BENEFITS UNDER THE POLICY BY CIC

i) Accidental permanent disabilty The policy will compensate in monetary terms

for permanent disability to the students as determined by a medical doctor.

ii) Accident medical expenses Medical bills incured as a result of an accident

will be reimbursed upto the policy limit.

iii) Artificial appliances The policy will make monetary payments for

purchase of artificial limbs as recommended by a medical doctor subject to the policy limit.

iv) Dental treatment The policy will pay for the cost of treating

dental injuries resulting from an accident upto the policy limit.

v) Funeral expenses In the event of the unfortunate occurence

of death through an accident, the policy will make monetary payment towards funeral arrangement within 48 hours.

WORK INJURY BENEFITS ACT (WIBA) INSURANCE POLICY

Summary of Cover• Work Injury Benefits Act (WIBA) Insurance is a replacement of the Workmen Compensation Act (WCA

cap 236 which was repealed and replaced by WIBA in 2007• The Policy is taken by employers to compensate their employees in the event they sustain bodily

injury by accident or disease in the course of employment.• The cover extends to include transportation of employees to and from their places of work and also in

relation to employment to and from social recreational and sporting activities and while participating in such activities

• The cover is also extended temporarily for employees deployed outside Kenya for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months continuously.

• This is a no fault and therefore negligence need not to be proved against employers

Policy Conditions• The cover is subject to declaration i.e. it is

required that the employer keeps a record of earnings and

declare to the insurer actual earnings of all employees at the end of each insurance period

• The insured is required at all times to keep a proper record of all employees including their full names

national identity card number, date and time of engagement ,salaries wages earning for a period of not less than six years

• The insured is also required to establish Safety and Health Committees in the event they are employing

more than twenty employees

The Policy Benefits• Death - which is an equivalent of eight years’

salary maximum Kshs.10,000,000/- per employee

• Permanent total disability - which is a percentage of the death benefit de pending on degree of disability suffered again the upper ceiling Kshs.10,000,000 per employee

• Partial disability - which is an equivalent of actual earning but should not exceed twelve months earnings

• Medical expenses - actual medical expenses incurred as a result of an injury or illness subject to a maximum of Kshs.100,000/-

• Funeral expenses - the limit is Kshs.30,000/- per deceased person

MEDICAL SCHEME

Product Overview:

This is a hospitalisation cover that protects insured members’ and their declared dependants against valid hospitalisation medical expenses arising from both illnesses and accident.The annual cover limit is per individual or shared per family.

Valid medical expenses are covered 100% (no excess).

Members of the KSSHA (maximum age at scheme entry is 66 years and automatic coverage thereafter.

Their spouses (maximum age at scheme entry is 66 years and automatic coverage thereafter.

Their own or legally adopted children from 30 days to 21 years of age.

POLICY EXCLUSIONS

The policy will not pay expenses arising from:

• Hazardous sporting activities as a professional player • Family planning / infertility• Circumcision unless as a treatment of a covered illness / infection• Cosmetic surgery unless necessary to correct accidental bodily injury• Intentional self-injury (alcoholism, drug abuse, attempted suicide)• Injuries sustained during participation in a wilful and material violation of law• Herbal medical treatment (alternative medicine).• Self-referral overseas for treatment available locally• General Medical examinations/check-ups not incidental to a diagnosis of an illness• Expenses recoverable under any other insurance e.g (NHIF rebate amount)• Outpatient expenses (medical,dental and optical expenses)

The waiting period is as follows:
