KONA BAPTIST CHURCH Our Mission: Kona Baptist Church is a Bible teaching, Bible preaching Church. We are a Southern Baptist congregation, ministering to the spiritual needs of the Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Kealakekua and surrounding areas of the Big Island in Hawaii. We seek to glorify God by reaching out to people with the love of Christ and the Good News, ministering to the needs of the church, providing opportunities for people to grow in Christ, encouraging and promoting interdependent relationships with one another, glorifying and celebrating God’s presence together. 78-7156 Puuloa Road, Kailuaa-Kona, HI 96740 - Office Hours: Mon-Fri 9am - 2pm Office: 322-3355 Fax: 322-6709 Pastor Dean’s Cell: 265-9667 Email: [email protected] Website: konabaptist.org Prayer Requests: [email protected] A NOTE FROM PASTOR DEAN: Aloha Church, Well, summer is upon us, schools have let out and students are running the streets with enthusiasm. As for the church we have many great things scheduled for the summer months. What a great opportunity it is to sow into the lives of students throughout the year. Yet during the summer we are given many opportunities to sow a little deeper by ways of Bible Schools, Camps and mission projects or simple home Bible studies. This month we have plenty of ways you can get involved in ministering to our students. Let me remind you of a few ways: • VBS June 5th-9th • Basket Ball Camp with Missionaries from Texas at Konawaena Elementary June 12th-16th • Keiki Camp June 27th-30th • Backyard Bible Club in South Kona June 26th-30th with the Mission Team from AZ I do hope you will get involved and help to shape the lives of our Kona students that they may know Jesus. As parents, it’s our responsibility to teach our children everything they need to know before we release them into the world. From how to walk and talk, which we quickly regret once they learn how to repeat everything, to reading and writing. As Christian parents our responsibility goes much deeper than just walking and talking or reading and writing. They have been entrusted to us by God. Now that’s quite the calling! He has entrusted us to teach them about Him and His everlasting love for us. Have you ever considered planting a seed and growing a thriving garden in your children? Let’s look at the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13: “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But when the sun had risen, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 And others fell on the good soil and *yielded a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.”Matthew 13:3b-9 (NASB) This parable gives us great guidance for teaching our children and sowing seeds in them. Let us be about sowing into the lives of our children and students this summer season. Blessings in Christ, P. Dean

A NOTE FROM PASTOR DEAN: Aloha Church,

Well, summer is upon us, schools have let out and students are running the streets with enthusiasm.

Let me remind you of a few ways:

• VBS June 5th-9th • Basket Ball Camp with Missionaries from Texas at Konawaena Elementary June 12th-16th • Keiki Camp June 27th-30th • Backyard Bible Club in South Kona June 26th-30th with the Mission Team from AZ

I do hope you will get involved and help to shape the lives of our Kona students that they may know Jesus.

Let’s look at the Parable of the Sower in Matthew 13:

“Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 9 He who has ears, let him hear.”Matthew 13:3b-9 (NASB)

This parable gives us great guidance for teaching our children and sowing seeds in them.

Let us be about sowing into the lives of our children and students this summer season.

Blessings in Christ, P. Dean
