Economic Assessment
• The hosting of the World Summit on Sustainable Development will contribute R1.3 billion to the South African GDP in 2001
- This includes o R1 billion expenditure at the event o R321 million expenditure on operating costs for
the event o R149 million expenditure on pre and post event
tourism o R74 million expenditure on related events o 14 000 Jobs anticipated to be created
