TRANSCRIPT
PLOTKing Lear decides to divide his kingdom among her three daughters by the
affect that they show to him. After feeling betrayed by her youngest daughter,
Cordelia, he decides to divide it between her oldest daughters and disown
her, with terrible consequences.
KING LEARLear is an important and powerful man who thinks that it is possible to enjoy the power of still being king without any of the responsability.
CORDELIACordelia is the favorite daughter of King Lear, until she refuses to flatter his father and gets booted out of the kingdom.
GONERIL AND REGAN Goneril and Regan are the oldest and wicked daughters of King Lear. Both betray her father after he gave them their half of his lands.
DUKE OF CORNWALLCornwall is the husband of Regan. Represents the abuse of power at its worst, and he enjoys causing pain to others.
DUKE OF ALBANYAlbany is the husband of Goneril. Unlike her wife, he is a gentle, kind man. At first he lacks the strenght to stand up with his wife, but he cannot control her.
THE EARL OF KENTKent is the servant of Lear, who is also banished from his kingdom after he warned the king to not disown Cordelia.
THE EARL OF GLOUCESTERGloucester is one of the old guards of Lear. His blinding makes literal his blindness towards Edgar and Edmund.
EDGAREdgar is the rich and clueless son of Gloucester. He gets manipulated by Edmund and he gets falsely accused of plotting to kill his father.
EDMUNDEdmund is the illegitimate brother of Edgar. Due to having been born out of wedlock, he acts like a jerk to his father and brother.
THE FOOLThe Fool is the stand-up comedian of Lear. He entertains him, but also makes Lear seeing the stupity of his acts.
