KINDERGARTEN SHOALHAVEN ZOO EXCURSION

On Monday, September 12 all our Kindergarten students travelled to Nowra to visit the Shoalhaven Zoo. The children were accompanied by Mrs Cecchele, Mrs Tome, Miss

Mizzi, Mrs Guy, Mrs Kitchen, and Mrs Graovac. Lindsay Park can be very proud of our students excellent behaviour both on the bus and at the zoo. We were able to pat a

koala, a baby kangaroo, a crocodile, a dingo and a python. When we visited the farm-

yard animals we were allowed to feed the sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits and horses. There were many other animals and birds to see such as lions, llamas, monkeys, wal-

labies, cockatoos and peacocks as well as lots of other different birds. We all had a lovely day, it was a great experience for the children.

School Musical What a success! It was such a delight seeing so many excited faces performing on stage and proud parents, family

and friends in the audience. I would like to extend my thanks to Mrs Lobina for months of toil in getting the musical

to the opening show, as well as all the staff at LPPS for their dedication and flexibility. My thanks also to Mr and

Mrs Davis and the members of the P&C who assisted in the lead up and at the performances. A stellar event and a

great way to finish off Term 3!

Academically Gifted Class Expo Yesterday I went along to the AG Class open day at Albion Park PS and Mrs Colquhoun went to Tarrawanna PS the

day before. Our students showcased their learning over the term and had the opportunity to share challenges and suc-

cesses. I was really proud of our students; their motivation to think critically and work collaboratively was wonderful

to see. Thank you to the parents who support this wonderful opportunity for our students.

School Survey Last week there was a link placed in the newsletter to access our school survey. The same link went up on the

Skoolbag App this week. You only need to complete the survey once, however if you want to fill it in for each of

your children at the school, you are welcome. The survey closes at the end of Week 1 Term 4. I would encourage all

of our families to provide feedback that will be used to inform school planning for the future. The survey takes

about ten minutes to complete and can be done on any device, including smart phones. Thank you for your contribu-

tion.

Kindergarten Orientation Our newest students begin their school journey next term, starting with the parent information session on Monday

24th October followed by orientation sessions for the students on 26th and 27th October (Session 1) and 2nd and 3rd

November (Session 2). Families have been advised which session they are attending. Please contact the office on

42292487 if you need further information.

Teachers are learners too! SASS staff and myself have continued training in Local Management Business Reform (LMBR). The first window

of the office will be closed during Week 1 Term 4 while Mrs Bond undertakes the final preparations for our school to

transition to the new system in Week 2. Please see Mrs Guy at the second door in the office. Your patience is very

much appreciated.

On Tuesday 13th September, Mrs Combe attended a workshop on ‘Improving your Pedagogy with Assessment in

English K-6’.

Holidays Students finish Term 3 tomorrow and return to school on Monday 10th October. I will be on Long Service Leave for

Week 1 of Term 4 and Mr Jones will be Relieving Principal. He will remain teaching 5/6J during this time. I would

like to wish all of our students and their families a relaxing, safe holiday and look forward to returning in Week 2 for

another great term.

BEFORE SCHOOL SURFING PROGRAM –

TERM 4

50% discounted price - $100 x 5 weeks AST Surf School is providing primary schools in the local area the opportunity for

students to participate in a before school surf education program.

This program caters to students from the age of 5 – 12years of age with a focus on

ocean awareness, beach safety and building confidence in a healthy and safe environment. The lessons are

catered for all level surfers and designed in getting their surf skills to the next level.

There is a special Spring program at a 50% discounted price which includes:

5 lessons of 1.5 hours

Wet suit and board hire included

1:6 instructor to student ratio

All instructors are qualified with current Level 1 surfing Australia certificates, first aid, working with

children checks and ocean certificates and passionate in what they do.

The 7.5 hour program will commence next term on a Wednesday and Friday morning of your choice. It will

start on the Wednesday 19th October or Friday 21st October. Total coast of the program will be $100 per

student and payable to AST surf school. The program will operate at North Wollongong beach starting at

7:00am and concluding at approx. 8:30am.
