Who we are!Hello!

This is the second edition of Kids Magazine. A magazine made by the young people of the Rose Bowl.

It all started when Headliners came to the Rose Bowl to run a journalism project, and we got involved in creating this magazine.

We learnt how to be journalists, interviewing people, taking photos, and deciding how we wanted this magazine to look.

Inside we have video game reviews, rating our local area, and we look into one of the activties at the Rose Bowl.

We hope you enjoy it and keep your eyes peeled for the next edition!

If you have any comments or want to be interviewed for future editions contact Headliners Jacob Brown. [email protected]

What goes on at the Rose Bowl...

Reporter Nicholas spoke to Lilly, 10 and Ibtissam, 11 about the art project at the Rose Bowl. What art projects are you doing?

Tie dyeing and bunting for the Queens Jubilee street partyTie dyeing is when you scrunch up some cloth and then pour some ink on it. When you un-scrunch the cloth it has exciting patterns on it.

Why do you like art?

It’s fun and you can illiterate what is going on in your mind and get it down onto paper. You can create anything!

I like it because you get to experiment with new things.

Has doing art at the Rose Bowl inspired you to do it at home?

No, but I do look forward to my Tuesday art classes at the Rose Bowl.

Emily EvansArt Teacher

I really love doing art and enjoy seeing others doing it and learning new things from it. So it’s great being an art teacher!

GO Kidz Magazine reporters Millie and Nicholas looked at their local area to see what’s good and what’s not. Green is good. Red is bad.

MillieI like and feel safe in the Rose Bowl, because it gives us information about what’s going on. The staff are friendly and that make us feel safe, and there is no attitude here and no gangs.

We also get to do things, like film making, art, graffiti and sports.

The place I have marked in red is where I feel a bit confussed. It’s my friends place. There are some gangs hanging out about near his house.

Another place I have marked red doesn’t have any gangs hanging about, but it has rude people. Lot’s of adults shout at us and tell us off when we’re playing out in the street, or riding our bikes. Not all the adults shout at us, but a lot of them do! Once someone shouted at me for trying to help get a cat down from a tree.

Nicolas In my house I feel safe, but just outside there is a park and that is where some gangs hang out and they try and break the gate to the football pitches.

There is a little passageway near my house too and I don’t feel safe there as it is dark and people get attacked there.

Near my house there is s a main road, and although it is busy with traffic, there are a lot of people there so I feel safe that if anything happened there would be someone to help me.

There are also certain places in my area that are noisy and dirty and just not nice to be around.

ReviewGAME

Robot Shooting is a game about war where a bunch of robots are trying to attack you and your base.

I think it’s aimed at boys because it has guns and bombs.

It’s free, but does have adverts every time you die, so it slows up your time between games.

You can earn virtual money in the game by killing robots and then you can cash it in a buy extra guns, missiles and protection.

Robot Shooting on MiniClip.

MovieStarPlanet is a fashion game where you get to buy clothes and dress your character. There is a VIP zone that you have to pay to get into so I don’t like that bit about it.

You have to sign up to become a member to get on this game, but it means you can meet other people and interact with them in a virtual world.

The game is limitless and goes on forever, as it’s based in a virtual world so you can never complete it but that’s not the point. I am a bit sad that when I eventually get bored of this game my virtual character will be left alone in it’s virtual world for ever.

Star Doll is a game for anyone that like dress-ing up and fashion. It is set in a virtual online world where you can dress your doll in clothes and decorate your doll house.

You can chat to other people and walk around the Stardoll world. You can even break into people’s houses and steal their clothes and accessories and things.

You can make groups and invite people to join and give them gifts.

This is a platform shoot-em-up where you

have to defend your commando base by

shooting the attacking forces. You can

upgrade your weapons each time to complete

a level.

I think boys and girls would like this and you

can find it free on the Internet.

The things I like about the game is th

at there

is a bit of freedom with where you can go.

The graphics are simple and basic but very

functional.

The game play is tough, but that’s good.

One improvement might be to have speed up

bounces because the commando is a bit slow.

“I’ve learned loads of new stuff at Headliners, like how to make a film

and a magazine. It’s great because I can put my opinions and thoughts

into something that others can read and see!”
