Leader in Me School

The Leader in Me (7 Habits of Happy Kids) :

• Is a process of changing a ‘good’ school culture to a ‘great’ school culture.

• It will involve a common, school wide language.

• Growth Mindset (creating WIGS and tracking our progress toward reaching these goals)

• By infusing this new language into already strong instructional practices, those practices become stronger.

“The Leader in Me process helps develop the essential life skills and

characteristics students need in order to thrive in the 21st century.”

-Stephen Covey

Kindergarten Report Cards

Grading System:• We use a standards based report card• The report card reflects the skills a

kindergarten student should master by the end of the school year

• Grades are based on a 1-4 numerical rating

• A “1” at the beginning of the year is typical, as many students are at a beginning level in the fall

• 1: Not Meeting Standard• 2: Approaching Standard• 3: Meeting Standard• 4: Exceeding Standard

•Report cards are emailed home in December, March, and June.

•There will be grades and comments from the classroom

teacher and specialists

K-2nd Grade Standards-Based Report Cards

Chestnut Hill Academy

Providing an environment where children become educated global citizens, problem solvers, and life-long learners.

Math & Language Arts: If your student is working in grade level curriculum, you will see a “@” here. If you student is working in above grade level curriculum (for example, if your Kindergarten student is working in 1st grade math), you will see a “+” here.

All other subjects: Students are working in grade-level curriculum, differentiated to provide appropriate rigor and growth for students.

In kindergarten through second grade, students are graded on a 1 to 4 standards-based curriculum.4 – Exceeding Standard3 – Achieving Standard2 – Approaching Standard1 – Beginning

In the comments attached to your report card, your teacher will include next steps to help your student achieve standard, or to further extend their growth.

Your student will be graded on the 1 to 4 scale for the standards which match the curriculum they are learning. For example, if your 1st grade student is working in 2nd

grade math, they will be graded on the 1 to 4 scale for 2nd grade math standards.
