AbstractThe present work is trying to project few lights over the moral feeling of the united intelectuals. This work focuses on the mental part of the Transylvanian intelectuals, expressed through their works, as mental images of a social - historical process. These mental images, being exposed through the creations and works of the united intelectuals from the illumination era, are outlining their human shape. The alignment of Transylvania to Europe was an emancipated imperative. This ideal has determined their sense and their activity base, becoming practice and morality, at same time. Through their works, the creation comprised the element of negation. The protest against the anachronistic relations and the consciousness of their own value, so this protest will transform into expression of behaviour and ethical language of the social needs of Romanians from Transylvania. Through their creations we can form an image about the ethos or the contents of the moral expressions of the Transylvanian intelligentsia of the XVIII century. This image leaded by the hypothesis that their biggest wish is the autoemancipation, considered that the future of the nation it's far more important than their own destiny; fighting for others, they defended the essential of existence, their own dignity and the dignity of the Romanians in Transylvania. Our study is presenting the elements of a motivus actionis, the full manifestation of this necessity of creating the first etymological dictionary of the Romanian language: the Lexicon of Buda, printed in the year of 1825. This work is nothing more than a preamble of the self-realisation of morality of Romanians in Transylvania, from the first half of the XIX century; an inner shout of their national affirmation.Keywords: United Church; Habsburg Empire; Petru Maior; Samuil Micu; symbolic-cultural and pragmatic value; collective needs; common good; equality, historical morality.
