Compulsory School Attendance Regular attendance at school is essential for students to achieve quality life outcomes. Schools, in partnership with parents, are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students. Presently, teachers are busy finalising their assessments to inform semester two reports. Parents of children are responsible for ensuring their child attends school every day. On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:

Being sick or having an infection or disease

Having an unavoidable medical appointment

Being able to attend a recognised religious holiday

Exceptional or urgent family circumstances e.g. attending a funeral

Parents must provide an explanation for absences to the school within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence. Special Swimming Scheme All students from Kindergarten to Year 2 will be participating in the Department of Education Special Swimming Scheme which is an intensive learn to swim program. Year 5 Captain Speeches for 2020 It’s that time of year where Year 5 students will be presenting their Captaincy Speeches in hopes to be elected for 2020. We have 14 amazing Year 5 candidates to consider. They have grown so much in maturity, responsibility and reliability and it will certainly be a difficult choice. We are preparing the speeches in class time, however, any support from home would be greatly appreciated. The better they know their speech, the more confident they will feel. Captain’s speeches are being held at Tregeagle Public School on Thursday, 5 December, 2019 (Week 8) at 9.30am. Parents and families are very much welcome to attend. Nardene Braddon

My Place

This term 3/4A have been studying the book ‘My Place’ by Nadia Wheatley & Donna Rawlins. “The book lovingly evokes the history of Australia through the eyes of children living in one corner of this great land.” As part of our History unit this term we are looking at our local community. Students have created their own poster of their own ‘My Place’. Students were to replicate the same style based on the story and adapt it to their own lives.
