If you spend even a moderate amount of time on the internet, the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part One, Not in 3D) has probably not escaped your attention. It is, after all, the second last op-portunity, in a sequence of book and movie releases that has spanned the past 13 years, to dress up as a wizard/half-giant/bald guy with no eyebrows on a day that’s not Hallow-een. If you’re the empiricist type and need strong evidence for the fact that Harry Potter is the most significant cultural phenomenon of our time, here is a list of firsts, bests, and World Records pertaining to Harry Potter:

You Should Be at the Movies Right Now

Hi, I’m David and each week I will compile a list of my favourite house, trance, dance, progressive, electro, or remix tracks that I have been listening to or introduced to that week. I sincerely hope that you will find a way to legally listen to the following tracks and begin to appreciate the electronic music genre as much as I do.

House Track of the Week- Afrojack’s Amanda was on replay on my Mac for quite a bit of the week and is by far my favourite overall track of this week. Amanda is a keep-the-party-pumpin’ track with a sweet build up which then jumps to a dirty course line that will make you appreci-ate the pitch range of your ears. Set you EQ on iTunes to Deep to make sure that the high pitches don’t catch you off guard. Best part(s) of the track: 1:00 – 1:15, 1:45 – 2:33- Amanda (Original Mix) - Afrojack

Must Have Electronic Track- One by Swedish House Mafia

Raphael Saadiq

Looking for an upbeat artist to make the anxiety of a busy school schedule melt away? Raphael Saadiq is your man. His brand of ‘old school’ R&B oozes with soul. His smooth vocals paired with some of the cleanest guitar riffs you will hear will have your head bopping in no time. He is not only a talented singer/songwriter but also a producer. He started his career with he multi-platinum group “Tony! Toni! Toné!” and has produced for the likes of Joss Stone, Mary J. Blige, and John Legend. Saadiq’s latest album “The Way I See It” may be one of the most underrated albums I have ever heard. The flow is contagious and the Motown and Blues touches create a complete sound that you can’t help but love. Check out some of the singles from “The Way I See It” in this week’s extra treat! Look it up! If you haven’t heard of this guy, you will be pleasantly surprised.
