting in makeup like that as no one told me that there was only one way to do something, which gave me a creative freedom that is priceless.

What are your favourite makeup products?

I love a bit of everything, from professional ranges to products from department store counters. The products I can’t do without are Smoke and Mirrors Beauty false eyelashes (makeup artist Stephen Moleski has made the best wispy lashes ever), Rae Morris makeup brushes (especially the amazing Radiance brush), Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, MAC To the Beach Bronze Body Oil, Make Up Forever's Sculpting Kit for face contour and Shu Uemura’s false eyelash applicators.

MAC To the Beach Bronze 褐色护肤油, Make Up Forever的脸部轮廓雕塑套件,还有Shu Uemura的假睫毛器。

And your must-haves for an intriguing, smoky eye?

A range of eye shadow tones in warm and cool browns, greys and black. For me, it’s all about the shifting tones that blend to create a play of light and shade on the eye. I often highlight with a skin-toned illuminator or intense gold. I love black eyeliner and mascara that is intensely black and doesn't just look dark grey.

Do you have any tips for creating a perfect cat’s eye?

Look straight ahead in the mirror and mark out where your liner will go. A lot of people make the mistake of drawing the line to the very end of the lid and then flicking up, but this can leave you with a sad, droopy looking eye because a large percentage of eye shapes slope down at the outer

89

Page 92: Koncierge issue 04 gold

edge. When the eye is looking straight ahead a true cat's eye appears almost horizontal across the lid and has a gentle upsweep that extends in a fine point that creates the illusion of an eye-lift at the outer edge.

What skincare products can’t you live without?

In my kit, Embryolisse moisturiser and Bioderma Sensibio Créaline H20 cleanser. At home, any of the divine masks from Sodashi, and Cetaphil Cleanser that I mix with bicarbonate of soda to make a gentle polishing exfoliant.

What’s up next for you?

There’s a Joseph Campbell quote I love, “If you can see your path laid out in front of you step by step, you know it’s not your path. Your own path you make with every step you take. That’s why it’s your path”. Everything in my career and life that has been hugely successful has come from allowing the next step to unfold then making the most of the opportunity in front of me. If I look too far ahead I feel like there’s far too much to do so one step at a time works beautifully.

The Rising global geneRaTion of ChinaThe world has been fascinated about the intersection of Western and Eastern society and culture for hundreds of years. But the starting point has always been a point of view that the East and the West are separate, and the connections fraught and only occasionally of value.

Today that paradigm is starting to shift dramatically, with a new globalized generation that draw from experiences and traditions at will, not stopping to separate or identify just with one culture from one geographic location.

They draw on the best of many worlds and are beginning to emerge as well balanced individuals; connected to family, connected to a range of places, self expressed and affluent in their being as well as in the material world.

This is the story of Lilly and Lucas. They were born and raised in China and now live in Melbourne Australia. We get to know the couple at their wedding on the beautiful island of Bali and start to gain insights into their new global generation.

Through the brilliant morning light our eyes are drawn across the crystal clear pool and beyond towards a calm Indian Ocean shimmering softly on the horizon. The cool interior of the glass wedding chapel is a welcome escape from the already intense heat of the Balinese sun. I become pleasantly aware of the delicate scent of thousands of pastel coloured roses being released into the air as the sun doubles its efforts to enter our enclosed space. Hushed conversation ensues between the intimate group of close friends and family as wedding guests

eagerly await the arrival of a young bride. Her tall, striking young groom, flanked by his groomsmen casts several backward glances and laughs in a relaxed manner over a shared joke as he prepares to embrace the most important moment of his 23 years. Lucas is more than ready for this; he has curated this entire event right down to the very last detail.

The scene has a fairy tale quality; a beautiful setting, a beautiful couple, some might believe it is all too good to be true. But it is true. And it demonstrates the dawning of this new generation that holds a great optimism for the future and the ability to live a life of wellbeing and abundance.

This is a story of the elegance and the serenity that is growing in a new generation from China and the emerging economies of Asia. Lilly and Lucas are a wonderful example of a generation that has the opportunity to take the very best of the East and of the West and blend it for a balanced and quality lifestyle.

Although only yesterday, it seems like days since the couple greeted us poolside in their characteristically warm and relaxed manner. After our long flight from Australia, they politely overlooked our flustered appearance as we struggled to adjust from mid winter to the sudden heat and humidity of

183

Page 186: Koncierge issue 04 gold

the island. For two people a little over twenty-four hours out from one of the biggest events of their life, they are almost disturbingly relaxed. It is only the second time I have met the couple but each time I have noted an air of self-assurance and maturity way beyond their years, hinting at a certain degree of worldliness not often seen in ones so young.

We make our way to the villa where a soft breeze plays with the curtains providing a welcome relief from the heat as we are shown inside. Lilly’s enthusiasm for sharing her wedding week with us is immediately evident in the playful manner in which we are ushered to her dressing room to help select outfits for the planned photo shoots. Lucas leans casually against the doorframe; his face expressing quiet amusement as he watches the activity, occasionally interjecting with questions about the whereabouts of a Valentino gown or a particular pair of Louboutins, clearly demonstrating a well honed knowledge of fashion.

Lilly and Lucas spent their formative years growing up in China, she in an industrial city on the outskirts of Shanghai in

the east and he in the bustling city of Chengdu in the central Szechuan Province. Childhood was comfortable for both of them and a now typical one for many urban-dwelling Chinese youth of today.

Lucas’s home town Chengdu has a long and rich cultural history and is known as the ‘land of abundance.’ It was the birthplace of the first paper currency in the world, the Jiao Zi, introduced in 1023 during the Song Dynasty. Today Chengdu’s abundance is reflected in its rapid growth and identification as a city of world significance. From 2005 to 2010, average incomes in urban areas rose by 84%. More than 70% of Apple iPads are manufactured in Chengdu and sold around the globe. According to Forbes, Chengdu ranks third after Beijing and Shanghai for expenditure on luxury goods. The city is also known as the ‘leisure capital’ of China depicted by its laidback attitude and outdoor lifestyle that has created a great platform for shopping.

Like many young Chinese teenagers, growing up Lucas aspired to a life with the freedoms his parents never had. In an

184

Page 187: Koncierge issue 04 gold

185

eagerness to expand his horizons he was exposed early on to western culture and ideas, fostering an open curiosity about what lay beyond the borders of his own protected family life. Weekends were spent exchanging the congestion of urban life for a more traditional cultural experience, exploring and dining out on the local cuisine with his family at one of Chengdu’s many ancient neighbouring towns.

Lilly’s hometown, Kunshan is also a showcase for the new emerging China. It too has a rich cultural history and is home to Zhouzhuang, known as the ‘Venice of China.’ Kunshan has one of the most successful economies in China, underpinned by its advanced electronics manufacturing. More than half of the world's laptop computers are said to be made in the city, which has a population of about 1.3 million and is about the size of Berlin or New York.

Lilly and Lucas shine as an example of China’s new generation that know and understand luxury brands, with a growing knowledge and a keenness to learn more about their back story. The understanding goes beyond the status

a brand may offer, to a place where an appreciation of the quality, the craft, the history is viewed as being as valuable as the item itself.

Two-thirds of Chinese affluent consumers are keen to know the history and cultural background of foreign brands. This generation loves to buy Piaget watches in Geneva and Zegna suits in Milan, but reject unconventional offerings such as German watches or Japanese leather bags.

Research by McKinsey’s shows that people buying luxury brands in China value the functional benefits of any particular purchase (the quality, material, design, or craftsmanship, for instance) more than wealthy consumers elsewhere do. The emotional benefits of a purchase—what it says about its owner’s taste, for example—counts. Other brands acknowledge the Chinese consumer’s appreciation of functional benefits by emphasizing product quality. When the Italian fashion brand Ermenegildo Zegna, for example, opens stores in China, it conducts demonstrations of how its ties are made in order to emphasize the craftsmanship.

Page 188: Koncierge issue 04 gold

186

McKinsey has also found that the more affluent sector of society in China is far younger than other countries in the developed world. Around 80 percent are under 45 years of age, compared with 30 percent in the United States and 19 percent in Japan. This creates an interesting new dynamic that is leading a new definition and expression of wealth, and it is not solely about material success and the expression of it.

The statistics tell a great economic success story, but it is interesting to see how Lilly and Lucas’s generation now develop a lifestyle and a new developing culture from that success.

The artists in every culture around the world give us great insight into the future. They often have the courage to break with conventions and to express new and emerging ideas and ways of being. Today’s young artists of China draw on many sources to express themselves.

Barbara Pollack in ARTnews says China’s younger artists are introspective, sophisticated, and hyper-aware of their identity in a globalized world. She reports Leng Lin, President of Pace Beijing as saying: ‘For this younger generation, Chinese identity is not the most important thing, because the artists exist in a globalized world. Before them a generation emerged in a society that thought it belonged to a special culture, not part of the world.”

Lilly and Lucas were both 16 years old when their respective parents took the bold step to leave China and move to Melbourne, a city voted the world’s most livable for the fourth time this year, a fact that Lucas is keen to point out as we chat. They met and became friends while attending English language classes. After three wonderfully free months of becoming acquainted with their new environment, Lilly and Lucas both went their separate ways to attend different high schools, not reuniting again until a planned summer holiday with mutual friends brought them together once more. During this time away they uncovered shared values and dreams, forming the basis for a strong friendship that gradually blossomed over time culminating in Lucas mustering the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend on the eve of his 18th birthday the following year. Lilly of course said yes.

On meeting Lilly it is very evident that family plays a pivotal role in her life. Her face softens as she talks about her extended family and the connectedness she feels regardless of any geographical challenges. Tinkling laughter spills out easily, giving one the curious urge to look for ways to evoke that joyful expression again, just to watch her beautiful smile and almond

eyes and share in her joy of the present. It’s easy to believe her when she tells me with solemn conviction that her primary aspiration in life is to be the best daughter, wife, mother and person she can possibly be. There is, she confides, one other thing on her to-do list that she is realizing. Lilly is working on the launch of her first women’s ready to wear collection under her namesake fashion label in 2015, which is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Lilly’s experience of both the East and the West is giving her design aesthetics a unique flavour of appeal not only to affluent Chinese consumers but beyond.

Lucas has developed a passion for bespoke tailoring and at the time of the wedding, the couple has just returned from attending Pitti Uomo, an über stylish four-day menswear tradeshow in Florence, Italy. Surprisingly they show no signs of weariness or jetlag which I can only attribute to youth and the fact that they are now seasoned travellers, well used to attending fashion events all over the world and regularly toggling back and forth between Australia and China. In fact, as we follow them throughout the entire five days in Bali, we watch them effortlessly balance wedding commitments with the extra demands of several meetings and uncomfortably warm photo-shoots. Although clearly weary on the last day, we were driven to beautiful Ubud to capture our final images on the spectacular rice terraces. The journey took hours longer than expected and the situation would have tested the more feint hearted but Lilly and Lucas flowed through the day (and the more tense moments as we feared we might not make it back in time to catch our return flight to Australia) with apparent ease, retaining their composure with customary grace and sense of humour firmly intact.

For Lilly and Lucas, the old English saying from Shakespeare, ‘the world is your oyster’ rings true. The saying offered to a young man in the play The Merry Wives of Windsor is a metaphor for life suggesting it can hold a fortune for the seeker depending on how hard one works on looking for it. There are limitless possibilities in life as there are in finding an oyster holding a pearl; sometimes you have to open many to find one, and sometimes luck will play its part.

As with the cycles of nature, so too do the people of the world have a cycle. Perhaps this new generation are returning to a wisdom of their ancestors, whether they choose that to be Shakespeare or philosophers of the east such as Lao Tzu” who said:

“Meet failure or success with grace, honour and kindness.  Accept misfortune or fortune with grace, honour and kindness…  Accept all that comes your way”

Silky Oaks Lodge

Driving north from Cairns along the winding Captain Cook Highway where every corner frames another even more beautiful ocean vista and the incredible turquoise waters of the Coral Sea caress soft, white sand, the 77km journey to our destination takes a little longer than anticipated due to unplanned photo opportunities. This day I am heading inland away from the ocean to the serene surroundings of Silky Oaks Lodge, a luxury five star eco resort nestled beside the Mossman River Gorge in the Daintree Rainforest about 20 minutes north of Port Douglas in Tropical North Queensland.

After a some time, the coast road relaxes out of its semi-chaotic meanderings into a landscape of endless sugar cane fields and criss crossing railway lines bearing heavily laden ‘cane trains’ to their destination. Having never visited before, this is the Australia I know only through the legend of song and prose, the memory of which momentarily transports me back to stories of centuries past evoking the smell of burning cane fields and a vision so

vivid that I can almost see the red sun piercing through hot hazy skies as the cane cutters labor in the tropical heat.

I am eventually coaxed out of my reverie by a very different, lusher landscape signaling that my destination is near. The transition from the wide-open, flat countryside to hilly, lush rainforest is relatively quick as I wend my way upward past fields bordered by rows of palm trees and the odd, slightly ramshackle farmhouse. Devoid of even the slightest hint of over development, suddenly the entrance beckons at the end of the road, subtle and confidently understated.

190

Page 193: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Bordering the Mossman River Gorge, just out of the small northern town of Mossman, Silky Oaks Lodge is watched over by the ancient Daintree Rainforest and spirits of the ancestors of the indigenous Kuku Yalanji rainforest people. The Lodge appears completely at one with the environment; so much so that it is impossible to imagine that just 25 years ago the land it resides on was purchased as cleared farmland which has since undergone a complete transformation, having been regenerated and replanted back to a youthful version of its original rainforest habitat.

The Daintree Rainforest was World Heritage listed in 1988 and at 135 million years old, is the oldest in the world, some 10 million years older than the Amazon Basin in South America. It is home to a large percentage of Australia’s frogs, butterflies, bats

and birds, including 13 bird species that are found nowhere else in the world. The aboriginal Kuku Yalanji tribe has occupied the Daintree region for the past 9000 years and now plays an integral part in preserving the rainforest for future generations.

A quarter of a century on from it’s visionary beginnings, Silky Oaks now holds a world recognized Advanced Ecotourism accreditation due to it’s commitment to sustainability through a suite of nature conservation and protection measures it is currently implementing, including a climate change action plan that demonstrates a genuine commitment to the long- term protection of the local area. Tying in with all this is a palpable sense of place and respectful acknowledgement of the rich indigenous culture and history of the land it occupies.

207

Page 194: Koncierge issue 04 gold

On arrival at Silky Oaks Lodge, a glimpse of the beautiful, naturally landscaped spring fed pool through the trees beside a timber boardwalk gives a hint of things to come and as I walk up the steps to the reception area in the main lodge I am greeted by a sense of oneness with the surrounding landscape. There are no windows or doors, no modern glass barrier to create a formal divide between the environment and us, just a natural flow. The reception staff are relaxed and professional and as we have arrived a little early for check-in, a quick phone call is all it takes before we are whisked away to the Healing Waters Spa to expunge all traces of travel weariness and tension in preparation for some afternoon relaxation.

The in-house, multi award-winning Healing Waters Spa is set in lush rainforest gardens and has been inspired by ancient wisdoms that celebrated the crystal clear spring water of the Mossman River as a renewing and life-giving force. The Healing Waters Spa menu is extensive and offers a variety of treatments using a premium; all natural, chemical-free face and body care range by luxurious Australian skincare company, Sodashi. In need of relaxation and a little tension relief I opted for the sixty minute Sodashi Signature Body Massage that really was quite exceptional. At the conclusion of the massage I was offered refreshments and ushered out onto a small private deck overlooking natural gardens where the only sounds were of the gentle flow of the nearby Mossman River and abundant native bird life. There I quietly melted into my surroundings, enveloped by the sensation of absolute bliss!

Accommodation at Silky Oaks Lodge is a blend of casual and contemporary lodge style dwellings, each of which are elegantly furnished giving off a cool, tropical ambience. The 36 suites range from the newly built Billabong Suites to relaxing River and Treehouse accommodation. Each suite has it’s own unique view of either rainforest gardens or the Mossman River. Silky Oaks Lodge Managing Director, Paul Van Min tells us that he has recently reduced the number of suites in order to create an even more intimate and luxurious experience for his guests. Paul says, “We will never stop striving to improve the Silky Oaks experience. We have put in an enormous amount of hard work, but the moment you begin to think you have done enough, well then it is time to move on.”

192

Page 195: Koncierge issue 04 gold

With the deliberate absence of Wi-Fi in the suites aimed at encouraging guests to unplug devices and reconnect with nature and each other, it didn’t take long to switch off the phone and push the laptop into a drawer and out of sight. After a few hours of daydreaming in the hammock I was a little reluctant to emerge ever again from my airy little River House, wondering if in fact anyone would notice if I took up permanent residence. My most basic need for sustenance won out and I was eventually coaxed out for dinner. Although we were informed on arrival that Silky Oaks was close to capacity, we had barely seen, let alone heard a soul since leaving the Main Lodge several hours before, such was the overwhelming sense of peace and tranquillity of the place. The short stroll to the Main Lodge failed again to flush out any fellow guests.

During this visit, I stayed in one of the Riverhouses, perched amongst the trees overlooking the Mossman River. Gentle, soothing music emanating from the Bose player merged with the sound of running water and bird song as I entered my room, further reinforcing my recently acquired sense of calm and wellbeing. Highly polished timber floors, ceiling fans, louvers on all windows and a king sized bed dressed in crisp white linen mixed with rich red and chocolate coloured soft furnishings all added to the ambient tranquillity of the space. If I wasn’t already completely sold at that point, the generous spa bath with a view of the treetops and stars, or the red tassel trimmed hammock strung across the front veranda surely would have done it. As it turned out, these details were merely the double frosted icing on what was already turning into a richly indulgent experience.

The open-sided Treehouse restaurant located in the Main Lodge offers a relaxed, intimate dining experience with each table positioned with a view of the rainforest and the Mossman River Gorge below. From our candlelit table we delighted in the gentle tropical breeze as the warble of native birds echoed through the darkness as they settled in for the night.

The Treehouse chefs source the freshest local produce available for the restaurant’s 3-course menu, and determined to step out of my comfort zone and take advantage of the fine Australian produce on offer I opted for a Kangaroo dish that again exceeded my expectations. The service our table received was relaxed and personal and at all times professional. Our meals were cooked to perfection and finely presented which when accompanied by a beautiful Tasmanian wine and good company, made for a very pleasurable dining experience.

Although I had planned to explore the surrounding region, after a long, leisurely Treehouse buffet breakfast the next day I decided that I had no real desire to leave my forest paradise. Over a final cup of coffee I looked out through the gardens to the undercover Daintree Pavillion where a small group of guests were being guided through a gentle yoga session and pondered my next move. There are a number of incredible onsite and offsite activities available for the more motivated guest but you may just find as I did that despite your best intentions, once you allow yourself to switch off and embrace the vibrational energy of one of the most ancient and beautiful places on earth…you probably won’t want to leave.

On my last day I opted to listen to my heart, happily leaving my phone behind in the little tree house I walked down to the river where I bathed in the pure, clear waters of the billabong then sat on a large river stone worn flat by millions of years of water coursing over it and read a book, something I haven’t done in years.

Having fond memories of growing up in a rural setting before settling on city life as an adult, it is always a delight to be presented with an opportunity to peel away the urban layers and re-connect with my deeply rooted country soul. When the invitation to visit Spicers Hidden Vale landed in my inbox I was already right there, riding on horseback across rolling hills, relaxing at sunset on a wide homestead verandah and eating good wholesome country fare accompanied by rustic, full bodied wines.

Located just over an hour’s drive from the Queensland capital of Brisbane, Spicers Hidden Vale is situated on 12,000 acres of bush and sprawling farmland in the fertile Lockyer Valley, an area recognised as one of the top ten farming regions in the world due to its rich, dark alluvial soil and superior water quality. The tag, ‘Australia’s Salad Bowl’ is aptly applied to the region as it grows and supplies towns and cities across the country with a diverse range of fruit and vegetables.

The drive to reach Spicers Hidden Vale, Grandchester, was in itself a scenic delight and an enjoyable part of the whole experience so by the time I arrived, windows down, on a heady high from the fresh country air I was ready to get in touch with the natural surroundings and embrace my relaxed luxury experience. Post and rail fencing and quaint farm buildings flanked the driveway leading up to the main lodge and a tiny village-like arrangement of beautifully restored, colonial style weatherboard cottages looked out over the stunning valley vista just beyond adding to the rustic feel of the location.

Page 201: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Eager to learn the story behind the newly launched Homage restaurant, I welcomed the opportunity for a guided tour by Head Chef Ash Martin and Spicers Hidden Vale General Manager Andrea Martin. In his former post as Head Chef at The Peak restaurant, also in the Spicers Retreats group, Ash and his team were awarded a prestigious Chef Hat at both the Australian Good Food Guide Awards 2013 and at the Queensland Good Food Guide Awards 2013 prior to taking on this new challenge at Spicers Hidden Vale.

Ash completed his apprenticeship at one of Melbourne’s most highly regarded restaurants before moving on to further develop his culinary skills as a fine dining chef at other premier eating places in the food capital of Australia. The move to Queensland was prompted by a desire to spend more time with his wife, Solicitor Andrea Martin whom he met and married in Melbourne a few years ago. The opportunity at Spicers Peak Lodge presented itself and they haven’t looked back since.

Seeking a new challenge after his successful earlier post at The Peak restaurant, Ash and Andrea took over the former

207

Page 202: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Cottons restaurant at Spicers Hidden Vale in 2013 and began conceptualising plans for a whole new dining experience. And so Homage was born. Homage is the brainchild of the Martins and the result of 12 months intense planning and preparation. The rich offerings from the surrounding land and a strong desire to support local farmers led Ashley to create an experience that is anchored in it’s geographical roots and as the name suggests, pays respect to the land, to the local farmers and to the produce itself.

Farm to table eating isn’t new, in fact in the early 20th century, prior to convenient refrigeration and the commencement of the march towards urban centralisation, this was how we all prepared and consumed food, mostly out of necessity. Households either grew their own food or bought it directly from local growers who they knew by name. The emergence of the current farm to table movement is a way of thinking that brings us back in a full circle. We are beginning to acknowledge the value of quality over convenience and becoming more aware of where our food comes from in the process. By default, with the growing expectation of quality and minimal interference in a time of burgeoning health issues in the Western world, the nutritional value of food is also vastly improved.

After settling in on arrival we were treated by the Homage team to a tour of the newly created Homage kitchen gardens consisting of 89 beautifully terraced raised garden beds nestling into the sloping paddock beside the restaurant. Right beside the kitchen gardens stands a young fruit orchard and two beehives holding thirty five thousand bees that produce over 80kg of honey a year and perform a vital role in pollinating the restaurant gardens. Just metres away as Ash talked passionately about the growing need for sustainability and a re-connection with the land, a kangaroo grazed leisurely on the long grass, clearly undisturbed by our presence as if reinforcing the message.

200

Page 203: Koncierge issue 04 gold

The whole area, which is tended daily by the team of Homage chefs currently supplies the restaurant with organically grown seasonal vegetables, fruit and honey all year round. In time as the garden matures, produce will be sold to the surrounding community through local market gardens. The Spicers staff also raises a menagerie of animals in the nursery, a rustic log cabin style shelter that is home to pigs, geese, chickens and a temperamental goat. All of this ensures that Ash has a high degree of control over the quality of raw ingredients used in his dishes and in the case of the animals, close care over their quality of life. Anything else the restaurant requires that can’t be grown on the property is sourced fresh from local farmers.

Ultimately the natural rhythm of nature influences the entire Homage dining experience, with Ash and his team developing dishes that are purely based around the seasonal availability of produce. Sustainable ingredients combine with structured techniques and the sophisticated flavours of fine French cuisine to make this a truly authentic and memorable dining experience.

To further my appreciation of everything I had learned from Ash and his team, I joined friends at Homage that evening for a magnificent 5-course degustation menu to sample the best the region has to offer. Charismatic and talented Australian sommelier Peter Marchant was responsible for our wine selection and the accompanying blend of French, Italian and Australian wines were served in fine Riedel glassware and carefully chosen not by locality but by how well they complemented each dish, enhancing the overall dining experience.

After sinking into the large Chesterfield sofas in the drawing room for one last sneaky Espresso Martini, we headed off along the old cobbled paths past flowering garden beds to our cottage for one last cup of tea before bed. Our two-bedroom

country style cottage was immaculately presented with no detail overlooked, right down to the boutique Australian tea selection and Byron Bay Cookie Co. cookies (yes, I did manage to fit one in, even after all that amazing food and wine).

The next morning I awoke to the joyful warbling of magpies and flung open my French style bedroom doors venturing onto the veranda to be greeted by the view of wallabies nibbling on the dewy grass as the sun rose across the Lockyer valley below. There really is something special and unbelievably honest about country life and Spicers Hidden Vale.

Maserati turns 100 this year and Koncierge finds no allowances need be made for the blisteringly quick Centenarian.

It's the brand that made countless men fall in love with cars back when they were little boys, has been the choice of the glamorous for generations and is proven to have a more than a little sex appeal.

In 2008, British insurance company Hiscox funded research to find which car sounds are the most appealing. The scientists found one sang above all others in terms of the greatest hormonal spikes in the blood samples of the test subjects that it solicited; the sound of a Maserati engine. Whether it’s the anxious thrubb of hundreds of octane horses while idling or its trademark roar on the road, Maserati have a sound like no other. You don’t just hear the sound of a Maserati, you feel it. It’s viscerally brilliant.

Ever since the beautiful Eva Peron was whizzing around in Maserati’s first road car, the A6, it has been motoring’s appointee of northern Italian cool and on December 1, 2014, the champagne corks flew across the world to mark 100 years ago to the day that the brand was born. Despite both good times and not so good, the company has endured with its indelible association with the exclusivity.

You will never meet as many Maserati-owners as Porsches, Lamborghinis, Ferraris or nearly any other luxury car brand for that matter for the simple reason so few Trident-badged cars have been made. Now in a period of record growth, in large part to the rebirth of its Ghibli, means that the jet-setting brand has entered new domains, now directly competing with the BMW 5-series, Mercedes E class and the Audi A6/A7. Any worries of diluting the Maserati exclusivity are unfounded with a guaranteed 70,000/year cap on production, less than half of Porsche’s.

214

Page 217: Koncierge issue 04 gold

This is the third generation of Ghibli, which like most Maserati is named after a wind of antiquity – Ghibli is Libyan for the north African desert gales that can whip the Mediterranean – and when the first generation Ghibli began appeared in 1967 it quickly became synonymous with power throughout the 1970s. Its bodywork was low and jaw-droppingly sleek, and behind those gorgeous pop-up headlights was a 4.7L V8, 330 horsepower engine fitted straight from a Maserati race car. The SS version with a 4.9l and 335hp turned the Ghibli into 170 mph car right at the start of the 1970s. Its convertible Spyder versions were seemingly made for paparazzi shots and although production only ran until 1973, Ghibli became shorthand for driving with Italian speed and panache.

The second generation Ghibli came at a time when Maserati was working with De Tomaso. A direct evolution from the Maserati Biturbos of the 1980s, its desirability came in its deceptively quick turn of speed. It’s 335 horsepower, V6 engine was the world’s leading legal street power output/litre car surpassing even the famed Jaguar XJ220 and Bugatti ED110.

Following Fiat’s acquisition of Maserati in 1993, the Ghibli ll ended its run in 1997, the year that Fiat moved Maserati under the management of Fiat-owned Ferrari so that Maserati could benefit from Ferrari’s technology, thus heralding the renaissance for the Trident badge. Last year, significant expansion began with the sixth generation Quattroporte and the Ghibli III, which was launched at the Shanghai motor show.

215

Page 218: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Ferrari may have given a significant hand to Maserati between 1997 and 2005, but the new Ghibli and Quattroporte are not just all new, they are also more all-Maserati, with the new family of twin turbo engines designed and developed by Maserati. Not that the prancing horse has completely left the Maserati stable; Ferrari build the new engines for Maserati. So, at an opening price of $140,000, its fair to say that nothing else at that price will get you behind a Ferrari made engine and with that sort of parentage, it’s an understatement to say it’s deceptively quick, especially for a such a luxurious sedan. Even more so when the ‘Sport’ button is pressed, with a clear change in the engine’s heartbeat accompanying that of the driver’s heart as the Ghibli reveals the depth of its performance abilities.

It’s a particularly tempting alternative to, Mercedes, BMW and Audi’s domination of this segment of the market and that is only the start of Maserati’s hopes. In late 2015, the Italians will reveal their first SUV, the Levante, which will challenge buyers of the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Sport when it arrives in Australia in 2016. The Quattroporte and Ghibli have transformed Maserati, which for the first time in anyone’s memory is enjoying rude financial health to match the passion and motoring brilliance that has always been at the heart of the company.

For a company that has survived and thrived for much of its hundred years on sometimes little more than drive and ambition, it looks like the party has only just begun.

It took almost 40 years for Maserati to produce its first road car. Before that, it rose to the top of motor racing not just in Europe and the USA but also in Australia, where Sir Stirling Moss drove a Maserati to victory in the 1956 Melbourne Grand Prix.

On-screen bad guys who love Maseratis: Johnny Sacrimoni and Christopher Moltisanti from The Sopranos drove a 4200 Coupé, the villains in James Bond’s Licence To Kill's drove a 425 Biturbo and they featured prominently in The Godfather III. On the other side of the law in the TV series ‘Life’ an all-black Quattroporte tricked out with police lights and siren provided transport for policeman Charlie Crews.

Page 221: Koncierge issue 04 gold

Page 223: Koncierge issue 04 gold

from the day it opened it’s first shopfront doors in sydney’s strand Arcade in 1989, iconic Australian design label dinosaur designs has drawn a devoted following to it’s highly original designs, like bees to honey. evoking the many moods of a distinctive Australian landscape, husband and wife team louise olsen and stephen ormandy are famous for creating highly coveted, beautiful objects of desire. Their striking jewellery ranges and their almost instantly recognizable, handcrafted homewares deliver sensuous curves and sculpted shapes in gorgeous colours and colour combinations which cater to almost every taste imaginable. Two collections every year add new layers to the unfolding dinosaur designs story.

“organic” is a word that both louise and stephen use frequently when they talk about the growth of their design label and their artistic influences. “it’s a philosophy of colour, form and texture. we hope to enrich people’s lives through our design, creating something that people will cherish and love” says louise, whose personal style is elegant, artistic and minimal - a sensibility that’s clearly mirrored in her work. “stephen and i are artists first, we were both brought up in creative households so we’ve always relied on our intuition to lead us to some extent, in most of the things we do.”

“working in design is a great way to study the world” she says. her design ethos, she feels is best summed up as “a never-ending exploration” of her surroundings. “we are always looking

to source new materials which means having to experiment and innovate but always with a thought as to how we minimize any impact we have on the environment.” As much as nature is a constant source of inspiration for the pair, they’ve also actively worked to reduce their company’s environmental footprint with sustainable practices, minimising their energy and water usage and recycling what they can.

while they started with 2 stores in sydney, which has always been their hometown base, the opening of each of their exclusive boutiques since then – in Melbourne, new york, Brisbane and most recently the launch of their new london store, has seen their brand’s growth reach an even wider audience of design lovers. Almost 12 years after opening their nyc boutique, their dream to someday have a space in london has come to fruition. “it was just never the right time until just recently,” says louise “when we were approached by craig Markham of firmdale hotels about opening a store in london’s soho district. we jumped at the chance and everything just fell into place.” with london’s re-emergence as a leading international design hub and an already well-established dinosaur designs customer base in the united Kingdom “it’s given us an opportunity to share a real sense of who we are and our aesthetic” says louise. “we always feel that stepping into one of our stores is almost like stepping into one of our pieces.” Being ideally located amongst the diversity of restaurants, stores and bars in the popular area that’s always been a drawcard for tourists, their beautifully presented store designed by renowned Australian interior designer ian halliday, of Burton Katon halliday, is another exciting step forward onto a wider global stage.

could new converts to the dinosaur designs label and new stores eventually materialise in paris, Milan or any other international city that has a strong artistic, cultural or fashion focus? “we’d love that” says louise, when asked if this is something they’ve been considering, answering “everything comes at the right time.” what’s unlikely to change with any further expansion however is their hands on approach which values quality over quantity and always has. it’s at the hub of their operations, inside their light filled warehouse headquarters in sydney’s strawberry hills, that each dinosaur designs piece is produced, polished and perfected for any one of their store shelves, a stockist or delivery to their online customers. The building’s interior is open and expansive, white walled with very high ceilings it looks and feels more like a contemporary gallery space than a factory premises and their staff are also suitably creative – students, makers or other aspiring jewellers themselves.

“we set the design agenda and we conceptualise and oversee the whole process” says stephen “we just can’t do it all anymore because it’s just too much work.” he says he’s still

229

fond of early dinosaur pieces and the creative experiments that were their initial foray into a commercial arena, when they were studying art at college, which is where louise and stephen met and became instant friends. A market stall at paddington markets in sydney, was setup with a fellow friend and student, lianne rossler (one of the original dinosaur founders) and became a testing ground for their fashion based ideas as well as a way for them to buy art materials. “we didn’t really set out to be a large enterprise either” says louise “we’ve always just been very interested in trying to do the things that we’re both really passionate about.” while their early designs included a range of hand painted T-shirts “it was the accessories that were really selling for us, so we decided to focus on the jewellery instead” says stephen.

resin has become something of a signature trademark for the pair ever since it was suggested by one of their friends, artist geoffrey rose back in those early years, “it’s the original reuse material” says stephen. having worked with it for such a long time they are keenly aware of it’s many strengths. “That’s what people don’t realise about resin, if we didn’t use it, it would just end up in landfill” explains louise who says that its lasting appeal for her, has always been “the colours and the versatility of it, and its liquid nature.” Most recently metals have increasingly appeared in their newer ranges showing up in their jewellery collections as well as in their latest launch Atelier which features brass and copper vases “which is a first for us” says louise.

while everything they’ve achieved to date from prestigious design accolades and inclusion in significant design shows has brought much admiration along the way, there have also been successful collaborations with luxury design brands such as louis vuitton and uK fashion designer paul smith. other collaborative projects have included working closely with like minded creatives, many of whom are friends. Although more than anything else, it’s stephen and louise’s harmonious partnership at the centre of it all, that’s really made their unique label truly thrive. it’s definitely a marriage of style and substance for this busy couple, whose warmth and shared enthusiasm, as much as their obvious talents, has been responsible for much of their on-going success.

“we’re positive people” says stephen, whose personal art is just as important to him as his commercial work. he’s exhibited in numerous shows and his highly collectible paintings explore

solid colour compositions and abstracted organic shapes, as do his smaller scale sculptures. “i can’t ever imagine us not doing any of this. dinosaur designs and this building is our 2nd home, i can see myself sitting here when i’m in my 70s still making something…” he says. whether it’s their recent forays into a furniture line in 2013 with their pop inspired resin sidetables or a jewellery collaboration with acclaimed Australian fashion designer Toni Maticevski for his 2014/15 spring/summer fashion show, it’s unlikely that their design output will be slowing down anytime soon.

“stephen and i feel like the last 5 years has been a wonderful time for dinosaur and that energy that we had back when we first started is still something we feel as strongly today. it’s kind of like that driving, creative force that brings everything together for us.” And that means whatever they do next will be about bringing more beauty to the world, which is always something to be celebrated and shared.

Bentley’s new luxury saloon may Be Built for opulence But it’s got a giant 616Bhp under its Bonnet.

let’s get a little perspective on the 6-litre 12-cylinder engine in Bentley’s new flying spur. the famed 1966 dodge charger 7-litre V8 hemi, the benchmark of big car engines, mustered 435bhp and it would shake the chassis of any vehicle it was dropped into. Bentley’s, in comparison, is much more powerful as well as infinitely smoother. it goes from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds. that’s awfully fast. and even quicker, considering this lion of a car weighs 2.8 tonne fully laden. it’s also the fastest four-door that the luxury carmaker has made, a blisteringly quick 322km/h.

that’s impressive, but more interesting about this new flying spur is the fact that Bentley has drawn its focus away from the driver. it’s a subtle yet tectonic shift for a marque that has always hung its hat on making cars too good for your chauffeur to drive. this flying spur has been tailored to the burgeoning demand for chauffeur-driven luxury cars in asia, which already

takes the lion’s share of Bentleys produced. and the result: whether you’re sitting behind the wheel or being driven, you are made to feel like a king.

it’s one of very few cars that are just as comfortable in the back as in the front. there’s lots of leg room everywhere and even the back seats have a 14-way adjustment system (including reclining) as well as seat heating and, most importantly for australian conditions, cooling. at the press of a button, jets of air are shot up through holes in the leather seats. think of sitting on an air hockey table – it’s just like that. Quite fantastic really, and it stops potentially embarrassing back sweat. and while we’re on the seating, each one has a built-in shiatsu massager.

236

Page 239: Koncierge issue 04 gold

the back seat passengers also have their own mini-ipad style tablet to access the car’s inbuilt internet, control the air conditioning, navigation and even the cruise control setting – meaning you’ll never have to tell Jeeves to slow down ever again. you can also link your computer into the car’s internet. all the rear windows have automatic blinds for privacy and, putting everything together, this car is impeccably equipped for both business and relaxation. you just wonder why Bentley didn’t go the whole hog and throw in a tea and toast making station too.

regardless, it’s certainly impressing the market. when Koncierge spoke to adam hannaford, brand manager at Bentley sydney, he said “the response has been very good throughout 2014”, which is rather modest. Koncierge knows that of the three flying spurs that arrived in January, every one was sold the day it hit the showroom floor.

and why wouldn’t they? the flying spur has been completely reengineered. the older 2005 version was essentially a gt with a bit more legroom thrown in; this one has clearly been designed with everyone in mind from the start. with competitors in this class including the mercedes s500l, rolls royce ghost and aston martin rapide, we think the flying spur has the best rear passenger comfort of the lot.

on the outside, this is a car that makes more of statement than an entrance so, if you’re looking for a head-turner, the spur isn’t for you. as we test-drove it from Bentley’s collingwood showroom in melbourne to lake house resort in the spa country, an hour out of melbourne, it didn’t catch the eye of nearly as many people as you might expect for a $500,000 car. without question better-looking than the 2005 flying spur, it’s lower, slightly more muscular and has an instantly recognisable

Page 240: Koncierge issue 04 gold

elegance and status that is throughout Bentley’s dna strand. there’s nothing loud about it. it’s not made to be ostentatious; rather it’s a car that projects that, wherever you wanted to go in life, you’re already there.

concerned about noise? one of the most extraordinary aspects of the new spur is soundproofing. a decibel-eliminating cocoon around the cabin, including acoustic floor plates, glass windows, doors and double seals, means you hardly hear the outside world. even going fast you barely notice the wind or engine.

if such silence is a problem, it’s not a bad one to have. that said, we know of at least one english owner of a new flying spur who, after a few months behind the wheel, had to move it on. “it was the combination of power and silence. i’d be driving at speeds that would see me lose my licence in one fell swoop and not notice because the ride was so smooth,” Koncierge overheard.

get behind the driver’s wheel and it’s so stately you feel you’re almost above the law. its beautifully crafted front dash of wood panelling, lcd touch screen interface (with built-in television for when you’re stopped at the lights), leather steering wheel and Breitling clock smacks of luxury. But while this is a

Page 241: Koncierge issue 04 gold

performance vehicle, it is no sports car. with the air springs dialled back by 10 and 17 per cent front and rear, anti-roll bars softened by 13 and 15 per cent respectively and suspension bushes 25 per cent softer it’s a far smoother ride than the continental. the trade-off is that you really feel that you’re flinging 2.5 tonnes of metal into a corner when taking a turn.

without question too, you’d be hard pressed to come close to testing its 6.0-litre, twin turbo w12 engine, eight-speed transmission, but there is an annoying, almost second-long lag when you put your foot down from a standing start. when we were testing its acceleration around the back roads of daylesford, we were still mustering consistent 4.6 seconds for 0-100km/h (0.3 seconds slower than Bentley’s stated 4.3). with its beast of an engine, lord knows how quick it would be without that lag.

on the other side of the speed ledger, its brakes are magnificent. at the front, 405mm carbide discs (and 335mm discs at the back) do a good job of bridling this luxury thoroughbred and they work brilliantly with spur’s adaptive cruise control. what is it? distance detection devices at the front of the car can actually allow you to choose to be between two and five lengths away from the car in front. it’s brilliant technology that sees the car’s computer system automatically brake, accelerate and adjust to keep the car where you want it to be.

for Koncierge it’s the icing on the cake that this regal car doesn’t shout wealth but clearly projects you have arrived.

Oh Magnificence, how great you are! You are the invisible thread that weaves together the power of planets and galaxies, castles and candles, hands and houses, diamonds and dreams. Life is breathtaking and relentless in its expression. Its mighty Magnificence never takes a break. Nothing is excluded here; the current runs through all things. NOW I hear the call. In a swirling revelation, I can see that ALL things meet in the centre of Magnificence. Magnificence is the undertone; the overflow, the essence – it is from whence we spring.

But hold up. Wait I hear you say. Can it be true that everything is Magnificent? In time, life’s pallet of experiences reveals many shades of grey; the celebrations, the heartbreaks, the breakdowns and the breakthroughs. People, things, places and spaces, ideas and visions, the memories and regrets; mostly loving, playful, confident and courageous. But sometimes also sad, nervous, disappointed and afraid. It is intoxicating, enchanting, inspiring and often scary but no matter what you may be experiencing on the surface levels of your life, know that underneath all the chaotic content, there is a quiet, clear field. It is powerful and open. It is the essence of Magnificence.

So what is this hesitation we feel in the air? Is it appropriate to declare your own Magnificence?

Ah, the sweet risk of sheer Magnificence. How dare you stand up, knowing your own worthiness? How dare you look into the eyes of the mirror of your own self and declare you are indeed celebrated and loved. To be in such an activity with your own love of self that you willingly fall deeply into that divine romance. Will you dare to stand powerfully on the platform of this mighty present moment, and take a vow to NOW, to fill this moment with Magnificence? Will you be in an alliance with excellence? Shine the light of your self-devotion. Declare it! Share it! See others within yourself. Reflect and reveal the truth of humanity’s nature by feeling the depths of your own Magnificence! Too much? Never! Your ever-increasing Magnificence is just getting started.

What if you declare your wholeness, your soulful beauty and ever increasing abundance? How amazing that would be? To stand in your own skin and not wish to be somewhere else; to be in awe of your own ability to love so deeply. What if you were to be the one who loves the most? What if you started with you? Risky Magnificence. Magnificent NOW. Magnificent you.

Yet under the chaotic scramble towards acquiring magnificence, we are humbled to find, it is already here. You know great quality when you encounter it for it is matched by your own magnificence.

Magnificent is not what you are becoming; it is what you are! You arrived in this world Magnificent. It is your nature, your default setting and the very place that you create from, the essence of all things. Magnificence was always the starting point.

May we stop being so busy putting all of our happiness in the future that we miss the magnificent us NOW. What can be more important than knowing our own magnificence? For without an intimate celebration of ourselves, how can we possibly bring our gifts to this world? You cannot give what you feel you do not have. After all, your Magnificence doesn’t just belong to you, it belongs to the world!

Magnificence is not just a feature of Life’s big moments, but rather the fabric that holds all of life together in this delicious now! Magnificence is a mode of travel, a way of being in this world. Magnificence is seeing the absolutely extraordinary in the ordinary. It is in trains and planes. It is the ground you walk on during your morning walk. It is in your water, your phone call, your car and your cat. It is found in the breeze, flowing through trees and in the onions you peel. It is in space travel, meditation, cleaning and dreaming. It is in contracts and credit cards, meetings and traffic jams. It is the morning embrace and it is in your lover’s eyes.

May you disturb YOuR Magnificence into expression. Allow yourself to be great. Shake off the dust of the last moment to allow the fresh perspective of the present moment to shine here and NOW. Give yourself permission. Dance in the rain. Rest. Create. Play. Be intimate. Ban the conversation in your mind that tells you that you are not up to scratch. understand the difference between fine-tuning yourself into excellence and repeating a bad habit; an un-necessary low opinion of yourself. You are enough. Right here and NOW. Let your mediocrity go! Conjure up the audacity to be Magnificent. Know your divine origins are anchored in such cosmic ‘fabulosity’. Be the one to be struck by the light of your own brilliance. Be in direct contact with the best of what is unfolding. Magnificence is an invitation. It is the ultimate VIP back stage pass to the present moment, and NOW it is your responsibility – you are its instrumentality.

You are the caretaker, the door opener of this great energetic gift.

Kat Dawes speaKs to KoNCIeRGe about the aRt of NowIsm

“In an age of high tech, faster, stronger, shinier, it occurred to me that in order for spirituality to successfully take to the main stream of society, it would need to be presented in a simple way. I believe in order for ancient truths to receive some proper airtime in today’s culture…wisdom needs to be repackaged. NOWism is a simple practice of living in the now and becoming the right condition to live an extraordinary life. ”. Kat Dawes

If you could describe your purpose on this planet in one word, what would it be?

Presence.

what did you want to be when you were a kid?

extraordinary.

who was your childhood idol?

Michael Jackson.

Did your mum or dad have an influence on your current life direction?

Absolutely. My mother was (and still is) a dancer, so I attribute all my entertainment skills to her influence. She was also the one who told me that my imagination was the most powerful tool I had. She would get me to imagine putting on the costume and make-up of the role that I wanted to play in various musicals etc. Although she wasn’t being deliberately ‘spiritual‘ this advice was powerful and fundamentally spiritual. My father has very diverse artistic skills; drawing, sketching, painting, leatherwork, mosaics etc. His excellence was expressed through an incredible variety of artistic expressions– I am blessed with the same diversity.

what led you to Nowism?

I always had an interest in spirituality. When I was in high school I attempted to share various spiritual experiences I was having, but I was disappointed by how I was received.

The power and simplicity of the message in all the religions has been corrupted by fear, dogma and manipulation. I was curious to understand the intelligence that animates all things. I started to think that ancient wisdom needed a new package! I was simmering on the idea of NOWism for many years before it actually formed.

what is Nowism?

NOWism is the art of conscious participation in the present moment. It is a personal practice that results in the individual becoming the right condition to attract and create the life of their dreams and beyond.

how has the application of this practice changed your life?

During a time of crisis, I gave undivided attention to my own personal practice of NOWism. To summarise, I went from living in a van, with only $6 to my name and no real idea of how to create success, to manifesting a car, publishing a book and being recognized by some of the world’s leading teachers of personal and spiritual development. Within a year I found myself in Los Angeles negotiating potential multi-million dollar deals for a very entertaining cartoon concept based on the core principles of NOWism. The NOWism practice has changed my life forever.

what is your message to the world?

Negative thinking is the worst form of pollution on this planet. It is a virus that is mass communicated through media and day-to-day conversations. It is time to stop investing our attention in all the problems and start living from the answer; to start being the solution. Global transformation will take place through individuals. It is everyone’s personal responsibility to clean up their vibration and bring their unique gift to the world.

'If you could sum up in one word how you would like the reader to feel after reading your open letter. what would it be?'

Magnificent.
