Dear Kindergarten Families,
Please note that there will be no school Oct. 17th and 18th due to
Parent/Teacher Conferences. We look forward to meeting with
you!

Mrs. Lingsch’s class: 18,497 questions 3. Ms. Jackson’s class: 11,159 questions 4. Ms. Witt’s class: 6,106 questions
Next Week in Kindergarten Riggs Phonics: We will introduce and learn how to form the capital letters /E/, /F/, /H/, /K/, /M/, /N/, /U/, /Y/, /V/, /W/, /X/, and /Z/. We will review the phonograms (letter sounds/penmanship) /f/, /qu/, /i/, /c/, /o/, /a/, /d/, /g/, /s/, /i/, /l/, /t/, /b/, /e/, /k/, /r/, /m/, /h/, /n/, /p/, /j/, /w/, /y/, /z/, and /u/. We are also working on recogniz-ing the final sound of a word (ex: word: cat, last sound is /t/). As well as working on recognizing all the sounds of a word (ex: word: cat, what are the sounds in cat?) Dictation quizzes will start next week, however they will not be graded yet. Literature: Our story for the week is “Momotaro Peach Boy”. “Momotaro Peach Boy” is a popular hero of Japanese folklore. Momotaro travels to Ogre Island to battle the evil Oni (monster). With the help of some kind friends, Momotaro fights to rescue his family and village from danger. This story teaches students about friendship and important pillars of virtue of Mason, perseverance and courage. Our poetry recitation for the week is “It’s Raining, It’s Pouring” and “Rain, Rain, Go Away”. Math: Unit 9: We will be learning about Patterns. Quiz on Wednesday and test on Friday. Science: We will continue our discussion on Seasons and Weather. We will focus on Winter and Spring. Geography: We will have our North America Test on Tuesday and dive into South America on Wednesday.
For the week of October 18, 2019
Reminders .
Label all sweaters,
lunch boxes and wa-
ter containers.
Please send healthy
snacks.
Red folders should
be signed and re-
turned each Monday.
Some important information for families:
-Behavior Chart: We are using a color chart system for behavior. At the beginning of the day, everyone is on green. Green means “ready to learn”. Students can move up to blue by making good choices and up to purple by making excellent choices. Blue stands for “ good job” and purple for “awesome”. If a student makes a bad choice, they are moved to yellow. Yellow is the warning color and stands for “slow down”. If a student continues with negative behavior, they are moved to red. Red stands for “stop”. In many cases red behavior results in a demerit and/or a visit to our Assistant Principal, Mr. Whitehead.
-Toys: Toys in school are not permitted. Even when kept in backpacks, they present too much of a distraction throughout the school day, and there is always the risk that they will be lost or damaged. This does include Pokemon cards.
-Snacks: Make sure your child knows what is for snack and what is lunch. Some great snack ideas are: bananas, apples, gold fish, carrots, berries, peaches, yo-gurt, pudding, pretzels, crackers, cheese, celery, broccoli, trail mix, cheerios, pop-corn.
Label, Label, Label
Please label lunchboxes, backpacks, and sweaters. We have several students who have identi-cal lunchboxes and backpacks. Labels are very helpful. Sweaters should be labeled. Just about every student has the Mason yellow or blue sweater, it is imperative that they are labeled.
This weeks Poetry Recitations: Graded recitation on Friday
Rain, Rain, Go Away
Rain, rain, go away,
Come again another day.
It’s Raining, It’s Pouring
It’s raining, it’s pouring,
The old man is snoring.
He bumped his head
And went to bed,
And he couldn’t get up in the
Morning.
