  • Pvesientts MessageCelebration of Onam is a happyoccason for all of us. It s the timewhen we express our soldarity asKeralites and symbolize our abilityto lve in peace and harmony, rrespectve of our differences incaste, creed and religion,We are proud of the fact that thisyear on August 28, KeralaAssociation of Creater Washing[onwill be celebrating ts I gth Onamnestival on a grand scale and in ajoyous atmosphere. MosL of youmay be aware that this Lime thefunction will be held in theafternoon, We are expectng a biggathering for this celebration. Iextend my nvitator to all to attendths program and nake it aresou ndng success.

In the last Kerala Digest I hadmentioned quite a few things that Iwanted to convey to you. So let mebe very brief here. The only point Iwould lil(e to bring before you nows about the Life Membership forthe KACW. The basic concept ofthe Lil Membershp is to mobilizesufficient resources for theAssociation to have a building

of its own in the future, Theproceeds of the life membershipwill go to a seperate fund, exclusively meant to meet thisobjective. I am extremely pleasedto inform you that we are getting avery good response from many inthe communjty. lam confident thatmore and more members will comeforward with the offer of theirsupport and patronage formaterializng this vision. ln thiscontext, I should mention that inrecognition of their suppoft aspatrons, at regular price lifemembers, hencefofth, will be givenVIP seats in the front rows for allthe paid programs of theAssociation.

I am in lacl\ of words to express myappreciation and.qratitude to al ofyou for your whole support to theKAOW. Your support is the pillar ofstrength which has enabled theAxecutive Cornmittee to plan andexecute diverse activities duringthis year

On this occasion, it is my pleasureto wish you all a happy Onam and aproperous and fulFlling year ahead.Iam really looking forward tomeeting you all and spending somememorable time togetller onAugust 28 afternoon at John FKennedy llgh School in SilverSpring, llaryland.

  • Dear Friends,

This year the KAGW Junor Club hassponsored many exciting and fun-filledevents. our goal was to get morejuniors from the Kerala community toparticjpate in the KAGW and learnabout our culture.

So far this year we have successfully accomplished atrip to King's Dominion and "3 on 3" KAGW JuniorCIub basketball tournament. We had a good turnout forthe trip to King's Dominon, lt was a day that was filledwith fun. We went on roler-coasters, water rides, sawsome shows, ate a lot of junk food and had a greattime. As for the KAGW Junior Club basketballtournament it was a raging success; the teams (Southlndan Groovers, Airlndia, The Chapatis, RunningMalayalees, 69 crew, 8000 Krew, l\asala, Just Do lt)were giving stiff competition to each other, until the raincame pourng down. The tournament is rescheduledfor August 6, 1 994 9:00 am at the Potomac CommunityCenter basketball courts, The KAGW Cap fund-raiserhas done well from the prevous two functons; 'Vishu"and "Star Night". For every hat purchased, $1 .00 willbe given to the "A Dollar For [,4a{ayalam' program.

With the adrenaline pumping, the Junior Club has highhopes to accomplish a lot more this year. ln Fall wewould like to have a "Parents Appreciation Nght".Such an vent will be the first the KAGW Junior Clubhistory. lt is a night where us "Juniors" ente1ain ourparents and thank them for allthat they have done forus. During Onam we will pass out nomination sheetsfor the "Juniors' to nominat their parents. We wll bepresentng our proposl tor this evenl at the nextKAGW Executive Committee meeting. With the KAGWExecutive Committee and the KAGW Junior Clubworking together, "Parents Appreciation Night" will bea unique and fun-filled event.

    Sincerely,

    Scott KunduPresident, KAGW Junior Club.
