Kinds of Poultry Houses

Brooding House

This is for newly hatched chicks.

Chicks will stay for 1 to 14 days.

Feed the chicks with starter chicken mash or booster chick mash.

Growing House

Intended for growing chickens aged 15 to 35 days.

Provide heat, if necessary.Feed them with growing mash.

Drinking water should be a mixture of one gallon of water to half teaspoon of antibiotics.

Fattening HouseChickens are transferred when they are about 36 to 45 days old for the fattening period.

They are fed with fattener finisher mash-one part finisher , another part growing mash and two parts of crushed corn.

A mixture of antibiotics in one gallon water is given for drinking.

Layering House

This is the place for the layers.

The hens are well-taken care of to produce many eggs.

Culling House

This is a poultry hospital where all the sick stocks are taken care of.

They are given the necessary treatment to prevent the spread of diseases.

Fixtures and Equipments

Feeding trough or Feeders

This can be place inside or along the front of the cages.

Consider the ease of cleaning and the prevention of feed spillage.

Waterers The shape and the size of the waterers should be semicircular, fairly wide and supported by a movable bracket to permit easy adjustment and cleaning.

For chicks, the waterers are usually one gallon plastic jars.

Perchers These are made for poles or bars for the chicken to rest or roost on.

It must be put at the back of the poultry house.

Dropping Board

This is where chicken manure is gathered. It should be 30-60 centimeters above the ground.

Nest

Medium breeds must have a nest 30-35 square centimeters wide and 25-30 centimeters deep. Oe nest is required to every three to five hens.
