London is one of Europe’s most vibrant, multicultural and diverse cities. Ranked as the best academic city in the world (QS Best Student Cities 2016), London is a centre for world-class education, culture and creativity.

EXPERIENCE LONDON HistoryLearn about London’s culture; venture into the city’s past at the Museum of London or explore hundreds of interesting science and nature exhibitions at the Natural History Museum.

Art and DesignAdmire modern art from around the world at the Tate Modern gallery, or discover innovative new products and designs at the Design Museum.

ShoppingLondon is home to world-famous Oxford Street, as well as Westfield London and Westfield Stratford, two of Europe’s largest shopping centres, with hundreds of stores to explore.

NightlifeHave a great night out with your new friends; visit some of the best pubs, clubs and bars in the UK.

Music and theatreExperience top-class entertainment acts at one of Europe’s biggest arenas, the O2, or enjoy a play or musical show at a theatre in London’s West End.

FoodTry new and exciting food from around the world; enjoy a traditional English afternoon tea, spicy Indian curries on Brick Lane, or take a walk through Chinatown to sample the city’s finest Chinese cuisine.

NatureWander through Hyde Park, one of the city’s many beautiful green public spaces, or enjoy a peaceful boat cruise along the River Thames.

SportWatch some of the world’s greatest football teams play at Wembley stadium, see tennis tournaments at Wimbledon, or visit Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, home to the London 2012 games.

Outside of LondonTrains from London can take you almost anywhere in the UK. Visit the historic towns of Cambridge and Oxford, or spend a day by the sea in Brighton.

GETTING AROUND The Underground

The vast underground rail network, also known as the ‘Tube’, is the quickest and easiest way to travel.

BusesRide on a red London bus; they are an easy and great-value way to see the city’s sights.

TrainsLondon has frequent rail services to all major UK cities, airports and other destinations. Even Europe is only a train ride away. The ‘Eurostar’ rail service runs fast trains to France and Belgium from London St. Pancras International station.

BoatsCatch a River Bus along the Thames; beat the road traffic and see sights along the river such as the Houses of Parliament and the Tower of London.

TaxisAlthough they are more expensive than public transport, taxis (or ‘black cabs’) can be convenient for shorter journeys or when you are travelling with heavy luggage.

BicyclesLondon also has a popular bicycle hire scheme. The bikes are often called ‘Boris Bikes’ after the city’s Mayor, and the first half hour is free!

Now that you know more about living in the city, read on to find out what your new home in London has to offer.
