Organized in 1977 by the youngest captain in the history of Carnival, the Knights of King Arthur takes its name from the legend-ary British king and his men of the Round Table. The fi rst three parades of the Knights were presented in the morning. In 1979, the group became the fi rst West Bank men’s organization to parade at night. The Knights of King Arthur moved their parade to Sunday afternoon in New Orleans in 2001. www.kreweofkingarthur.com

KING ARTHURWith the theme 20 YEARS IN DOWNTOWN NEW ORLEANS, King

Arthur’s membership now stands at 1,750 men and women. The 50-plus-fl oat parade will showcase themes from the past two decades. King Arthur has been one of the true success stories in Carnival having started as a small West Bank parade captained by a 17-year-old some 43 years ago. The captain is also the fl oat builder. William Linzy reigns as King Arthur XLIII and Queen Guinevere XLIII is Jennifer Frazier. KA logo throws include several plush items, Karmel Korn, Fedoras, activity books and dou-bloons, including grail and dragon cut-out doubloons in six colors, some available only from the fi nal three fl oats. Signature throws will be the hand-decorated grails tossed from each fl oat. The 2020 ball is set for January 4, 2020, at the Downtown Hyatt Regency.

Dionysus was founded in 1985 by a group of Northshore businessmen whose inten-tion was to bring the fi rst all male krewe to the city of Slidell. The club’s royalty is selected at the Coronation Ball where the king and queen are chosen from the krewe’s maids and members of the King’s Club. www.kreweofdionysus.com

DIONYSUSBARS OF YORE AND LORE is the theme of the 35th annual parade of the

Krewe of Dionysus in 2020 in Slidell. Float titles include Post Time, Salvagio’s, and Thonn’s. The krewe includes more than 350 male members and the parade traditionally features more than 40 units, including 18 fl oats. King Dionysus XXXV, Leo Schmitt, and Queen Dionysus XXXV, Ms. Brook Persich, were chosen at the White Linen Coronation Ball last July at the Slidell Municipal Auditori um. They will ride on separate royal fl oats in the procession. Dionysus logo throws include doubloons available only from the Royal Escort mounted units that appear ahead of the King.
