Some of our phonics centers activities include; making alphabet shapes, a dice game which helps students differentiate between b and d and independent work with white board markers circling different ways of writing letters, and writing practice. Cherry Class: We have been working on sight words. Making our way through the 30 essential sight words for kindergarten. This month we have covered; live, all, sleep, fly, on, fly, white, under, made, eight, his, never, and three. We focus on understanding the meaning of the word, how to spell it and how to use it in a sentence. Each word is presented in a simple sentences, for example, “Monkeys live in trees.” Cherry class students have made wonderful progress and can read, spell and use most of these words we have learned. Friday Fun Day Field Trip Enjoying the fall foliage at Seoraksan Botanical Gardens

Theme This month's theme was Fall/Autumn. Although the overall theme was Fall, each week has had a different focus. We have explored how leaves change color, why we celebrate Thanksgiving and Chuseok as a time for harvest, and next week we will be getting ready for Halloween! It's been fun learning new vocabulary (cornucopia!), active songs and interesting facts about autumn. We are looking forward to our Halloween celebration! Looking ahead at November Theme Festivals around the World Each week we will explore an exciting festival from a different country. This theme is an interesting way to teach students about the culture, food, language and geography of other countries. Developing global citizens. Events Tuesday 10.31 Halloween Day Friday 11.10 Jump Rope Contest

Chuseok Event Students wore Hanbok

and prepared a traditional ceremonial

table.
