In the next 90 min . . .
Discover what true technology integration is
Identify the three tiers of technology integration
Define the parameters for assessing teacher
use of technology
Become familiar with different models/rubrics
for assessing teachers
Technology integration means
using technology as a
transparent tool
to fit the task at hand and
to enhance learning.
Technology Integration
• Tier 1: Teacher Focus on Productivity
Focuses on the teacher using technology to get their job done.
• Tier 2: Instructional Presentation and Student Productivity
Involves teacher facilitation of large group learning activities and student productivity use of technology.
• Tier 3: Powerful, Student-Centered 21st Century Learning Environment
Promotes students to be actively engaged in using technology in activities.
1. What does it mean to integrate technology?
2. Why is it important to begin with the “why”
instead of the “what”?
3. What happens when the driving force is the
“what” (tool)?
4. How do you identify when technology is
being used at each tier?
Let’s Reflect
1. Assessing Technology Integration Rubric
(Based on 3 Tiers)
2. SAMR Rubric
(Based on SAMR Model)
3. Level of Technology Implementation Rubric
(Based on LOTI Framework)
Rubrics
1. What strategies can be used for evaluating a
teachers use of technology in the classroom?
2. What critical questions should we be asking
our teachers?
3. How can we shift the focus of the tool from a
productivity tool to a tool that enhances
learning?
Let’s Reflect
