    Solar Rooftop installations in India

    Over 525 MW of rooftop

    solar projects have been

    commissioned as of 31st

    October 2015.

    Estimated new capacity

    addition over next 12 months

    455 MW.

    Tamil Nadu is the leading

    state with rooftop

    installations of over 76 MW

Corporate Adoption of Rooftop Solar is Accelerating

Cost Savings: CleanMaxs solar power is cheaper than grid power tariffs in all

    major commercial/industrial markets in India

Carbon footprint reduction Zero carbon emissions from a solar power plant.

A 1 MW solar power plant offsets ~1400 tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to

taking 450 cars off the road.

Visible Commitment to Sustainability: Compared to open access power or

energy efficiency, rooftop solar is visible to employees, visitors, etc.

Minimum interference during operation : After installation and commissioning

typically, there is a small amount of routine maintenance required only in terms of

cleaning the solar modules. The rest of the system typically requires very minimal

    and infrequent O&M.

    Most Corporates Prefer Zero-Capex, Build-Own-

    Operate Model

Certainty of procurement outcome : You lock in power cost savings through

solar power (with no uncertainties from technology selection, subsidy availment,

generation risks, lifetime repairs and maintenance costs, etc.)

Lower Cost: When BOO model is available, capex option almost never attractive

Ease of Procurement: No capex approval; minimal technical analysis required

Ease of implementation : Zero capex, zero opex model, with complete

outsourcing of power plant to CleanMax.

Better Performance: Realistically, corporates will not devote the attention

    required to optimize plant performance

    Developer Market Needs to Consolidate

    9

    Corporate PPA market cannot

    accommodate more than 4-5

    serious players as market

    matures

    Most corporates are pan-India

    and therefore need pan-India

    partners

    Corporates will be risk-averse,

    will not take risks with

    unproven developers

    Developers with focus on this

segment will be the ones to

    succeed

Key Policy Problems and Solutions Rooftop Solar

    Net metering:

Rapid and smooth implementation; clear rules Remove arbitrary caps on capacity

    Tax Incentives

Accelerated Depreciation Section 80-IA GST Investment Trusts

    Capital Subsidies:

Only needed for residential and rural/micro-grid

    Feed-in Tariffs

    Could drive residential installations
