Kentucky Orchid Society Meeting Minutes – Jan. 2017 The KOS monthly meeting was held at the Immanuel Church of Christ on Wednesday January 11, 2017 @ 7:00 pm. There were 20 members present. The Treasurer’s financial report was not available. President Teague presented the December meeting minutes via the monthly newsletter. A motion was seconded to accept the minutes as presented. Old Business------ 1. President Gloria announced that it was dues renewal month and urged all members to pay their dues as soon as possible but no later than March 2. President Gloria let members know that a new current Membership list will be done for this year, as soon as memberships are collected. 3. President Gloria asked if Danetta would bring stick-on name tags for the next meeting to help new members remember people’s names. 4. Gloria gave Pam LaRocco her 2016 award for Mini Orchids. New Business— 1. Ruth Schnieder announced upcoming speaker for Feb. will be Pam LaRocco. Other future speakers will possibly be Edgar Staley from Windswept in Time Orchids and Steve Benjamin. 2. Ruth proposed ideas for fundraisers to help fund the cost of speakers in the future. Members used file cards to present ideas to her for review. 3. Gloria announced that Pat “Z” will be donating a portion of her orchid collection to the club in order to use them to raise money. More to come on this later. 4. At this point members were asked to bring in plants to re-pot for the coming year…. Show & Tell Plants – Judges were Dick Humke & Pam LaRocco Standard Orchids 1 st place Coelogyne Unchained Melody (Coelogyne crostata x Coelogyne flaccida) Ruth Schneider 2 nd place Phalaenopsis name unknown Ruth Schneider 3 rd place Cymbidium name unknown Carla Cates

The KOS monthly meeting was held at the Immanuel Church of Christ on Wednesday January 11, 2017 @ 7:00 pm. There were 20 members present. The Treasurer’s financial report was not available.
