The report has provided compelling evidence that climate change is advancing rapidly as a global risk with impacts far beyond just the environment. Even though the climate change is affecting various development sectors, there is also scope for reducing emissions and deliver jobs and economic opportunity through wise use of resources. The KEC 2015 will be a thought provoking process in this direction, with the participation of people from all walks of life like scientists, researchers, policy makers, development managers, NGOs, media etc. The Congress will also identify the research and policy needs for developing viable programs to address climate change issues in the ongoing development process in India with particular reference to the State of Kerala

CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENT AND DEVELOPMENT The Centre for Environment and Development established in 1993 is an independent research and development, training and consultancy organisation focussing in fields related to Environment and Development. The major Program Areas of CED are: (i) Natural Resources and Environment Management (ii) Water, Sanitation and Health (iii) Climate Change and Energy Studies (iv) Urban and Rural Studies (v) Information and Knowledge Management and (vi) Culture and Heritage Studies. CED is recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India.CED is also the Centre of Excellence on Solid Waste and Wastewater Management of Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India;National Key Resource Centre on Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Government of India and Regional Resource Agency of Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. CED is an ISO 9001 – 2008 Certified Institution and has completed more than100 projects sponsored by various agencies during the last 22 years.

KERALA ENVIRONMENT CONGRESS CED initiated the Kerala Environment Congress (KEC) in 2005, with the main objective of creating a common platform to bring together scientists, academicians, policy-decision makers, development managers and research students. Till date CED has organized ten KECs with focal themes as Coastal and Marine Ecosystem, Forest Resources of Kerala, Wetlands of Kerala, Environmental Sanitation Health and Hygiene, Water Resources of Kerala, Solid and Liquid Waste Management, Energy and Environment, Agriculture and Environment, Culture, Heritage and Environment and Water and Energy Security – Issues, Challenges and Potentials.

11th Kerala Environment Congress (KEC 2015)The Eleventh Kerala Environment Congress (KEC

2015) will be held at Kottayam, from 6th to 8th May, 2015. The Congress will include Key

note address, invited paper presentations by experts on various sub themes, oral/

poster presentations on the theme by researchers all over India and oral/

poster presentations by young researchers (below 30 years) for

Young Scientist Award.

Padmasree M R Kurup Memorial Keynote AddressThe Keynote address of the congress is dedicated to our founder Chairman Padmasree (late) M R Kurup.

Young Scientist AwardCED has instituted the Young Scientist Award in the name of our former friend and colleague (Late) Dr R. Satheesh, for the best Oral and Poster presentations in the Congress.

Open ForumThe final session of the Congress is an Open Forum which discuss a topic of high relevance to the society and which can be taken up for implementation with the participation of the community.

Call for Papers Full papers based on original research work carried out on the focal theme are invited from scientist/researchers all over India for both Oral presentation and Poster presentations. After scrutiny, the accepted papers will be put either in paper or poster category, which will be duly communicated to the authors. The size of the poster shall be 1m x 1 m and only one poster per person will be allowed.Papers from research students of age below 30 years alone will be considered for the Young Scientist Award.
